The simple answer is, you're not. The games have all been explicitly designed assuming you will interact with the rest of the fanbase. I mean there's a reason they keep bringing back the message system for every single game, they WANT these games to be a community effort.

the whole route to getting to him is frankly unfair. If they wanted to make it so resource intensive they should've made the entire game that way... Honestly one of the best fights because how much REAL resources you spend

I mean you kinda have to find the route that you find to be easiest. I wouldn't say there is an obvious to that but 1 of them is definitely a stand out harder route than the others.

I love Shulva design and atmosphere, but first time through it can be really rough. If you dont find that first bonfire it's not a fun time. They made bonfires too obscure in Shulva imo.

You got a great set of armor under Castle Drangleic that you unfortunately didn't look at. Regardless it would be very beneficial to Emma if she were to go down there and get that set. BTW your persistence and dedication is amazing.

I love seeing you push through the rage and learn the best parts of these games. DS2 doesn't deserve nearly as much hate as it gets imo. But your playthrough of the Dark Souls series is my favorite out of every other one I've seen.

The Black Witch's Staff is really holding you back. The Sunset Staff is the strongest hex staff and you were constantly casting staff hexes like Dark Orb with the much weaker Black Witch's Staff.

How is Black Witch's Staff holding her back? Accidentally casting Dark Orbs with it was just due to not using two staffs before. She even tried to cast Darkstorm with Sunset Staff at one point. Does it mean that Sunset Staff is also holding her back?

@@jt263 The Sunset Staff is the strongest hex staff in the game so casting staff hexes with any other staff is going to lower her damage. She also already has Caitha's Chime which is one of the strongest hex chimes in the game. The Black Witch's Staff can cast both staff and hex chimes but the drawback is that it's not as strong as dedicated options. If she's already going through the trouble of equipping two catalysts then she should be using the Sunset Staff combined with Caitha's Chime.

@@james86848 It's not that simple. Black Witch's Staff is significantly better at casting sorceries than Sunset Staff and those have been used since the beginning. The damage difference between Caitha's Chime and Black Witch's Staff is tiny. The former casts spells faster(which is mainly important at PvP) at the cost of not being able to cast any miracles(one was equipped in this episode). It's most logical to cast Dark Orbs with Sunset Staff and use Black Witch's Staff for everything else. Double staffing confusion goes away with time.

Cant say its holding her back when shes not struggling with the game, her ranged magic is actually making it quite easy for her, especially when shes played through most of it so far with Emmalition.

Good to see DS2 is back! I actually just did my first playthrough of this game recently and completely missed the Darklurker, so it's cool to see you play through it.

I did the dark lurker area shortly after the game was released and, from memory, the enemies were almost all real players summoned in by the game.

My most vivid memory of DS2 is being invaded by the same player every single time I made the run back to Darklurker. As someone who's generally really bad at pvp, I can't even guess how many effigies he cost me!

The darklurker looks like the last boss from silent hill 1.

Hi, glad you got back to DS2. Just so you know, you CAN do COOP with Ema even if you killed the boss in the area in DS2. You just have to use Small White Soapstone. It have short timer, but you can get resummoned infinitely.

I'm glad to have seen a new Dark Souls 2 upload from you. I am also glad that you did not go Hollow (metaphorically), especially during your fight against the Darklurker. I've seen a few people that have had equal or worse experience like you, if I recall I think one I person I watched ran out of Human Effigies during their repeated fights. I love that you made quick work of the Royal Rat Vanguard with Firestorm, I don't think I have seen anyone clear it that fast lol. (I made this comment just in case I forgot to post my comment after I watched this video. Which I think I did forget lol)

You can get that predator mask 😝 Edit: it was a clue. Where is the darkness darkest? Edit: the song you heard was a clue to go back to the shrine of Amana. Edit: the ladder mini isn't a ladder. Edit: you were right, if you used a torch you could find all of those hidden ledges, and it also doubles as an unbreakable weapon to get rid of all of the poison statues. Edit: for the black mage's staff, YEAH! it IS awesome! 😁 one of the best staves in the game when maxed out, and the diversity on the spells is great

Can't believe you did Darklurker. Pretty sure almost no one even finds Darklurker first playthrough, let alone beats it.

When looking for secrets, torches and messages help. I recommend liberal usage of both. There is also a light spell that you might find useful since you can keep both hands free

Great work with Dark Lurker! The birb you rescued is worth the visit in Brightstone near the lower plaza regions. It's that really weird room down there full of dolls. In terms of finding things is a bit of where you might access before other places, and whipping out a torch and inspecting areas with it. I myself found Lucatiel down there on my own trying to find out where to get to the other tunnels. Speaking of, Lucatiel is next at the bonfire in front of Aldia's Mansion. Speaking of, in the SotFS you should light the fire spot up top and head back toward the entrance. There's a bit you haven't seen in the Mansion yet.

I don't remember if you got it but in DS2 there is an item called the Small White Sign Soapstone, Pate gives it to you in Forest of the Fallen Giants, this soapstone allows you to be summonned even if the player has killed the boss of the area. So in a situation like you showing Emma stuff in Black Gulch she could summon you if you used that.

Fun fact: it is possible to have the Darklurker as your very first boss in this game. Insanely hard to make that happen though.

This is definitely the best game to do hexes. Grandahl and Felkin do a good job of promoting the Dark so it feels like a reasonable choice. Back in DS1 it was also more obviously the human option that was suppressed by the propaganda of the Gods/the Light. In contrast, it feels much more like a crazy sect in DS3.

Some people find Darklurker really hard from what I've heard, but I dunno, I beat it on the first try with my sorcerer every time I did it. I think most people never even fight it though because it's the most hidden and optional boss in the game.

Now that you're using the Black Witch's Staff, you could try some healing miracles next time you co-op with Emma since they heal all allies near the caster too

Better use sacred chime to cast dark miracle, because it is more powerful. Witch Tree staff and chime is a fine set, they have the fastest cast speed. Black Witch Staff only advantage is enabled to cast both dark sorcery and dark miracle of hexes with one catalyst, so can equip the offhand with pyro flame. Use Ring of Whisperer to talk to certain NPCs you can't understand their language.

Watching you play DS2 is almost making me want to play it again. Almost. But it's enjoyable to watch you play anyway. You should also give Remnant: From the Ashes a try. Lots of lore and world building stuff to be found in that game

I have to say Darklurker is one of my favourite bosses in the base game, just don't enjoy the gank you have to through to get to it.

People find these hidden things because from software gave clues of how you reach these places, unfortunately the clues only appeared on the release of each dlc as a message on majula's obelisk, dark lurker is not a dlc boss, but it is intended to be very hidden, and if anyone managed to find him the rumours would spread and more people aware of him, and then leave the messages so more people could find them, increasing the lifespan of the game, just like you did with Emma. You probably already figured at this point but: About the rat vanguard boss, after you kill some rats, a stronger one spawn and this one is the real boss, you can tell the difference he is very different from the others. The item on the ledge that you have to jump is a miracle casting item, and also a shield. Its useful but not important. About the Scorpion guy, maybe its useful to talk to a certain npc, like it was with the old witch ring on DS1. About the notes, keep reading them, some are just trolling but there are useful stuff pointed by the notes, and they part of the game design, people that complain about it wants everyone to clear the game offline, without summons, naked and with the unupgraded club. Nice work finding and beating dark lurker.
