Painting flowers 🌸 How does Hot Press Watercolor Paper work?

Hot Press Watercolor Paper - This week we tested out Hot Press watercolor paper in one of my Facebook groups and we came out with some fun and unexpected results. I originally was not trying to paint a flower, but it just turned into a little bouquet! That's what playing does for you. If you're new here, welcome to my channel!

Have to admit I am not a fan of hot press..i keep trying it but paint just seems to slide around on it. Maybe i will try to be more patient and experiment more. Thanks for the demo.

Lovely and fun video. Thank you for encouraging us to loosen up with hot press, it's easy to get uptight due to the lack of texture. I'm a little confused by the paint identification as Winsor and Newton artist grade paints. The product link in the description box goes to the professional line, but all the tubes in the video are the Cotman line, which are student grade. I find these behave quite differently, since the Cotman paint contains fillers and uses cheaper pigments than the professional line.

Thank you! The ones in the pallet are the professional paints. This was a live demo for our group, you do see the Cotman paints “cameo appearance” from a prior demo. 😎 Good spot - although for new students there is nothing wrong with cotman, I used them for my first 5 years and still do.🥰

Thanks for sharing @kellie Chasse . I use Hot press primarily because of the smooth surface that it offers. Pen and Ink sketches on hot press is much beautiful experience compared to cold press. But when it comes to coloring with water color hot press isn't the best option. Any suggestions ?

If you can believe it, this was my first set of hot press! I’ve always used coldpress because I layer a lot when I create seascapes. It holds glazes much better. 😁
