To be perfectly honest, we did not have anything like contrast paints or speedpaints 2.0 or express paints readily available in 90s. Acrylics themselves were very limited in ranges and mediums and thickness =) Slap chop is not working as good with just thinned down acrylic paint.

Really impressive - definitely a technique that punches far above its 'effort weight' if that makes any sense. I'm dead keen on the traditional approach for contrast and cleanliness reasons and generally dislike other techniques involving a simple dry brush or speed-paint method, however, you just cannot argue with these results - definitely would consider this for a more organic / skin / cloth type of model.

3 - 4 hours, i can spend more than that on a single model. But i 100% agree with you, when you have whole army/box/ or just a unit to paint. 3-4 hours / model can be hard to find motivation for, and even more so if you are new to painting, and you results don't really match up with the quality of the box art. The slapchop works great with contrast paints. i have not tried it myself, but for getting an army painted and battle ready, your results are great =)

maybe you're taking too much paint off of the brush as silly as it sounds, you don't have to go as dry on the grey layer. It could also be the type of brush, try using a makeup brush as the bristles are very soft.

No hate at all because I think your channel is awesome, just feels like the only difference with each of these recent videos has been the particular model. The commentary has been exactly the same almost word for word. It’s awesome that you’re enjoying it though bud! 😊

Yup sorry but I am loving painting miniatures and each video is seen by different people as well as all my regulars like yourself 🙂
