congrats Claire!! - just to say though to any expectant mums watching that whilst milk may not come in for a few days your colostrum should be there ready to provide baby with food, so in general formula won't be needed to bridge the gap between birth & your milk coming in if you're choosing to breastfeed. that being said, I agree it's a great idea to have some on hand in case things don't go to plan! x

You're so organised Claire & such perfect packing except there was 1 thing/s i would not have packed... white knickers. Like you said, there will be blood everywhere for a while. Keep the white knickers at home for when you've healed. Stock up on more big comfy black or navy ones. All the best love, i wish for you a calm easy gentle and safe birth. x💗

I had to get those as sold out of black, had to get the mixed pack. I would just chuck them after if needed but I knew I had more than enough black for the hosp. 🫶🏼

In the UK is formula recommended the first few days ? The lactation consultant in the US told us colostrum was enough until the full milk came in. I also brought formula just in case ! Just curious if the medical direction differs. Of course if you dont have enough they will definetly say formula but its mom to mom specific based on how the milk is coming in. Wishing you a safe delivery !

Ohh what about swaddles ? I used the hospital ones but found the ones I bought better. Considering bringing my own for the next baby.

But sometimes colostrum doesn’t come the first day or the baby doesn’t latch. I do think it also makes a difference if you have a 6-7lb baby or a 9-10lb baby like I did. I think everyone should do what’s best for their baby and I would always take formula as a back up. I plan to breast feed and not use it but it’s there if I do need it.

I have the muslins and one swaddling blanket, the Bambi one. I’m not sure how all hospitals are but it seems the private wards offer more essentials. They literally offered me everything so I know if I forgot anything, they have it. But I do think I have everything.

The best product I found for nappy rash, stitches or chafed nipples etc, was simple paw-paw ointment.

I THOUGHT you would get a TF car seat and a LV crib?

Funny you say that because I woke up in the night thinking “my breast pump!” I added my portable one that sits in the bra!

Isn't it too early to pump as soon as baby is born? You'd have to wait for milk to come down or risk damaging the nipples
