When I traveled to Pakistan in 1999, I visited several arcades and noticed many kids gathered around Tekken 3 machines, a game I often played on the PS1. Surprisingly, a young kid challenged me to a match, and I was astounded by their skill level, even back then. It seemed that Street Fighter wasn’t as popular there; Tekken was the preferred game among the arcade-goers.

I wish I could pinpoint exactly when this was said, but I distinctly remember Aris around TTT2 mentioning this. He was saying that partly why he liked the World Tour going to overlooked countries was because he thought there was a possibility there were really strong players out there, and we just haven't had the chance to see it. I think this was when El Gallo Negro was making waves, and there was that African player who was tearing people up with double Capos. That was a couple years before Pakistan turned up and redefined the tournament scene, so I guess he was right lol. But like to imagine there's maybe a region we still don't know about, that might pop up out of nowhere and give Pakistan a run for thier money 😄

pakistan is ahead of everyone in gaming because we played this game day in and day out in those old school self made arcade boxes. and we played offline so the world really doesnt know about us, we developed our own fighting style too. most pakistani players would agree that arslan ash is a tip of the ice berg. but good for him to go online with his skills and around the world. otherwise the world wouldnt know how good we are at it.
