I lost count on how many times i've watched this sequence. Graceful Padmini and thunderbold Vaijayanthi Mala. Both of them rock🤘. Now a days what people call dance🙈🙈 is dust of dusts compared to such a great choreography.

Vyjayanthimala is The Real Tamil Princess and Nobody can even come near her Dance and Expression 💝💝💝

I think they intended for Padmini’s dance to look more elegant and classical and Vyjayanthimala’s dance to looked more rushed and aggressive, you can tell by the music. Padmini’s outfit is also made to look more refined. It’s hard to decide who’s best when their dance styles were meant to be expressed differently. Nonetheless, they were both extremely talented.

As per the storyline Padmini's dance moves are refined and Vyjantimala dance moves are other way aggressive. That's director's view point. We are here to enjoy the classical dance of both the legend actresses.. Big salute to both..

I am a North Indian. I thought vyjyanthimala was the only best classical dancer in India. After seeing this wonderful performance, I feel padmini is best in classical dance and her acting is great too. Her expressions, charisma,movements...all are perfect. Both of them are stunning but padmini ji is really awesome 👌

Thanks Mallika for the details, you have observed. Here the director and producer made it hard to act them together.. Actually both of them, padmini and mala were prime at this time.. so the production company hesitant if they will agree to this duo fighting dance.. It happened and we are lucky to witness it to date

My jaws dropped! How did they pull off this "mother of all dances" especially at a time when they had no high tech computers and musical instruments? Mind-boggling dance sequence by two legends, Padmini and Vaijayanthi Mala. This Magnum opus will survive another 100 years amid all this techno digital crap.

can't imagine how they managed to shoot these kind of tough songs those days with very less technology.. salute them...

They don't need a choreographer. They do themselves. Most of Padmini songs she only did choreography, if you are not aware.

I m from Bangladesh. I can't understand that lyrics. Bt ultimate dance performance. I m very felt to be not born a tamilan. I love tamil traditional lot.

95% of the song was taken alone. The director didn't allow both actresses to dance together. They did without how the other had danced. They put in so much efforts for this masterpiece.. 🤩🤩

@@subhodeepghosh6200 It is g true. Tik the climax scene this song was shot separately. They both were competitor to each other on screen. both are equally and well trained exceptional dancers. I read at one point the director was highly confused as to how to end the song. It's impossible for one to defeat the other. Just impossible. Finally they shit it in a way that Gemini Ganesan cuts off the chandelier.. SS vasans daughter has commented here somewhere in the comments section about the time when she was there during the shoot and when vaijayantimala would boudir their home... Vaijayantimala herself has spoken in an interview

Padmini took a break from acting and dance, but Vyjayanthimala continued to dance. She is in her 80s but was performing at least once a year till recently. Both are legends.

Yesterday only read a old magazine when directed narrated the song sequence both Vyathanthi mala refused that i will not win coz padmini is excellent classical dancer the same padmini also refused stating that mala is an excellent kathak dancer so director changed the song script by cutting the light lamp.. excellent heroines

I have had the previledge of seeing padmini's dance in 1972 and 3 decades later was in the audience and joined her at the stage to remind her of what she asked the audience in 1972 as she repeated same in 2002. Nalanthana? Directors have brought out the best of best in dancing decades ago.What a dynamic pair unparalled in history of dance.

These actress is it this is the real Bollywood the music and song and dance is one hundred percent traditional and India. I watched these movies since I was a little girl with my parents, today Bollywood movies you don't see nothing like this they are more westernised thank you for this classic 🙏🇨🇦🌸🦚

I’m sure there are talents like Vyjayanthi and Padmini in this era... but the producers and directors are blind to them., they only choose someone with “flawless” appearance or glamorous actress or simply just pick from any beauty pageants. This is why future talents see this traditional way seemingly unnecessary...and they option for modeling . Sad. But I seriously love these actress, they help me improve my dance skill. If any eye movements, i would refer to them too.
