    This is an example of a sub-par install. If that car didnt have any film on it im sure it would be littered with chips. Remove the film and the paint will look 99% perfect which is its purpose.

    The problem is the film gets the chips in 90% of people don't remove the film because it's expensive. Also a possibility that when we remove the film that it's going to pull paint off the car because some of those chips definitely went past the film and then weaken the paint. Removing film is really hardcore It's pretty stressful on the panel

    PPF sucks only when the installer did a poor shoddy job. The PPF on my car is 3 years old and have done a cross country road trip. To-date I have no issue with the PPF installation that was done on my car. It still look like new as if it was installed yesterday.

    This is certainly a bad ppf install. But the biggest drawbacks of ppf are what is most important here. The ppf has ugly holes in it. In high visibility places and the customer doesn't want to spend money replacing it just to have it happen again. So it's not different than just having paint with chips. Actually it is different... We can do touch up paint and make it look better. I'll make a fuller more in depth video on ppf soon!

    Cheaper to replace the film than it is to repair the car’s paint. Without that film the car would have 50-100 chips. Looks like a teenager with acne if that car never had PPF. No thanks for a bunch “free” touch up paint over 100’s of chips. A proper paint job isn’t cheap.

    Agreed. The conversation is now what. Do you replace it. Or do you let the ppf collect chips then sell it with chipped film. What's the difference for your ownership? Nothing. If you swapped it out that's fine. But that's a expensive game to play.

    To be fair. I understand your point of view. But a lot of the peeled edges can be a mixture between poor install & improper washing techniques. At the end of the day this is a Lamborghini and if you care about the original paint ppf is the answer. I’d rather have rock chips and bird etchings in film rather than my paint work any day… This car definitely seems like a daily driver so it sees a-lot more abuse than most. Also I have seen cars sell better with PPF on the used market than not, it’s not typical but I am seeing it a lot more.

  • @STATUSDETAIL

    @@Gaptist repainting is more cost effective if you replace damaged ppf three times a year for a few years. You need to repaint anyway when the rock goes past your ppf and hits your paint anyway. Or have a big bubble when you re ppf. Reality is 99% of cars with ppf get sold 1-2 years later and the ppf saw a few thousand miles. This is the case in exotic cars. It's a good topic because there are two ways to look at it. No wrong answer really. But one way costs you more money for sure.

  • @STATUSDETAIL

    @STATUSDETAIL

    2 жыл бұрын

    I've never seen a few year old ppf job not have peeled edges if the car is used and washed regularly. Sure the car that's never driven looks great. But that doesn't get chips anyway. All the hypercars i have done have peeling ppf as well including the chiron. Many of my customers including a rare gt3 touring have full front end have chips that went past the ppf and hit the paint. The owner leaves it alone because he would need to body shop that bumper now to put new ppf on. Did that offer protection or just a loss of money? He can pull the ppf and just do touch up paint but the removal will add even more cost to what would have been free touch up work from me. Because the paint is compromised when you pull the ppf it's possible to pull the paint with the film. Competitor shops local to me have had this happen several times on Ferrari's. They tend to have thinner paint. That's a full repaint to fix. It's a headache The used hypercar market for millionaires and billionaires is unaffected by PPF installs. A local company here sells exotics all over the USA including this Urus. I Know they listed this car as includes full ppf! These cars especially during covid get bought and shipped sight unseen. Don't be the person that thinks it wise to pay extra for used ppf. That's called being taken advantage off. Installs like this cost money because new owner has to go to a detailer to have it removed and new PPF out on. So you would need dealership to remove it and have the paint pulling be there risk and not yours. Then you can put fresh stuff on. If they have paper work for a fresh ppf install with dates and photos to confirm a perfect tucked install then we can talk ... But that's never happened lol. If your buying a M3 or WRX or normal car and pay extra for used ppf then I'm sorry that happened. Ppf does not increase value on a car.

    Apart from protecting the paint from small rocks and chips, what really got me to use XPEL PPF is being able to wash and dry my car anywhere without worrying about swirl marks. I abuse the shit out of my PPF and honestly I never had any problems. All my edges are tucked and I applied it after a full 15K custom paint job, going 2 years strong. I also use it on all my carbon parts (hood, lip, skirt, diffuser, interior trims, seat back, etc.) because it also protects from UV and prevents the carbon yellowing.

Stek has virtually no orange peel and the hydrophobic top coat was impressive too. I do believe it's ten year warranty as well. As you mentioned this install was done by a blind person lol Even during this install we offered Xpel ppf. PPF is all personal value based. Getting a good install and getting your bumper done for example could be great value. The bumper will take the most hits and peppering effect. From there consider a hood. Regardless of that I'd do correction and ceramic to make the car look great and easy to clean. A full front ppf I'd nice when budget allows. But even a perfect install will experience issues like the ones in this video. So just fully understand what you are buying so your not disappointed in 6 months

    I have a 8 year old Camry (OEM option I assume 3M film) and a 4 yr old 4Runner (Xpel) that had PPF installed day one and the film still looks new. Edges are clean and only had a couple edge peel ups. Sure there is a couple small spots where the filmed is scuffed from I assume rocks but the 8 years/4 years and nice paint underneath I'd call that a win, especially in Wisconsin with both vehicles being parked outside year round. Btw I get you can use touch up paint and with a paint correction blend them in but you can only do so many paint corrections with modern paints being so thin. I will check out some of your other vids tho. ✌

    Your paint should put live your car if your getting paint correction by a professional that's removing onlyegsts needed vs a shop that's going fast and removing way to much. But in general ppf can be great for certain people. If you own cars for 10 15 years then it can certainly be helpful especially if you do a lot of highway driving. I hope that Camry isn't a half or quarter hood tho. Cars with ppf that old usually are. Especially if you park outside all the time that's going to have a line in your paint forever now. Like when you peel the film off. The paint was expanding and contracting at different rates from the spot with no ppf vs the normal paint. Out of curiosity are you "saving" the nice paint underneath for you or for when you sell it? If it's for you why not replace it now?

    This video is awesome. Thank you. I've been considering PPF and ceramic coating for my Mach 1, but the cost of PPF and a full ceramic coating is way too much. Plus, some detailers telling me they provide lifetime warranty on PPF. There is no way PPF last a lifetime as your video demonstrates. I'm going just for a ceramic coating and skipping PPF. I don't want to every 2-5 years spend thousands replacing PPF. All shops and other videos show the amazing results right after applying PPF not after years of use!

  • @STATUSDETAIL

    I agree there's no such thing as a lifetime anything. Ceramic or PPF. There can be like a lifetime service plan. Where you been x amount of money and they replace panels as needed. But a warranty kind of implies that the film itself will last forever. Nothing wrong with doing ceramic coating in correction and then doing touch-ups as needed 👍👍

    IMO the PPF it is worth it depending on the customer. If you’re like me and have a high end daily driver (Porsche Taycan Turbo S), and you plan to put a lot of miles on the car, not only will the car maintain its value better over time but it will essentially have a showroom finish as long as the car is properly cared for and major accidents are avoided. I’ve already had someone scrape the side of my front bumper to the extent of leaving paint and the damage came right off with a microfiber towel and some hot water. Again, it depends on the customer but for me it was well worth the cost.

    Ceramic is great! My newer videos show a little bit of a different opinion on PPF. The overall perspective in this video is still accurate. For example your PPF could look great and then you'll drive away and get a chip on the way home like I can syill happen. 9 times out of time you won't go to trip at all but you can still get a chip in the film which will suck and not look good. You can also get a chip that goes past the film and still hits the hood or bumper. So when you pull that off it still sucks because you still have damage. But if you get a great installation and you're using a film like STEK. The majority of the concerns that are in this video are not actually concerns. You might want to check out my video STEK vs xpel or watch my more recent stuff to get them more full picture. Don't get me wrong many other things I mentioned in this video are completely valid. But I'd watch one or two more videos to have the complete picture of PPF. If you PPF or not do a ceramic coating either way 👍

    i own an A5 ppfd hood and my dad an A4 no ppf, the A4 does have more miles yes but once you see the hood of that A4 youd want ppf. There is 1000s of small rockchips that go just into the clearcoat you prob couldnt polish out either (i have tried) which removes all the gloss and just leaves a horrible looking front end. so what do you want to do then? repaint the hood every 2-3 years? id rather rewrap it and keep original paint. my A5 got only one or two rockchips into the ppf, still looking brand new. A friend of mines BMW M4 competition has already gotten 10 big rockchips at 3000miles no ppf. In parts of europe with winter they throw small rocks and salt in the winter which is left everywhere on the roads. not all areas are the same and clean their roads. ppf only way to go for me. in addition to that we drive autobahn at high speeds even my windshields look bad at 30k miles already. I even want to try wraping the windshield, replacing that costs 3times the ppf job. I know people who need a windshield per year or even more then that. @@STATUSDETAIL

    I had a C8 Corvette, which I bought new and owned for three years, just sold it. There were no observable rock chips on this car when I sold it. Why? Because I don’t tailgate people on the freaking highway and I’m very careful when traveling at freeway speeds to keep distance between me and the cars in front of me. If you tailgate people on the freaking highway then yeah, your car is going to look like road rash city. So if you’re so concerned about preserving your paint , stop getting up close behind people put about 100 feet between you and the car in front of you and you’ll be fine. When I hear people say the front end is rashed with chips, I’m like well, stop tailgating.

  • @STATUSDETAIL

    @STATUSDETAIL

    Unfortunately no The primary reason that it turns yellow is is due to the glue more than the film but it's really all of it working together and it just kind of fails and goes bad. This should not be a common problem in the newer generations of film because they have more UV protection in them. But honestly I just don't think we're going to know until we see 10 or 15-year-old PPF that's been sitting in the sun for that entire time outside. Time will tell. Lots of cars have ppf now but are garage kept and not seeing uv damage it. So it's tough to tell if we truly solved that issue.

A Tesla could benefit from a hood and bumper potentially to keep cost low and maximize protection/value. You can add fenders but obviously more money. I'd definitely not recommend full body. The front options depend most on how you drive. How many miles In a year and how long you will keep it. And of course how much Rock chips bother you. Going the college fund route is definitely a good idea. The car will deprecate regardless of ppf coverage.

    Installer is a huge deal. Many issues mentioned in this video are fixed by a good installer and Stek ppf. As Stek has basically no orange peel. Besides that your ppf can still get chips and damage and still hit your paint. So you need to understand how ppf brings you value in your situation. If it does then go for it. Otherwise your mentioned plan is great 👍

    PPF can be very helpful when it's installed correctly in perfectly by a good installer and choosing the correct PPF is also very important. But in general it's a product that brings you value like you personally get value from it. It's not building value into your car it's not making it more expensive when you sell it. It's literally costing you money and you will take a loss on the overall experience financially. So if you get a bad install and you get a bad film put on your car you're kind of losing all the way around in my opinion.

    From my perspective as an installer what i saw is a few errors of overhanging pieces which is guarantee issue. And for the stonechips you showed, for me its the film does what its made for. Protecting a vehicle from chip damages. You can not see the difference individually but if you compare a car with ppf on and without on the same circumstances the ppf does its job. We saw terrible scars and scratches on film and in 95% the film protected the paint. And of the 5% comes from car crashes where the not just paint scratched. This market is evolving continously. Better products with top coating, anti yellowing, etc. There are some annoying things with ppf i hate as well but its a good thing. Cannot compare in price imo when its a original factory painted car with almost no paint errors with a repainted (“sure it was broken”) or destroyed paint car. It doesnt matter if its a hypercar or is it just a Prius. Lots of installers out in the world who takes care its job and making that kind of finish you wont believe its ppf. No offence it just an installers opinion.

    I appreciate your comment. It's well written and as unbiased as can be for a installer. I agree with your points. The main issue or conundrum for a customer in my opinion is value. Because that's what ppf is all about. You buy it and you expect good value meaning no chips and no repaints. So on PPF does get a chip that's bad enough to bother you which is what you're trying to avoid in the first place and literally why you paid the money. You get into a situation where now you want to replace that panel or in worst case two or three panels like a hood bumper and fender for example maybe say one and a half years in. In my experience most customers will not replace anything once they get the bill for what it will cost to actually pull it prep it and replace it. And now we're going down that rabbit hole of was it actually a good value. I'm not necessarily arguing that the PPF didn't do its job or that the car would look worse or better with or without the PPF. I'm most concerned about did that customer actually get what they expected out of the film or did they end up getting poor value a year and a half later and it takes that long to find out. Hope that makes sense. We install ppf and I'll begin to learn how to myself soon. So our business obviously has ppf customers. I just do my best to ensure customers know exactly what they are getting into.

Im not into anybodies wallet but if someone owns lets say a 100k car and the ppf goes bad after a year or so or got damages that stand out i think changing the film doesnt has to be a controversial thing. I would definitely take it some of my replies to similar questions like this one in this video is comment section but also in my other PPF videos. In general in my opinion getting a brand new car paint corrected and ceramic coated is always kind of a no-brainer if you're keeping it for more than basically 12 months. I believe for the average car enthusiast that's just going to make it a more fun enjoyable process to own it's going to be easier to clean it's going to be more glossy and it's just going to look better than what it was brand new. If you want to do PPF I would only be recommending a full front in my opinion I would not do full body I think that's a tremendous waste of money on a car like that unless you fall into a very specific category of person that might actually find value in full body and that's pretty rare If you did that full front it would be because you were going to track the car occasionally drive a large amount of highway miles and you know you're driving style well enough that you know the car will get rock chips because you're previous cars have been riddled with them. For example I live near cornfields in a farm area I rarely drive with cars in front of me and when I'm on the highway I keep a very large distance between that car and me and I basically have one rock chip on a car that several years old I can totally live with that. I also have customers who drive in similar fashion to what I do but they tailgate people like crazy on the highway and they have 27 rock chips in the front of the car so that just comes down to how you drive your car. So as you can see lots of factors. If you'd like you can shoot me a message or DM on Instagram and we can talk about it It would be happy to help even though you're in Texas

    @@STATUSDETAIL thank you so much for the detailed reply. I just left you a DM on Instagram. I really appreciate you taking the time to help me even though you're not in my area. I figured I would post this reply here for others benefit or if anyone wanted to chime in. That's really what I was looking for is to prevent rock chips and make it easier to clean. I have a non Z51 and after the first 20 miles I ended up with a rock chip on the drivers side door which is what led me to this search. I heard it when it happened on the highway and it looks horrible. I didn't fix it since I'll be selling it when the Z51 arrives. I actually am not that aggressive of a driver (even though it's hard in the C8) and I always have plenty of distance between myself and other drivers, especially since its a pet peeve of mine. I don't drive on the highway that much but that could change. It's interesting because I have a black 2008 Honda Accord that has 173k miles on it that's been my daily driver since I bought it new, and there's only a few rock chips on it and that has seen many bad winters in the North East for about 10 years before I moved to Dallas. I do like the easier to clean idea with ceramic coating and I absolutely love the glossy look, so I would love to keep that look. I actually only wash the current C8 about once a week if that since it's parked in a garage at my apartment complex and I don't drive it in the rain. I am kind of lazy when washing it too since I go to a self serve and only use the wand (not the brush) and I don't use any sponges. I've thought about finding a car wash that allows me to use a sponge (although I could probably do it at the one I go to on a slow day) but I've also been afraid of causing scratches and swirl marks, etc. With the Vossen wheels it will be hard to keep them clean so the company I ordered the wheels from offered to clear coat them (I think that's what they called it) for a small fee which I'm considering. I didn't know if I was going to get the car ceramic coated and if I did if it makes sense to just have them do the whole car including the wheels and maybe the calipers? I know the brake dust from the Z51 is crazy and I was also considering low dust pads for that issue. I probably won't ever track the car just because if I want to go on a track I can rent one through DriveXotic for less hassle and I don't have to do all the prep. Plus my car won't get the wear on it. I'm going to keep this car for years, maybe forever so it will be well over 12 months which is a big part of why I'm considering all of this.

    I never recommend a half hood. That unfortunately basically destroyed your hood. When you pull that piece off your going to have a line in your hood you will never get out. Especially on a daily driven truck for 6 years. Your paint expands and contracts and the ppf section expands and contracts at a different rate than the non ppf area. The glue is holding the paint basically. So when you pull that ppf off you will have a line in the paint/clear unfortunately. I actually have this on my daily because the previous owner did a quarter hood. I got most of it out but removed a lot of clear coat. Hearing it up with paint correction process helps smooth it out but never perfect. As mentioned you are in a situation now where if you pull the film and redo it it won't look perfect because of the spots that it hit the hood. If it's really bad you could also need a repaint. If you need a repaint.... In my opinion I'd rather had no ppf. Repaint and cut all that ppf cost out of equation.

    Consider that your paint may have looked worse if it didn't have PPF. The PPF gets chipped but those are very hard hits. Some of the lesser hits won't damage the PPF. I had a 2015 Lexus RC 350 F sport years ago with no PPF. Front end panels including the leading edge of the roof were so pitted and chipped after a year and half. Cost over $10k to repaint all those large panels (hood, fenders, A-pillars, front bumper). Since then I've gotten PPF on all my cars. Sure there are some chips but they are so few in number, and most the impacts leave no marks on the film.

    So, what is the best way to protect a front bumper? I have a Tesla Model S and the paint is pretty crappy and thin. After a few months of driving it's got a bunch of little marks from road debris. I was thinking PPF would be better than a ceramic coating or regular waxing because the paint is so susceptible to chipping and scratching. Even if the PPF gets scratched, my logic was the actual paint would still be in better condition under the coating than without the coating.

    PPF is the only way you'll stop or at least mitigate rock chips on your paint. You have to make sure you get an extremely good install. 100% if it was less expensive it would be tremendous value. But it's priced as a one time ownership 10 year warranty product. If it was less expensive then the replacement would be no big deal. It's sacrificial layer. But at it's current price most people can't afford to treat it as one.

    I think the current technology of PPF is poor. We are pretty good about wrapping edges especially the front facing ones. We hand cut everything so we can custom wrap everything. Plotter cut wraps usually have what your describing. The problem with ppf is that on certain panels you can't wrap certain angles and edges because it will peel back over time. Vinyl is more versatile I'm the way it can bend and stretch. This makes it easier to fully wrap. Ppf is significantly thicker than vinyl and that makes it harder to work with.

    I think a ceramic coating is a fantastic idea and if it's in the budget you should basically always do it ceramic will not protect you from any kind of rock chips or any kind of damage to your paint. It can be beneficial against bird poops UV sun fading and in general will help your car stay cleaner longer and just look more glossy for a longer period of time slight scratch resistance It's a typical characteristic of ceramic as well. Hello Leanne. You can go wrong ceramic coating a new car! It will help will swirl marks and light scratches but certainly not impervious to those things. It will keep the car cleaner longer and add great gloss! Consider having your glass and wheels coated too! Put the left over money from not doing ppf into future maintenance details and a full ceramic and paint correction job 2-4 years after the first application. The car overall will look better more consistently with this approach and you in my opinion get the best value. Have your detailer put touch up paint on the bad big chips during maintenance! Just my two cents. A good ppf install that's done properly might help stop a few of the big chips but will certainly be expensive in comparison to the above listed approach in this comment. I don’t know where you live guys, but if you live in a place that has an actual winter, and shitty roads (like northern Europe for example), you will appreciate what PPF can do for the appearance of your car. I understand your points you have made BUT it has protected the paint. If you add seat covers the seat cover will age etc… however remove the seat covers and you have new seats. I prefer the ceramic coating and live with the rock chips that will happen with use. The wrap is great for when you go sell 3-5 years later and pull the old wrap and have a brand new looking car to hopefully bring a higher purchase price. IMO

    PPF improving value when you sell it is a total false statement and I'm going to explain that in the video coming up soon It's just an inaccurate assumption that everybody makes. It might have protected the paint but it really that great if a customer is the kind of person who doesn't want to pay to remove it so now he's stuck with what you're looking at in this video? More importantly if we pull it off to put new film on some of those strips may have went past the film and we put new film I still going to have blemishes which results in a repaint no matter what. But I do a great PPF can be helpful in many different situations. The reality is simply that most people don't see value in it

    I always enjoy multiple view points when it comes to a product. While your video was focused on paint protection (as embedded in the name of PPF), there was not a lot of discussion of protection film for headlights. I personally think it offers a huge benefit for protecting the headlight lens from both UV and rock damage. I know some headlights run hot and can damage the film / adhesive over time, but a re-application would be significantly less than a new headlight especially on some lights that are either difficult to obtain or extremely expensive. I've read and experience many positives for film protection on headlights. There is the argument for specific applications such as type of vehicle lights, environment, and usage. Curious if you or others have observed similar benefits.

    What's your alternative here? I guess watching this video just left a bad taste in my mouth about PPF, but for all the wrong reasons. You get it to prevent rock chips from destroying your paint not to literally prevent rocks from hitting it, and it seems to me like installation is key with these things. I guess just some criticism that if you aren't advocating for or against you should probably throw some pros in there to prevent your bias towards not liking PPF. Why'd you get PPF is my ultimate question. If not for protection then this is kind of a useless video to me. Just my 2 cents I guess.

I do offer ppf and our installs are top notch. But this video talks about what people don't like to talk about. Especially installers to there customers. Ultimately ppf brings value to you if your situation is right for ppf. And that's a conversation you need to have with a honest installer. Picking the right film.... Watch my new video... Is key and having a really good install that doesn't look like this is important too.

    We had a video recently hit 170k so that was exciting!!! Xpel stealth serves a purpose and I can get on board with that. I made a video with a green turbo s that explains more if your curious! Stealth is not about protection to me. It's about altering the appearance. Protection is a bonus. Clear PPF is not altering the appearance it's only about protection so you lose half the value. Doing just a bumper or just a hood can certainly be valuable depending on your situation! Just remember all the key points from this video ... When your ppf gets all chipped up will you replace it? If no... Is it worth $600 to have the same outcome plus you can't use touch up paint then. If your trying to protect it for the next guy that's cool. We just see cars different then. I buy a car to enjoy it for me. Not the next guy. A few silly people tried to argue in comments that ppf Increases used car prices. Complete nonsense. Especially when the film is damaged and in bad shape. It's literally a negotiating peace at that point because you need to remove it and that cost money and has risks. If it's brand new PPF with attached invoice showing a recent install date then MAYBE you can start a case to say it adds money on a used car of something unique.

  • @STATUSDETAIL

    I'm not sure what your referencing in regards to window tint? Gyeon prep can be used on ceramic tint. I use it on my cars for years. Prep works fine on ceramic coated cars but prep is a tool with a purpose. So use it when it's needed. Not as a quick detailer or routine thing you're spraying and wiping. If you wash your car and have odd residue or want to apply a ceramic based sealant and want string bond you'd wash then prep then apply your ceramic based product. Same if your reapplying a topper like exo. I use prep after using a ceramic sealant sometimes if the product was going bad for example and leaves bad residue. Prep is made to remove residue and polish oils for a ultra bare clean surface. It will not strip healthy ceramic. But using it daily would slowly degrade it. Using it once a month because you need to remove something weird. No problem.

    Save your money and enjoy your car. If you own it for many years and your bumper gets really bad you can repaint. If you do tons of track time or driving with friends on cup 2s then it can be helpful to have ppf. If you drive over 12k miles a year it can help too. In all those situations the ppf will be destroyed after a year or two tho. So you still would need to replace it to maintain the new look and that will be expensive and virtually no one redoes the ppf and eats that cost two times.

    Try colored PPF, dry install more like vinyl wrap and be tucked around edges with all of PPF's protection at 8mil thick and self healing etc. Since it's colored, even if it lifts and dirt collect under, you can't see through it. They got solid colors, carbon fiber, glitter, color shifts PPF just like vinyl wraps.

  • @STATUSDETAIL

    @STATUSDETAIL

    Жыл бұрын

    I actually think colored PPF is pretty cool. Stekakes it and it's what we use for our clear ppf too. PPF in my opinion is all about value so when the value is really in the color change in the protection is kind of built in that in my opinion provides excellent value obviously you're going to need to go install no matter what. But for the average person who maybe has a $50,000 car and they want a color change again the value is in the change of color the protection comes second. We're talking purely protection because we're doing clear film that's when it gets more complicated in terms of what value is in my opinion and usually that's best for people who would really high-end cars and really specific driving situations

    1. Reputable shops will have a method of replacing PPF at a greatly reduced cost for rocks that tear the film. For example, the shop my PPF is from (and I also work there) has a free warranty added onto XPEL's warranty where any film tear in the hood can be fixed by removing and re-installing new film for only $250. Headlights are $25/each. This is if we installed the film originally and is valid for 10 years from installation date. 2. That dirt around the edges can be cleaned with a detail brush and some PPF cleaner or even alcohol. We see and clean those areas on white cars from time to time when/if that happens. 3. Roughly 95% of rock impacts (based on my many years handling PPF) don't tear the film. Over 4 years on my daily driver I've got 3 spots on the hood. For just $250, I can have this redone if it bothers me enough. 4. We've had plenty of customers get more from their car sale for having PPF installed. Your $2mil example is an extreme example; our daily drivers we see every day has benefited from better sales with PPF installed when our customers sell them then return to us for PPF on their replacement vehicle. PPF absolutely is worth the investment. We've had customer after customer wish they had PPF when their front end looks like a shotgun went off on it. When they return with their second, third and fourth vehicles, they wrap the front end at minimum now. Maybe it's our in-house warranty that helps, but this stuff is totally worth it. My 2008 328i still looks brand new with PPF.

    Some good points. My view on PPF has changed but many points in this video remain the same. Your warranty system sounds great. That's rare. On normal cars and even exotic ones you will not make profit in ppf. That would mean the car is worth more than all other cars for sale plus the cost of your original install. That won't happen ever. I worked in a Buyers office of a fortune 500 company for 5 years. No one ever got More money. Especially ten grand more like in a full body car. PPF is personal value based. How much is it worth it to you to not have chips. I'll need to make a video on this one day lol. The math is pretty simple.

I kept telling the owner of our shop that we should set pricing for these situations and it’s a huge plus. It’s much easier to sell and recommend our PPF when we have a system in place for these rare cases. I find that funny because a lot of my sales come from people watching this video and then they specifically say that they want me to install their film and I now have a customer who is probably the best educated customer ever on what paint protection film is and how it works and what it's going to give them. Paint protection film is a value-based product. So if the customer understands what the product is it's limitations and how it gives them value then you have a happy customer. You also have a customer who will buy paint protection film From you again! Instead of one time and be mad it didn't self heal Rock chips or some other myth that was used when it was sold to them.
