PADDLING THE OXBOW SECTION OF THE GRAND RIVER.....EASY SHUTTLE!!!

So it's a beautiful sunny day and you feel like getting into your kayak or canoe for a paddle...but you don't feel like driving two hours north...why not just check out the The Oxbow section of the Grand river? It is close to Brantford Ontario but feels like you are in the wilderness as there are no buildings or docks along the shore. What is unique about this location is that after paddling 15 km you end about one km from where you started. Shuttling your vehicle to the take out point at the Newport bridge is very easy and you can just walk back to the starting point at the Cockshutt bridge! I do this trip often as it is only a one hour drive from Mississauga Ontario. This is a popular route you may want to give a try. Hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching!!

I actually lived the first 20 years of my life about 5km from there and I've never done this. You've inspired me. I think I will next time I'm home to visit my parents

If you had the energy to pack food etc you have the energy to take the garbage with you and dispose of properly. It's actually lighter when you eat the food.

A clever solution for a single-vehicle shuttle - good location! Did you lock up your kayak somehow or just stash it? I don't really have a secure place on my boat to fasten a cable but have been thinking about attaching a stainless fastener somewhere on it. I can't even guess at what those steps were about but I always enjoy the little bits of historical interest you include in your videos. 👍 I too am trying to figure out why people seem not to care about the garbage - or graffiti - they leave behind in the wilderness. Oh well.

Hi!..I didn't lock up my kayak..I just hid it in some trees and down a little ditch so it was not visible from the road. I am interested in local history and can't resist sharing it when i come across something. Glad you like my video and thanks for your great comments!!
