Can I just say how much I adore that you go into detail about what you're doing and why you face certain difficulties? It's such a wonderful part of the story. Doing any sort of renovation is a ton of work, but these reminders that you two are working with random pieces that you didn't just go out and replace with an easier version is a true art form. Recognition that each of the flooring pieces were all made by hand and have aged, warped and are not completely uniform is so important. These details are so much a part of the beauty of these châteaux, but requires so much skill and understanding, and PATIENCE to sort out. I also love that you acknowledge the time Carole puts in as well. It's always lovely to hear a husband who not only realizes his wife's contribution but also likes to tell others. You guys are hilarious with your banter, but it's also so sweet to see how supportive you are of each other. Renovation of a home is one of the highest causes of divorce because of the stress (financial, loss of sleep, disagreements around design etc) and you two are really showing how it should be done. It's hard not to over-think it. I do the same thing and in the end (98% of the time) the simplest and easiest way wins. You guys are doing a great job. It's absolutely gorgeous.

The grande salon looks fantastic already. You've both worked incredibly hard, and your attention to detail is amazing. Can't wait to see the floor finished as it'll pull everything together and set the room off

Carole and Adrian, it must feel like no time at all until you were both ‘back to the grindstone’ with the renovations but I don’t think it would take you long to get into the rhythm again? Although the curtains and the flooring are huge jobs yet to be finished, seeing the room coming nearer to it’s finished glory must give you both the inspiration and motivation to keep calm and carry on!? The floor will be wonderful with that lovely patterning.👏👌🥰

Happy New Year. You can recreate the dripping candle wax by using a hot glue gun. Glue around the top of the cardboard tube and let the glue drip down.

Im sure this would have been mentioned before - use a glue gun to replicate the wax on the lamp stand candles & paint it all to match the existing ones. Carol, you have the patience of a Saint doing all that gold leaf/paint. And what a champ his Lordship is doing that floor! Happy New Year.

Delighted you came back from your much deserved break with a clear mind. Sometimes, it takes us a while to see the 'forrest', especially when we've been focusing on the 'trees' day in and out. It took me some years to realize I could focus on every tiny little detail, or accept the beauty overall. Where the panels originally decorated...most likely not. Painting them makes complete sense. Spend time on more important parts of the project. You both are perfectionists...so am I. Please learn to let go. Life will be easier. There is so much more to do with your life project and time marches on. Ask yourselves, do we want to spend the rest of our lives striving for perfection and never complete the Chateau or do we want to have time to ENJOY the fruits of our labour, and take time to "smell the roses". I pray you choose the latter. I say this from personal experience. In October 2015 after several big moves, buying renovating selling houses in each country: USA to England to Peru to USA, Calif, Washington...bought house with a very large garden which had been beautiful once but completely gone to weeds. Besides the renovations to the house, etc. About 6 months after moving. I was struggling with Nerve pain on the left side of torso, arm, shoulder, back. I am left handed...I struggled to do most tasks. Went from one specialist to another, many different procedures, pain meds, chiropractor, acupuncture, etc. etc. Long story short. I am completely incapacitated. It's not to say that I gave up on the garden and everything else....not until the pain was screaming. In looking back , each season I did less and less due to the constant Neuropathic Nerve pain. I spend my days laying down. There is nothing more that can be done as far as medical. I am kept somewhat comfortable with high dozes of meds. I am isolated most of the time due to being immune compromised...and so on. It is important for me to share this with you because you so remind me of me. No time to mend when rest was needed...etc. PLEASE take care of yourselves....Life is Fleeting. I have never written down or shared ...I do not ask for pity. It took a while to accept that my life is completely changed. I am blessed for my extended family, who live in Peru, New Zealand, Spain and other places. They are my angels. I hope to find the strength to relocate on more time. Plans are underway for me to move to Peru to be with dear member of my adopted family, who will be caring for me. So you see I am blessed. Sadly my biological family is almost no where in the picture. I also have had to accept this. My circumstances are now different than yours, thank heaven!. We, your Supporters on youTube, and other Social media channels, of course want for you to continue, some times to your detriment. Think of your children who love you dearly and are supporting and encouraging....think of your sweet grandchild and how fast he is growing, think of your Mother and her Partner (sorry forgot his name, who are so lovingly helping. Think of each other and what you would do if one of you becomes incapacitated. I am not trying to frighten you, I am trying to be the voice of reason. If I upset you in any way, please forgive me. I promise I shall not share anything more about my life. After all this is your channel...it is about you. Blessings. 🙏🌟

The salon floors are already looking amazing, I can't wait to see them when they are completed. I know the floor install work must get tedious, and no doubt it feels like it will never get done. But keep in mind that the finished product will last for hundreds of years!

The drapery fabric is so lush, and a perfect underliner! The wallpaper is lovely, so soft and understated 💕always best to be understated, it will look good for 100 yrs. OMG, what a job. The floor is like a jigsaw puzzle. But you’ll do it!

Good decision to go plain behind the shutters. With a painting there is a critical decision point “when to stop” known to every artist. If you go on, there is an inevitable downward spiral. Later - That floor will be a masterpiece. What a jigsaw! Now on a train to airport to cross Australia east to west. 😁🌹 Love the fine gilding on lowerpanels, yay!

It's really coming together so nicely! I think there needs to be a bit of space in floor as even tho house is old, maybe there is still fluctuations with weather effects, etc, and it's ok if it's not absolutely perfect?! It's just wonderful to see the drapes and gold going on lower panels! I do hope you invite us all to have tea in the parlor, on the first day of completion! We could all send pics of ourselves at our places with tea. ,like I did with friends watching Downton Abby! Onward and Happy New Year!! 😃🫖
