Ok boys, for Father's Day I think you really need to help your DAD get his space finished so your parents can have their space. Your dad seems to always be helping you two. Love the colour of the walls.
Love that Billy was being such a supportive brother ... and that he is back filming Michael ... just seems right to me x
Completely understand the ‘no more gifts’. Michael needs to create his own memories about the things he chooses to have around him, without accommodating other people’s detritus. ‘Stuff’ is a massive physical and psychological burden, and a financial burden too if duties must be paid. If people are upset about Michael setting sensible boundaries then that’s on them to do some soul searching as to why.

He only got a little cottage too, not much space to store or display the ‘stuff’.

I was so humiliated watching Michael effortlessly paint edges (using a brush!!) and remembering the countless hours of taping, edging and frustration I had when painting my place 😂You're an artist Michael, the green looks fabulous!

Yay... The cottage is once again "alive with the sound of" ...Doing It Ourselves
I get the coziest feeling in my heart while watching these videos. Seriously the best channel I've ever found on KZread, and so inspiring! Not to mention Michael is so gorgeous, hardworking and talented. I love him.
So sweet that Billy and Sean got in there to get the paneling back up! Understandable that you want to cover the stonework- those of us from the US love anything that shows the age, but you live there and you should do what you want! The color is lovely! Glad to hear you are going back with the same type of stairs! Your Dad is a treasure- you are truly blessed to have him!
Just be you, Michael- no need to be like anyone else. You are delightfully enough. Thank you for sharing the videos with us!
Sean is such a lovely man - totally meshes with Michael's similar personality.
Stop worrying Michael about being on your own (sorta) We love you and Little Greene should definitely sponsor you, you've done them proud!!!! 💜💜💜💜
i didnt realize how much i missed cottage content until it returned to me, like i barely even realized that the channels been more or less on hold for months on end but im really happy to be watching this for breakfast again

My husband worked for John Deere and just recently retired. Had 42 years in when he retired. They make durable equipment. I like seeing their equipment in the videos. ❤️❤️❤️
I don't know if you guys got a new camera or a new mic, or if everyone is wearing mic packs, but the audio in this one is super good. I've never heard Mick so clearly, and I've often struggled to hear what he's saying in past videos. Everything looks and sounds great.
You have fabulous style Michael. I love how artistic you are in all things you do, from construction, design, decor, cooking and wardrobe and videography ! Wow , you rock!
I am so glad you're replacing the whole of the staircase, Michael. I've not had a good feeling about it from the first vid. And, you are absolutely right about that rough stone wall. Unless you put so much sealer on it that the off-gassing would chase you out of the house on a hot day, every time someone climbed the stairs, more grit would fall. It is so lovely to see the cottage coming together. It's going to be so welcoming and cozy when it's done.
I just want to thank you and your family for sharing your lives with us. I have debilitating health problems that sometimes keep me house bound. When I'm having a rough day I slip away to France. I visit with you and your family, Stephanie and everyone at Lalande,, Ryan and Ed and Anna. You all have given me an escape if only for a short time. Again Thank you.🙏❤️🏰🗼🤺

Loving that dark green for the walls!
Michaels loss is his dads gain with the stairs💖 I love how he repurposes everything💙💙
Back to the real “Doing It Ourselves” ❤️🔥 better late than never 🤩
The copper pans look so nice with the paint and oak adds to the cottage so much.
Michael how dare you. Doing edges as easily as that when i faff and stress about them for hours, nay, days and still manage to screw them up! Don't you know you can't use magic outside Hogwarts

Thank you for the lesson on how to paint with a brush. I have never tried to paint with a lovely thin brush like yours, I have only had big thick ones which drip all over. I can really see how much better the result is. Your little cottage is looking so good now after all your hard work and we are thoroughly enjoying following the journey!! Sarah
Micheal, I can't tell you how lovely it is to have you back in such good spirits
You will get good results. My husband had a painting business for 45 years doing beautiful homes. Painting is the most effective way to get the most bang for your bucks. You are more than capable you are entertaining too.
Thank you for half an hour of pain relief Michael! The cottage is looking great, the paint is amazing! Xx

I love the colour and agree about the brushes. It will be so cosy with the copper and oak. Glad to see the old Michael back.. 🦘🇦🇺
I love the color you chose for the walls. Your blue and white china will look stunning against the green walls. I can’t wait to see it completed. You are so much fun to watch and I love the way you mix in the beautiful scenery around the chateau!!! ❤️
Great to see you back and making fantastic progress to your cottage. It was good to see you and SJ have a catch up after your adventures in Spain. Because of you I now have a KZread family that the wife and I watch and follow, from SJ in Chateau De La Lande who in turn expired us to watch Anna and Ed in Bordeaux Life to How to Renovate a Chateau ( without killing your partner) with Anna and Philipp. Billy went to visit Chateau La Croix Honnet with Miss Anna and Peter, so sorry that they had to give up this chateau but, what a couple they are truly an inspiration and wish them well with their new venture It's a Wonderful life. Now we have Seans World with all his copper. Even Stephanie's gardener Dan has he's own Vlog. So you see Michael in the long run, you Sir have brought so many people together and its just fantastic. Keep going mate your doing a grand job ! all the best from Surrey, UK.
Wonderful episode! And I love the green. Totally agree that even a darker colour can make everything cosy. Keep going…..! 🇨🇦🇨🇦
The dark green will make the cottage cozy and bring the outdoors in. It goes so well with the English chintz florals. Can’t wait to see the final results. Please have a great weekend!
So good to see you back! I can't wait to see what you're going to do with the rest of the cottage; especially upstairs and what you're going to do with fabrics! Carry on! 😃👍
Looking fantastic Michael, love the colour and good idea on getting a new stair case. Sean, Billy and your Dad are amazing....such a great team!! As alway, look forward to the next one. Thank you!!
It's so wonderful to have you back and to see you smiling. Your cottage is lovely and coming along so well. Never mind what anyone else's taste is, this is your place, you have to live there and look at it every day, it should be exactly as you want it. ❤️
So good to see you all back together working in the cottage, can not wait to see the new staircase 🥰
Your cottage is like living in an enchanted forest. all the colors of the forest are there
It's looking very nice! Your Dad never stops, he knows how to do so much. Thanks for sharing!
So wonderful to see father doing so well, thank God you are back on your vlog!!! This is going to be awesome!!! Love your colors and plans for your place. Have a blessed weekend!!!
I love watching the work get done. It’s not boring, it’s like spending time with friends. And very satisfying to see the progress!
I was raised with an American dad, and an English mum. I was 15 before I realized that British humour is very different than American humor. I feel blessed to have been raised on both. Michael you are adorable!
Hi Michael. Looking forward to seeing more of your lovely cottage 😊💕
I would love to have been able to see the cottage as it was when it was originally lived in, and before it was such a mess. Michael's making a grand job of bringing it back to life.
Billy is looking out for his bro, giving you a hand with the panelling. Sean does good work and it is all starting to come together. Can’t wait to see Sunday’s video. Please take time for some R&R. Thanks Michael 🙏🏼❤️
Good to see you all working in Michael’s cottage.Lovely colour wall, the oak kitchen is stunning.
Love watching you guys play nice together, that kitchen, so cozy and I love the green with the oak, the new stairs will lighten it up as well...one of my fave vlogs, always excited for another one...!
Lovin that color & the white oak, great color combo Michael!
I’m always so happy watching your vlogs. Love the banter between you, Billy and Sean. It’s great to see all the progress you’re making. You’ll be moving in before you know it.
I enjoyed this video so much. The cottage will be really beautiful when it is finished and the garden area fabulous. Lovely to get a long video; hope there are many, many more. It's energy I can relate to that makes me feel very happy!
Wonderful Michael ,don't cut the banter out its all part of the building ethos ,Love what you are doing ,Keep it up XX

Super to see you back with everyone Michael 👏👏
The green paint is similar to the colour we used in our eighteenth century smstone cottage when we renovated over 30 years ago which closely matched the original paint left on the walls under layers and layers of old wallpaper! Good choice Michael! Love it! Very traditional!
So glad you are back to work on the GC. The dream team back at it!
Thanks for the tip on Little Greene paint. I take it you are referring to F & B. I wanted to use them & so did some research online (I've been living in France for nearly 35 yrs so don't know the brand). They've got quite a bad reputation from professional painters but I bought a sample pot to try out. Although the colours are amazing, indeed their paint is VERY watery, lightly pigmented & requires 3 coats to get the full colour so I was very disappointed. Seeing how the LG paint goes on your wall has cheered me up no end ! Merci beaucoup & greetings from the S of France.
I love that Jack daw bird. I like to feature birds in my living history videos. But he is just beautiful
Love the British sense of humour 🇨🇦
Thank you for letting us join you on your journey. It makes me happy to see your special space coming together.
Not to be intentionally critical, but 18:38 I must say that face-nailing/screwing tongue-and-groove boards (as you used on the walls, same goes for floor boards) will give you endless problems with humidity and the expansion/contraction of wood over time. The tongues and grooves are milled into the boards intentionally to alleviate this constantly expanding and contracting as the wood fibers absorb and give off moisture. Instead of face-nailing/screwing, the boards should be fastened with a finishing nail at an 45-degree angle on the tongue edge, and then the grooved edge fitted onto the tongue with no nails and held in place via the joint, allowing it to float both horizontally and vertically, independently from the next board. Also, face-nailing/screwing as you did will cause a higher risk of cracking the board because it's not allowed to move, especially using screws, a nail will allow some movements along the shaft of the nail (reason old houses make creaky noises during the night). Now-a-days, everything is screwed because it's faster and cost less to the builders, but not necessarily the best practice. Contractors and builders only guarantee their work until you see their taillights turn the corner and out of sight.

I've never seen anyone use screws in panelling, I didn't understand the theory behind it, thanks, only the aesthetics You wouldn't get away with this 'cowboy' building. in Australia, sorry Michael , but I am no sychophant+
Really happy to see you back at work on the cottage. We really missed you when you were gone. The new vlogs are happy. Thanxs Michael. We appreciate you and all your work.
What a wonderful episode. Full of life, and I love how you're all decent people. Great stuff (and an excellent edit).
You definitely have an artist’s vision and soul 🎨
I used an old staircase against my fence and set potted plants on it. It looked wonderful for many years until time caused it to fall apart. The dark wall will look good with pictures or a set of shelves, plates hung in a grouping. It's getting to be exciting seeing how the end results will be.

This is so entertaining! (Watching other people work!). Regards to Sean, Billy, and Papa Petherick!👋🏼
Michael, it might well be worth contacting Little Greene and asking them to sponsor your videos! You could use any paints they send you in the cottage or in the chateau - and you'd be a great advert for them, as you have contact with many chateau owners!
eating dinner and watching michael's videos are the best
The joy I get watching these projects being done, is great! You guys are taking us on a project and watching it come together. I am thrilled with each video!!!!! Love, love, Love!
I am sure when it comes time for lighting in the cottage you will do quite a bit of research.Task lighting, lighting for your art pieces, mood lighting and for dark areas in your room and the type of fixtures and light source. I am sure you know that lighting can make or break a room.Love the paint color choice that you have made for the room it will show off all your lovely woodwork.💖💖💖🏡
So happy to see you so happy Michael :) glad you are back to making great content again.
Great to see you back again you are so good at everything you do
What a fantastic back drop for showcasing anything against. The Great I Am even chose green to show us the wonders of creation.🤟🍀🤗
Congrats Michael. It's getting more and more like a complete home.
Love the paint colour. Very warm and perfect. Your Dad is so energized. Love his suspenders. Can't wait to see the finished cottage. Enjoy the weekend.
Michael, the cottage should be finished by the end of summer. Fabulous.
Beautifully done video, Michael … as usual. Love the calmness of your videos, they’re just wonderful. ❤️
So happy to see you back “doing it yourselves” on the cottage!
Preparation when painting is the most important step, but primer on fresh drywall is usually the most important part to prepare drywall.
Love the green. I love dark bold colours. So much better than clinical white that a lot of people seemed to go for these days. 😁
You all are so sweet to each other. Always helping each other, what good friends and brothers you all are. P.S. love the video out side, beautiful just beautiful.
u definitely have a beautiful piece of paradise with the chateau...its so fascinating to see how well u are making it a home .....i myself will never set foot out of America in my lifetime as much as i want to i know i wont ever but this stuff (old homes in the U.K)everything in the U.K. fascinates me even the history and its wonderful to be able to see it or at least watch it on KZread ...don't ever take anything u r doing to ur chateau for granted b/c what u have is beautiful ...and should be cherished ...its a part of ur history ...ur doing it wonderfully with all the care and love u put into it and it shows and feels like that even on a screen.. without being there to feel it and thats really special !!! BTW i love the green u picked for the kitchen its stunning !!!! wish i could find that color in the U.S.
Great to see you and thank you for sharing your journey. Love seeing you happy. 💖

Nice to see you back and working on that fantastic cottage Michael. I love that your Dad is always keeping busy and always will to lend a hand in whatever capacity to help out. Lucky you boys!

My Dr spent (an Australian) spent college and then many years in England afterward and has that same humor. Sometimes it takes me a minute - or two. 🙂
Re your dad's broken ladders,. I had similar ones extended from the stairs up to the bedroom wall when I was fitting hollows soffit sheets to the ceiling when the ladders folded in the middle when the side joint broke and I came crashing down the whole flight of stairs, no broken bones but bad gashes to leg, get your dad to ditch those ladders as you said, A death trap
Love the green - beautiful (my favourite colour). Brilliant vlog - cottage is going to be gorgeous. Thanks thoroughly enjoyed seeing the progress.
Think you should put in a more elegant stair, with a curve perhaps. The room looks amazing with that corner free. Just saying...

Such a sweet little cottage. Can’t wait for the next episode.
I think this was your best video yet. A glimpse of renovation, humor, organic family intimacy, intertwined with beautiful new shots around the chateau. The subtle music was spot on, good lighting and minimal scene swaps. Excellent work Michael and Family! I’m sure it might feel like pressure to put out content the viewers were used to, just hope it doesn’t mess with your true reality.
It seems to be coming along nicely
Michael I totally agree with you about the stone wall. I had a feature stone wall in my last place and much as it was a lovely stone wall and one of the features that attracted me I soon came to resent the dust. It drove me to distraction and isn't something you'd want in a kitchen. One feature I do miss from my last place though is a Victorian cast iron spiral stair which I think would look stunning in the corner of your kitchen and free up a bit more space for a lovely armchair or dresser. I also have a fledgling jackdaw and they're hard work! Love that Shaun and Billy wanted to surprise you with the paneling, what a team 👏
I’m off to look at little green paint now, thanks Micheal, I will also try the brush over the roller. One thing I love about you is your brutal honesty it’s so refreshing. Maybe Stephanie needs to relay the no more gifts for Micheal message or Xmas is going to be another drowning in gifts for you. I’ve an old copper pipe I’m going to send to Sean right now. 🤣
