@@JTH-hm8ew UNC also had a sweet academic scandal for a decade - 2002 to 2011??? Now, that's one legacy for an "Elite" program. Something to be real proud of. When did Purdue have an academic scandal? Hmmmm....never.

He’s the epitome of a great coach and if I had a son who played at a high level who wanted to get a good education I wouldn’t let him go anywhere but Purdue! Watched Matt play and love watching him coach.

@ the 14:05 mark: What a classy way to school Jack Johnson! Maybe Painter channeled a bit of Bobby Knight in his answer but scaled it back about 70%! My guess is that Jack is new to covering basketball and the NCAA tournament.

It has been ten years, but the impact Ronnie Johnson and his father had on Purdue basketball continues to guide Painter's approach to recruiting and team-building. It was a painful experience but Purdue has been better because of it.

How is it possible to be so sincere and so modest at his level? Wow

Coach Painter puts on a coaching clinic for coaches. He’s not afraid to share his wisdom. Heed Ye coaches- the sage speaketh.

That's the definition of building a winning program. I hope he can get Purdue to the Final 4 and beyond.

Painter is extraordinarily wise and articulate on his responses and is focused in. I would expect Purdue to get past Utah State by 12-15 points

We are blessed to have him.

The look on his face when the "question" comes up - "you're likely to win..." So impressive in response. Put the reporter in his place with the best answer. I'm an Illinois fan, but you all have a super solid coach and program. Program epitomizes what college sports should be about. Hope Illini move on, but rooting for Purdue otherwise. hard not to like a clean, well-run program.

Either the student reporter was looking to make a name for himself hoping that coach would put his foot in his mouth or just not good at coming up with legit questions.

It was a badly worded question especially from the Utah State newspaper reporter..maybe "You are expected to win" not "you are going to win" either that or he was trying to bait him into providing a bulletin board quote for his team...Painter`s reaction is disbelief
