Pakistan was a good team at that time. Of late they do not encourage hockey or any other sports but on Kashmir.

We want Pakistan hockey to regain its past glory. The reason why Hockey lost it's popularity was frequent change in rules, which even the ardent lovers of the game could not understand. I still feel the Pakistani team of 1978 to 1984 is the best ever the world has seen.

Pakistan dominated the game 90.percent of the time. Amazing game.play. India only.managed to do counter attacks

I think it's an even game where India could not utilise their chances especially Dhanraj. Mukesh Kumar and Dhanraj Pillay were managing the attack efficiently.

Loved when Pakistan won, all of the players went to Sajdah❤

What beautiful???? In fact beautiful was ur young age and not this old pattern hockey of long passes and less technique. Fact is that the young age is the best age and any memory of that age is the heritage. That"s it.

@@sherazahmed5529 now hockey is PC. Old hockey is much more skillfull. Now it's too tactical and everyone adopting European style of hockey which doesn't attract me. India and Pakistan played with a kind of flare that no team could achieve.

Pakistan was still a strong side in those days although in slow decline from their prime..... Pakistan was a sheer force to be reckoned with in the past with three gold medals and 4 time World Champions in hockey... India played well in this game and it was considerably close.... However at present India has shown considerable improvement while Pakistan is nowhere

Hello Adeel, I'm a big fan of your uploads - I especially looked forward to full games of Shahbaz, Tahir Zaman, Wasim Feroze, Dhanraj/Mukesh...I recollect a few great Shahbaz games in 1988 and 89..then there was Pak vs NZ 86 world cup game(5-3), Asian games 90 final : Pak vs India 3-2...Pakistan's games in Indira Gold Cup 88 and 89. I hope you can upload more full games of Shahbaz. thanks!

The usual Indian crowd with pin drop silence when Pakistan wins !! Even the commentator D Souza who must be Indian claiming India will win at the start of the match .. got served well lol .. This seems to be pre Sohail Abbas era with no one pushing the PCs .. all flat hits !!

It was a great game where for the first time ever scored 5 goals against Pakistan. 5-2 was the score line.

Pargat Singh unsung hero of hockey. Skill of pillay and pargat looks more beautiful and confident that any pakistani in this team. Later on Suhail Abbas, shakeel abbasi, Rehan Butt these 3 were not less than hassan sardar, sami ullah, islah, shehnaz, akhtar rasool etc ect but unfortunately these 3 stars of pak did not have remaining 8 good mates. Even gagan ajeet was not less than ajeet paal singh but the fact is that old era of hockey of 20th century was less technical and that time european countries did not have skill and technique but in 21st century europeans made their game extra fast and innovative with new techniques and they totally changed this old pattern game and later on asians could not learn the european techniques due to poor coaching and less budget and neglegence of board. But after 2018 indian board is progressing than 90s.

India never won champions trophy in hockey.

It was my first hockey watch live on TV 2 channels broadcast at the same time in Lahore PTV & Doordarshan (India) but unfortunately Pakistan lost the final against Holland

Steve Trever: It was worst luck to Pakistan hockey after 1984 Olympics gold medals winning...the PAKISTAN hockey players rightly demanded to have some benefits but PHF authorities not only denied it but also expelled the very experienced players all of sudden...This annoyed and demoralized the other team members ... As a result of it, Pakistan hockey team could attain only No. 11 in 1986 Hockey World Cup...Then the declined started up in Pakistan hockey...

True Sir. The decline started in 1986 London world cup where India got the wooden spoon. But still to the credit of Pakistan they recovered remarkably to finish 2 nd in 1990 WC and to win the 1994 world cup in Australia in a penalty shootout. The real decline happened in the past decades.

@@chelladurairamesh3526 Good Analysis: But Pakistan team even should remember that they they shouldn't depend on one or two players like Shahbaz Sr, Sohail Abbas, Rizwan, etc...they should rather build up team combinations of good players as European players are doing so that a team could deliver its best. Similarly, Pakistani team of early 80s was combination of different talented players like Hassan Sardar, Kaleem Ullah, Sami Ullah, Akhtar Rasool, Munawar-Uzzaman, Rasheed ul Hassan, Manzoorul Hassan, Manzoor Jr, Hanif Khan, etc...But our nonsense PHF authorities retired them in order to inject 'Fresh Blood' without making proper back up plan. This policy brought the debacle of Pakistan hockey in World Cup 1986, Olympics, Champion trophies. Remember, we had few sports such as Sqaush, Hockey, Cricket, etc with a recognition at international level.

Jersey of both teams seems to be almost same.

Ooh, disastrous for India, when Pakistan scores, commentators are so baised
