While Galatian Raiders are pretty good (and just a cool unit) if you don't need their melee capabilities they are a bit too expensive. In normal land battle the Eastern Horse Skirmishers have elite javelins and very light mounts (melee not missile) so they run at 12 speed with only the light Numidian mounts at 13 being faster. So unless you are against someone with elite horse archer micro the Horse Skirmishers are just better at the skirmish aspect, baiting volleys, harassing, and not letting the enemy rest, than the Raiders. They are also much cheaper so you don't lose as much when they go down. All that said the Galatian Raiders are basically a Celtic Light Horse with a sword instead of a spear and 7 javelins so they can still be used well, it's just harder.

I was very happy to see the announcement and the changes. A great move in the right direction! Thanks for the Rome 2, as always!! Love the classic Rome 2 battle that shows real strategy.

CA took a step in the right direction by posting that announcement and making those changes. Anyway, this was a great battle between two skilled players. The death of the Galatian general when it went after the Arevaci skirmishers really sealed the victory for the Arevaci. GG to both players.

I may be wrong, but it feels like counter play back and forth like this (which I love) only really shows up in Rome 2. Anyone else think it shows up in any other Total Wars?
