Pacific Rim is a 2013 American science fiction monster film directed by Guillermo del Toro, starring Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Robert Kazinsky, Max Martini, Ron Perlman, and Mana Ashida, and the first film in the Pacific Rim franchise. The screenplay was written by Travis Beacham and del Toro from a story by Beacham. The film is set in the future, when Earth is at war with the Kaiju,[a] colossal sea monsters which have emerged from an interdimensional portal on the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. To combat the monsters, humanity unites to create the Jaegers,[b] gigantic humanoid mechas, each controlled by two co-pilots whose minds are joined by a mental link. Focusing on the war's later days, the story follows Raleigh Becket, a washed-up Jaeger pilot called out of retirement and teamed with rookie pilot Mako Mori as part of a last-ditch effort to defeat the Kaiju.
Principal photography began on November 14, 2011, in Toronto and ended in April 2012. The film was produced by Legendary Pictures and distributed by Warner Bros. It was released on July 12, 2013, in 3D and IMAX 3D, receiving generally positive reviews; the visual effects, action sequences, and nostalgic style were highly praised. While it underperformed at the box office in the United States, it was highly successful in other markets, thus labeling the film as a box office success. It earned a worldwide total of more than $411 million-earning $114 million in China alone, its largest market-becoming Del Toro's most commercially successful film to date. The film is regarded as an homage to kaiju, mecha, and anime media. A sequel titled Pacific Rim: Uprising was released on March 23, 2018, with Universal Pictures distributing.

if pacific rim 3 will have the quality and storyteling of first one it will be good day we wuld call it the proper sequel and we wuld not speak abaut that uprising
Hopefully they keep all the cheesy comedy skits out of it. Keep it strictly adult, oriented. So tired of movies going this route. Wow me with good story, awesome fights, solid dialog.

It’s actually underrated in my opinion
I hope Del Toro can help with the story. In that last film the story was honestly good. But that's just me, I liked PR2 up to a point. Then they started that alien possession nonsense and things went downhill from there. It reminded me of some old Power Rangers episode.
When pacific rim 3 is made and production starts any time soon I got my tickets ready and purchased for the movie theater

The thing is Godzilla would absolutely wreck any jagger from one or two hits, the only ones that would be able to fight him are Avenger, Striker, Athena, Bravo and Obsidian, but they would still lose. On the other side, for Kong they thing is better for the Jaegers, Gipsy and striker Nuking him and then let Avenger, Obsidian and cherno alpha end him is pretty possible

Rim 1&2 are ok but they claimed they were running out of pilots and mechs. Maybe now the guns and missile systems behind the walls will work.
The issues with Pacific Rim Uprising were: 1. No shots underlining the true scale and mass of the jaegers. This was what have made Pacific Rim so big. 2. Making Newton into a crazy villain. You just don't do that for a well liked character. Never. 3. No Raleigh+Mako romance continuation. This was the huge part of the first movie and without it second part didn't feel like Pacific Rim anymore.

Well, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if , in the 3rd movie, the Jager go into the portals and it leads them to hollow earth. Since Monsterverse and Pacific Rim are made by the same studios. Legendary.
I can’t get past the wrong pronunciation of Jaeger.
And whatever they must do no more DEI shoehorning in the movies

Pacific rim 2 for me is like a meh. 4 out of 10 rate. I don't feel the excitement even though i've watched the whole movie.
a cross over is a bit too much, no notable way they could bring those two together.

Uprising Jaeger is against the law of gravity. They flip. They parkour on building. They're fast. They lost all sense of logic. Not to mention billion dollars machine is controlled by teenagers. And boring actor.
so they try to ride in the success of the monsterverse, despite the 2nd being inferior to Del Toro's, and nothing more than a cheap chinabait like the meg movies, id4 resurgence, etc.
One of the crappest sci fi franchises ever ... It's up there with independence day.
