To amass such a quantity of money simply means law enforcement not only FAILED to do their jobs but they very likely were recipients of a lot of this money .....to either turn a blind eye ....or do nothing if they stumbled over some evidence or leads. .

I lent a friend of mine a metal detector that lives in Tolima, Colombia. He found two military duffle bags full of U.S. Dollars last year. The problem was that it was just a mush soup mess. Most of this money that was buried unless it was in water tight containers its useless and gone.

Taking the lives of two of his men behind a prison that the Colombian government allowed him to build made their justice system a laughing stock in some sense. This opened the door not only to extradition to the US, but some of Pablo's own men joining with his foes to hunt him down.

3 years ago I was trying to dig a space for a fence in my back yard in a house near one of escobar's mansions in Florida. When i bought that house there were rumors that this area was used as a hidout for Escobar's mob and family, I didn't want to pay a fence company because well I can do it my self and the labor is too expensive. My digging took almost two weeks because I had to got to work and just continue to dig on my free time, I was finding some weird stuff under the soil all the time but it's normal stuff that everyone may found like roots, some coins or big stones nothing special. Until when I was almost done with the digging right at the end and almost three week later I found the unexpected but I didn't report to any one, imagine 4 weeks of Hard labour was finally able to find a hard object but bendable like plastic or something I couldn't tell what it was first because it was all muddy and brown so I decided to leave it alone because I was so tired. The next day I decided to dig the entire thing up after I though of what my realtor told be about being a hid out and all that. I continued digging carefully for almost another hour and there it was...an old Shoe

Its not possible for anyone to have 500 billion in cash, especially back then. Today there is only 2.1 trillion dollar in cash(paper money) in US, back in 1992 there was probably around 840 billion dollars, since amount of printed cash was multiplied 2.5 times in last 30 years

Even if you use literally all currencies in the world it is still hardly possible, but even more important, its pointless since 90% of them are useless outside of that country, since no one is willing to accept it. Where would you spend turkish lira for example in Colombia?

I keep wondering how many times some of his men would go hide the money somewhere and then go back the next day or sometime in the future and take it for themselves.
