As someone who was poor as hell most of his life, that video truly resonate with me. Getting vídeo games where i live is not hard but it's expensive as few things are so i had to live scraping by whatever games i could play, visiting local "arcades"(places with 2 machines tops), playing with a friend at their house making the most out of it and so on. I have nothing but respect for Pakistani players.

​@@steelblakeas a vet gamer and also who was poor, look up old console emulators like psone and ps2 emulators. Play games from those eras. Still holds up to this day. Just a friendly tip cause youre seriously missing out on the golden era of gaming. I dont want you to miss out on games like the Suikoden series(1,2 and 5 are best, rest are pretty bad), Vanguard Bandits, Ace Combat, etc. So many great games in different genres. Have fun.

As far as I know, there are also only 2 machines where I live as well, and nobody was playing there the few times I could afford to go. I don't think I could've gotten into the genre since I was a lil baby boy the way some people have, even if I wanted to! It's just the reality of it, sometimes.

Honestly, I think this is kinda of a big representation of what the FGC is (or at least what it should be) which is just people who love fighting games and want fighters, even the ones they don't play to be successful because they love the genre

Thanks for covering our region & showcasing Gerald's video. We had a great time with him. It's an absolute shame about the whole visa scene, but our guys are nothing if not resolute. @@azmilog Karachi scene is niche but very dedicated. Lots of good players like Aqeel Zahoor and Bilal Law there. They just had a Dew Gamers Arena qualifier tournament there.

Watching Gerald's video and seeing all the cabinents and shops was very nostalgic and evoked a comforting feeling even though I've never (or at least don't remember) visited Pakistan. Allthough I remember coming back from school in my homeland and visiting a small arcade and just spectating people playing games.

If they can make esports happen there, it makes me have faith I can do my part to help it grow elsewhere too.

Pakistani players story really resonate with me. My country was quite similar with Pakistan where gaming was a very luxury hobby without official distributor like Sony, MS, Steam etc. The situation forced the gaming community to import or rely on piracy to play video games. But thanks God the situation changed from early 2000 or since PS3 era where more and more official distributor came and released their hardware & software for my country. Although my country doesn't have much problems with electricity / power outage. So i really salute all Pakistani players efforts and passion for Tekken / fighting games. Despite all the roadblock and shortcomings they had, they still can compete at the highest level and became one of the strongest Tekken community in the world 🙇‍♀

The things Pakistan do to play Tekken is just so amazing. I always love when you can tell someone is passionate about something, it brings me joy to see people doing what they love

Love to Pakistan, would absolutely go to Lahore to meet up and jam with you all. Truly makes me feel the love that these games manifest.

2019 really blew my mind. To see a scene really develop underground without any connection to the mainstream scene is crazy. Like I've seen it kinda happen with breakdancing but it's usually because a big event happened there or a famous dancer visited and taught some stuff and everyone just learned from that. But Pakistan developed without anyone's help

This video makes me want to go to Lahore just to see what it's like to play there, this video is absolutely phenominal

On the one hand, I would love to see them just straight-up introduce a Pakistani character. On the other hand, I think it kind of sucks when people from a country don't like their so-to-say "representative character". I don't know if this changed at all, but I heard rumors that Juri isn't well liked in Korea.

Not like anyone gets to leave that country anyways. Do people even have passports in NK ? Also it's really not that shocking, how many times has NK bombed the world for real anyways, they keep doing tests and stuff for intimidating their neighbours but havent started an actual war for a long time. Meanwhile pakistan is the epicentre of terrorism, you never know who is a sleeper talibani from that country. A recent survey showed over 67% people there want taliban to take over the country and implement sharia, while the country as a whole is heading towards a civil war and might break up into 4 pieces soon.

I grew up in South Africa, where we had some similar struggles to what we see in Pakistan. It was always so shitty to be on the outside of cool stuff. Now I live in the Netherlands and apparently, we have the opposite problem: We are gatekeeping people from coming here to where there should be (on paper anyway) more of a scene. It just sucks. Borders are stupid

The passion and ingenuity is inspiring, but hopefully someday they won't have to put in so much effort just to play the game, let alone compete. Really great video though; Core-A Gaming does good work.

Watching the video earlier made me quite emotional. I just love seeing such passion, especially in situations like Pakistan where you are limited. That final part of the video just gets me, it’s really funnily edited, but also great to see some parts of the country. Happy that Gerald made such a wonderful and small documentary.

I'm from Pakistan and I got my visa rejected for education a couple of times in the past. That only gave me a reason to keep moving forward. In Pakistan these issues further strengthen a person's resolve to not quit when they face hurdles in the pursuit of their ambitions. These hurdles also act as sort of filter to weed out people who are really are in it to go all the way versus those who can't face adversity and pressure for long. That's what makes stories like Arsalan Ash come true. Wanted to thank the fellow gaming and Tekken community for all the love and support. You guys are awesome!

This shit happens all the time to all kinds of players from all kinds of places from around the world in all kinds of games. As TWT shows it happens in EU too, but US is consistently terrible place to travel to for a lot of people from pretty much anywhere that is not NA, while claiming to be the world capital of FGC majors at the same time. I would love to see more regions being good enough to be able to say "yeah screw your US centric FGC, you come to our place to fight us". I also kinda blame TOs of these 1st party big circuits finals AND the people who still follow this shit. What's the worth of your world series, if you host events in places where your world class qualified players are physically prevented from showing up?

It is all about the capital. The US has a lot of money, and a lot of people with money capable and willing to cover the expenses of everything they do. In other countries not so much. You can’t expect a US level of fgc in Brazil (big country and big population like the US), since there isn’t enough capital to support it. Sure they have their local scenes with world class players, but not a big audience to support the expenses of esports. Remember english as an international language also plays a roll, the fact that the US is able to capitalize on that bringing audiences from around the world together is a big advantage for US fgc industry. If you don’t know portuguese (which most people in developed countries don’t), then watching a brazilian stream might not be appealing. A lot of factors play into why the everything in the world is US centric, but the important ones are capital and language.

The fact that north korea has a stronger passport then pakistan is crazy to me

The reason some countries feel like their passports are stronger than they should be is because those countries make those passports rare. Consider that a North Korean with a passport is a North Korean with the authorization to leave NK. This rules out most everyone but government officials. A North Korean embassador has more travel rights than a pakistani citizen. While I do think that's still crazy, it's a lot more understandable.

Somehow north Korea has an easier time with their passports. The first Tekken 8 TWT better be in Pyongyang, maybe we'll see a north JDCR

I truly hope they have enough next gen consoles for their scene to immediately swap to tekken 8 when it comes out. Would be a shame if their scene gets thrown into limbo until they get up and running again.

Kazuya Mishima would stop at nothing for his goals, they just carrying his spirit into playing Tekken no matter the hurdles.

The good thing is that all the recognition our scene got due to Tekken 7 will allow players and especially people in Arslan Ash and Khan to help develop the scene here It will be a slow development but it will help a loooot

This world is so frustration if you imagine that you did great thing everything for the world including preventing the planet earth of total destruction and just to end up getting rejected from getting a visa for lacking their favorism standard

The visa man being against Pakistani Tekken could actually be a possibility, my buddies in NL have mentioned that everyone aged 14 to 45 all had pirated Tekken 3 on chipped PlayStations. It's not unfathomable that there may be Tekken players in the highest reaches of the government, as scary as that may be.

I was born in Utrecht moved to Toronto, and im Persian. My father came from Iran in the 80’s and it took him well over 6 years to even get looked at for a green card. To me this is at the fault of TWT you have to know how these countries would be trouble, to me the US, UK, or maybe even France could’ve been better spots.
