Hey Billy, My practical lens would be a 35 1.4 or an 85 1.8 because I do portraits, though a 200 f2 would be the dream portrait lens for me. But my kit needs a second body. Looking to hear what you think of the Z6II.

Solidified here. The lighting modifiers and such are not the sexy / fun content like the lenses. I was at the camera store recently buying a couple strip boxes and grids and was just like ugh. But the guy working was like well, this stuff really does make a difference. I did have to agree.

I agree, the lenses are much more fun, but the modifiers do make a huge difference in upping your lighting game!

LOL that bag...too small to fit the actual drone, but too big for other stuff. Perfect for a few pocket wizards and corresponding cords/cable ties.

The joke's on me. I bought a little pouch for my PWs and that bag is sitting empty taking up shelf space!

Its gotta be super exciting heading to spring training! I have been following your channel, very informative videos. My name is Ted from Sebastian, Florida, I"m a sport photographer ( all Nikon ) with Florida Sport Photography. High School baseball has finalized rosters and ready for next weeks first game, weather is Fantastic!! There is a Boston Red Sox player who is helping with coaching duties. His name is Lane Milligan, a catcher for minor league. Super nice guy and the players really like him. We are so fortunate as we have three other trainers with MLB experience plus the main coaches. Best of luck this season, I'll be watching.....and shooting.

Very interesting to see a behind the scenes look. Sports in Europe is nowhere near as big as in the US, most teams don't even have staff photographers. Lots of envy :-) Keep up the good work on the videos!

What lens would you pressional lens should i get for my nikon d500. i have a 70mm to 300m vr lens right now?

Hello Billie, As a great Toronto Blue Jays fan from The Netherlands, I do really enjoy your channel with all these great videos about sports! I'm glad you're not the NYY photographer because I wouldn't be a fan of the channel .....Not a fan of NYY at all. I love baseball and it's a popular sport in The Netherlands but without a big-league like in the USA, where it's soccer that rules the sports world here in The Netherlands. I'm an amateur photographer and started with sports photography about 11 years ago for a site that highlights amateur soccer in and around my hometown. This also includes the pro soccer club from Deventer the Go Ahead Eagles........ In all the years that I'm doing this I started to buy the great lenses you show in this video, I owned the Nikon 400mm f/2.8 VR II for a couple of years just for the soccer matches that Go Ahead Eagles play and also started using this lens for birding. So after many years of shooting with the 400mm I decide to sell it and get a Nikon 600mm f/4.0 VR II just for birding which I also love doing. It was a difficult decision I had to make but I found a great secondhand 600mm for a good price so the decision was made. At the soccer games, I do miss the 400mm but instead, I use my 300mm f/2.8 VRII handheld and this magnificent lens also gives me great action shots. I also own the Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VRII and the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 VR with three bodies, Nikon D4, D4s, and the D5. I'm selling my D4 to get a Nikon D850 for birding and portraits I also love taking. The lens on my wish list is probably a Nikon 12-24 f/2.8. I have one request and I'm not sure if you've made a video where you discuss the settings of your Nikon D5 during the Red Sox games, (fast action moments). I have my settings and it could be that you've different settings that I haven't heard or read about so it would be great if you could make a video about the D5 settings for sports. I would be thankful and I reckon many more sports photographers starting out would be too........... If this video already exists my apologies because haven't watched all videos yet. When it comes to camera equipment (bodies, lenses, etc.), do you own the equipment you use at games or does the team own it? Or is it a bit of both?

how do you feel about nikon new mirrorless camera in sportsgraphy? your videos include all I really want to know, so I really enjoy them.

I like them a lot but I think they are still perfecting them! I have a video about one of the mirrorless models on my channel you might enjoy.

The RF 35mm 1.4 whenever they release it! If you need a back up photographer, I would gladly help lol.

Thanks Bill! Great question - for day to day cameras and lenses I use the Think Tank roller bags - they are great and make different sizes depending on your needs. They also make larger wheeled carrying cases for light stands, modifiers, and bigger pieces of glass. We also use the hard cases from Pelican for cameras, lenses, and strobe lights that are more fragile. These are great because they have the hard shell exterior but the soft interior for padding. Check out the "Air" series on Pelican's website - they are lightweight but super durable. Hope that helps!

@@billieweiss7681 Thanks for the info. I thought I may have seen the TT logistics Manager 50 standing in a portion of the vid and I recognized the the airport models in the vid to. I have the airport security v3 as my main bag. How do you bag your c-stands and grip gear? I need a good solution for grip travel and storage? Thanks again.

I still prefer DSLR right now, but that may change within the next few years!

My question for you is do you personally own all gear or is it provided for you? I know it's not always the same if you're a photographer who's working for someone else full time compared to if you're a photographer that's working on their own.

Luckily, the Red Sox provide all of the gear you see here to me. That is definitely a challenge working on your own given the cost of the gear! Best advice is to start small with just what you need, then slowly build your kit up over time as your needs increase.
