The planet Krypton is destabilized from the mining of the planetary core. Just before the planet explodes, Krypton's supreme council chief advisor Jor-El infuses the genetics codex into his infant son, Kal-El, the first naturally born Kryptonian child in centuries. Jor-El manages to send Kal-El in a spacecraft toward Earth before being killed by General Zod during an uprising. Kal-El lands in Kansas, where he is adopted by Jonathan and Martha Kent and named Clark. As he grows older, he develops superhuman powers that Jonathan urges to keep hidden, even refusing Clark's help years later during a tornado incident where he loses his life. Burdened with guilt over Jonathan's death, Clark travels the globe hiding under various aliases seeking a purpose in life.
Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane receives an assignment to investigate the discovery of a Kryptonian scout ship in the Canadian Arctic. Clark enters the ship disguised as a worker and learns from its artificial intelligence (AI), modeled after his father Jor-El, that Clark was sent to Earth to guide its people. While following Clark, Lois inadvertently triggers the ship's security system, and he uses his powers to rescue Lois from its defenses. He wears a uniform provided by the ship's AI and begins testing his flying abilities. Unable to convince supervisor Perry White to publish an article on the incident, Lois tracks down Clark in Smallville, with the intent of exposing him. However, Lois drops the story upon hearing of Jonathan Kent's sacrifice, keeping Clark's identity safe but fueling Perry's suspicions.
Zod and his crew escape the Phantom Zone, where they were imprisoned for treason for their actions against Krypton. They travel to Earth to turn it into a new Krypton, possessing several terraforming devices salvaged from Kryptonian outposts. Following Clark and Lois' capture, Zod's science officer, Jax-Ur, extracts Clark's genes to create Kryptonian colonists who will build a society based on Zod's ideals of genetic purity. Using the Jor-El AI to take over the ship, Clark and Lois flee and warn the U.S. military of Zod's plan, resulting in an explosive confrontation between Clark and Zod's troops.
Zod deploys his most powerful terraforming device, the World Engine, which severely damages Metropolis and puts humanity's existence at risk. Given the codename "Superman", Clark destroys the terraforming platform while the military launches a suicide attack, sending Zod's troops back to the Phantom Zone. With the ship destroyed and Krypton's only hope of revival gone, Zod vows to destroy Earth and its inhabitants out of revenge. The two Kryptonians engage in a lengthy battle across Metropolis, which concludes when Clark is forced to kill Zod as he attacks a family in a train station. Clark adopts the moniker "Superman" and persuades the government to let him act independently, under the condition he does not turn against humanity. To gain covert access to dangerous situations, he takes a job under his civilian identity, Clark, as a freelance reporter for the Daily Planet.

It still drives me nuts that we never got to see what Snyderverse could have been. I’m sick and tired of “origin” story movies. Henry Cavil was a perfect fit for the man of steel. DC really dropped the ball. Hopefully Gunn can turn it around but I’m not getting my hopes up. Why would you not want a Nolan Snyder team up with Cavil?!?! 🤦🏻♂️

I feel the same way, im tired of reboots. Im not putting anymore energy into DC. They finally have the full cast of the Justice League and no because of egos we’re heading in a different direction. Well they can leave me out im exhausted.

facts! Instead of following marvel formula of character development they were more concerned with beating marvel to the finish line and failed miserably. Henry Cavil is the perfect superman. Oh well
Man of steel is the best superman movie ever made imo. And was the first time o acyually like sups.
Superman plays Henry Cavill…who just so happens to play Superman. They are one and the same. No modern day replacement could ever come close.
When Top Studio Executives are ignorant and have little knowledge about their own products, they usually tend to follow what competitors are doing without knowing the consequences.
The first downfall with Warner DC was trying to copy Marvel....big mistake!! ...After the massive billion dollar success topped off with an Oscar win for the Dark Knight, they shouldve continue with that formula ....but came Marvel Avengers Endgame & all of a sudden, the stupid executives at Warner insist on cramming all the superheroes together in one movie without fleshing out each characte unlike what Marvel did with theirs, which evidently became a disaster in the already failed Justice League.. Secondly, they also have a way in meddling in the writers & producer's creativity thus the many in fightings & disagreements at Warner DC which became a huge turn off for fans which led to a protest for a Synder verse cut of Justice League..The chaos led to wiping the slate clean by firing almost all the actors & starting a reboot. Now we have James Gunn coming in & hes already ticking off DC fans with his controversial decisions.We can only wait to see if his so called 'reboots" will be a success or more likely another string of flops going in the wrong direction. It was a tragedy what they did to Henry Cavill....for me hes still the best person to ever donned the Superman cape since Christopher Reeves....The new Supes Gunn is making (played by young actor Cornsweat) has a huge boot to fill if it will ever be better than Man Of Steele......Good luck with that.

Good, it's still Cavill. He's got the good 'finding out what they try next' faces. The daughter of the Death Star designer was pretty good that way in that one, too. 👍 My neighbor, Big Dogs Doggystyle, says those are the ones he doesn't care about anymore after that. 🔥🤣

Henry Cavill is not coming back to play Superman, in the new James Gun universe. This is a brand new universe, So there rebooting everything.

Warner has totally screwed up the hopes for an amazing DCU!! Dont come at me with, "well, we have the tv series!!"....those more or less suck!!! Then Bats Vs. Supes was, ok, yes it felt rushed, as did The Justice League.... Im very tired with the whole super hero movie thing. What, we have had basically 20 years of it almost now!!?? Yeah, Im ready for some new energy, something exciting.
