Mary, what about having a team of tiny dwarves that would clear your mucous every day. They would also have a saying: Don't forget to clear your mucous every day :) How about that?

how long do they think she'll be in there... I was stuck in one for 6 weeks 5 weeks I don't remember because I was in a coma. BUT the last week I did every thing I could do physically to get out of there. If it had not been for my eldest daughter and grand daughter willing to move in with us I would of had to go to a nursing home for about a year. That would of drove me nuts... I had a broken left arm and my left hip, leg, and foot didn't work right...And still don't four years latter...I hate hospitals and feel for those who are stuck being in them for a length of time... I'm a older guy and stuck in my ways I guess and need my freedom... My family says that I'm not a good patient at all. I try hard to be nice and sweet but I'm still a old biker that needs freedom... LOL'.... We are praying for y'all... Ollie seems to be taking it well...

I've had three ports and I believe what is making yours so painful is your coughing. Getting a port of course has some pain involved but adding coughing on top of that would just magnify the pain. You'll like the new power port. They can even do TPN feedings through it. I know this from experience. Good luck with your new port... I believe it is purple... mine is. Take care.

So...i don't comment a lot but this made me think of something. So my mother's(God rest her soul-glioblastoma) best friend, Auntie Gayla, had this dog. (Mom is gone auntie is still her and just survived breast cancer) Anyway when I was little she has this tiny yorkie. She loved that dog like person...who doesnt? She gave that dog mouth to mouth once.....so George the yorkie was so small he jumped off the couch and broke his leg. So he had to have a very expensive 10k$ Surgery with a pin through his whole back leg. But when he finally passed she has him cremated and has that pin made into an earring. She was like...thats a 10 thousand dollar earring I'm keeping that thing! So anyway...jewlery is an option. a necklace, a charm....thought it was a cute story.

Hee hee, I was giggling yesterday at the footage of you in post op. I was looking in your eyes thinking, "This chickie is not aware of what she is saying. I don't think she will remember later". LOL! That was so funny to see! I'm glad you have pain meds on board, and I'm praying sleep is more comfortable tonight! I'm glad you are on the other side of this and now recovering! ((REALLY Gentle hugs)). ;)

I think I have left a total of about 3 comments on KZread ever. But, I have not been able to get you guys off of my mind. I owe both of you a HUGE thank you!! I am still having trouble grasping that people I have never met have had such a dramatically positive impact on my life and the life of my family. I have had a port in place for about 18 months, but it was only used in the hospital and I did not have access to it myself. I was too afraid to do it myself and I had none of the supplies and training. I just took no for an answer. Until I saw your port videos. I watched them over and over. After seeing you do it, I was convinced that I could do it too. So I started pounding the pavement (with you guys in my pocket for support if I needed it). Long story short (kind of) I now have 100% control over accessing and maintaining my own port. But, it gets even better than that! I am now set up at home to administer medication through my port that previously would have landed me in the hospital over and over again. Last year I spent Thanksgiving, Christmas and New year's Eve in the hospital. This year I will be spending them at home with my family. Thank you!!

2 things: 1) I love how y'all answer your subscribers' questions so respectively, fully aware that most people don't know about CF. Thank you! 2) My sister is a child life specialist at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston and I always give her a heads-up to watch your blog when you give child life a shout-out!

Mary, you could make one of those colored paper chains that little kids make to decorate your room as you stay longer. Keep up your spirit.
