    Vulgar comments will be removed! Please make your critics short and with "clean mouth", then you can deserve an answer. And before - if is the case - you formulate your pride prejudices of an amateur, you should ask before.

    The alternative would be distracting subtitles or a strong accent English - This kind of narration is quite pleasant o my ears.. There are far more mechanical out there.

    fathead - Real working LGDs are far not that cooperative that other type of dogs. What for an average dog is basic, for an LGD is not and back. LGDs are working most of the time without human control. This is the nature of their job. But do not expect me to explain for you here this kind of work, about you have no clue.

    now i understand why the owners of the sheep didnt care that the dogs where biting him to shit, they dont want to send the wrong message by breaking up the fight, if they did the dogs might not fight off a wolf or some other predator next time they see one.

    There's nothing poor about this video. This is nature. He learned valuable lessons here. And ultimately, the pack that already tolerated him, came to his defense/rescue. This dog has a way better life than most family dogs. You cannot keep real LG breeds in a suburban area, or as a family dog

    +kinomad Oh I did,and I was just about to leave you a comment over there about it! It's beautiful. The countryside and wilderness of your country continues to amaze me as it always does. The pups are sturdy and powerful. It was nice seeing them interact with the older pack members and also the dog's interactions with the sheep. Also nice seeing them out on one of their first outings,and learning the ropes.

  • @kinomad1

    @kinomad1

    8 жыл бұрын

    +34straw Thank you! No, they aren't Caucasians. The yellow dog is 37,5% Central Asian, 37,5% Sarplaninac and 25% Kangal. The grey dog is 37,5% Central Asia, 37,5% Caucasian and 25% Sarplaninac. (I have to make my special mixes because the modern dog breeding ruined the real Eurasian LGDs. I try too recover and save somehow that ancient quality.) Good luck!!

    I bet it is sometimes difficult to let nature take its course. I understand if you don't you would only be debilitating the dog in the long run, sometimes the right thing to do is the most difficult.

    Did your pack accept the new dog once you went to save him? My youngest dog was challenging the older one and they had a few small fights that I broke up, but he kept challenging the older dog so I let them fight to establish rank, but stopped it before older dog could seriously hurt or kill the younger one I stopped the fight and now they seem fine, but I am sure there will be another fight before the younger dog becomes a complete adult.

  • @kinomad1

    @kinomad1

    +Chris Dealny This is not going so simply and quick. Generally takes more months to consider a new dog full member of the pack. But this depends in a big amount also from the social abilities of the new dog. Should be very serious differences - in this too - among dogs. Yes, is not easy to decide when to intervene in a rank fight inside a pack. I can not give you advice without knowing your dogs.

  • @anaphylastiks

    kinomad Thanks anyway. They both have different skills , they are more pets than working dogs. They do not work well together, one likes to bark because he is NZ sheep huntaway. Other is quiet and is great for hunting with good smell. Both are great guard dogs and get on well with livestock. I have 2 cats and both dogs know the cats rank above them in the pack.

    We humain beings are exactly like dogs. Dogs can be great sometimes, or they can seem appalling when they behave like this, just like humans do, but in maybe more concealed ways, concealed by "civilisation", "law" or whatever. But we are not better nor worse than other animals, which in itself is not that bad, hey it's nature.

    What do you think abaut hungarian kuvasz, and the program called "kuvaszok és nagyragadozók" (kuvasz and great predators)? Could it give us valuable lessons abaut LGD-s? Thank you!

  • @kinomad1

    +József Cseh In my opinion the kuvasz, like the komondor, is in big trouble. 1. The population is too small, so the inbreeding is inevitable. Who knows some genetics knows what means this. 2. The standard is not good. Is written by people who do not know real functional anatomy and the real work of LGDs. 3. Even this small population is bred in 3 ways: a) Show breeding, which is the main street of breeding. And is the end of working dogs. b) The some kind of white Hungarian version of German shepherd dog type breeding, which is the end of Livestock Guardian Dog. c) The efforts like the program called "kuvaszok és nagyragadozók" (kuvasz and great predators), which in my opinion are the single way to save the original Livestock Guardian Dog, what was, and should be the kuvasz. But there are problems with the 3. way breeding too: a) They have to confront with the followers of the first two way breeding. b) How I know just in this year two very important member was leaving the program (kuvasz and great predators). They were very few, and now they working further separate. These days are working 3 little groups in this "back to the roots" spirit. I know their leaders personally but for now seems impossible the unit their forces. c) They are still at the very beginning in their way to the excellent, top level Livestock Guardian Dogs.

    Okay one more question is there a large difference between caucasian shepherds and central aisan shepherds?

  • @kinomad1

    @kinomad1

    8 жыл бұрын

    +34straw I am sorry, but it is impossible to give a short and good answer. What is large or small should be very relative, subjective. For me what is significant is that the Caucasian is mainly a mountain type LGD, and the Central Asian is more a steppe type. The caucasians have more accentuated guarding abilities, the CAOs usually are better fighters. But the thing is much more complicated. People out there do not know that the Livestock Guardian Dogs make the most sophisticated dog type among all type of dogs in the world. It is a mainly hidden subculture, an extremely rich one.

    +kinomad okay no thank you very much this is a great answer because in the near future I wish to own a caucasian sheperd but I wanted to make sure there was a difference between the two breeds like enough to be able to tell if they are pure bred or not. also how much does your average caucasian shepherd grow in height and weight?

    +kinomad also would tobet dogs fall under the central asian shepherd category? sorry for all the questions haha its just we don't have many of these dogs in the United States so I want to learn as much as I can about them because these dogs are so extraordinary!

  • @kinomad1

    @kinomad1

    +34straw In my opinion a good working aboriginal caucasian male is around 72-73 cm (max 75 cm) in height and 55 kg (max 60 kg) in weight, in good conditions. For show or just guarding bred caucasians should be much bigger, but these are unusable in real and original environment.

  • @kinomad1

    @kinomad1

    8 жыл бұрын

    +34straw Yes, the Tobet dog is the name of a part of aboriginal Kazakh LGDs. Kazakhstan is a part of so called Central Asia region so should be considered a type of Central Asian LGD. (However Central Asia like a name is an artificial name given by occidental people for this region, which is bigger than Europe!!! Also Central Asian Shepherd Dog is an artificial name given by Russian people. In the Central Asia region living people do not name their LGDs as Central Asian Shepherd Dog, just like the Serbians do not name their LGDs (the sarplaninac) European Shepherd Dog. Every nation has its own aboriginal LGD breed with its own historical name: Turkmenistan have Alabai, Kazakhs have Tobet, Afghans have Koochi, Turks have Kangal, Georgians have Nagazzi, and so on. "Central Asian Shepherd Dog" is an artificial name, this "breed" is artificial, the "pure breed" thing is a myth. How I said before: the thing is immensely complicated. And I am sorry that I can not teach you here that I have learned in 20 years. )

    +Akeame Aldread No, they aren't Caucasians. The yellow dog is 37,5% Central Asian, 37,5% Sarplaninac and 25% Kangal. The grey dog is 37,5% Central Asia, 37,5% Caucasian and 25% Sarplaninac. I have to make my special mixes because the modern dog breeding ruined the real Eurasian LGDs. I try to recover and save somehow that ancient quality.

  • @kinomad1

    @kinomad1

    8 жыл бұрын

    +HupfDole87 :D The problem is that you try to argue about something you do not know. A dog who "nearly got killed" can not go home on his legs. The relativity of time concerns to your claim to help this dog earlier. Cause the dog was able to go home on his legs, and did not needed any veterinarian intervention shows that the timing was good, and he was far from death. And an LGD is not that type of dog that you can pull on strings from an 500 meter distance. If he wants to go somewhere, he will go. This is the way he learns, and believe me: with 20 years of experience I am good in timing and risk evaluating.
