It was inspired from his real life but shows and movies are often biased, dramatizing and exaggerating the facts to gain the interest of audience by adding a lot of fictional element to it. A lot of mafias and gang movies are just bases on the general ideas of how they operate and conduct business. Thats one reason people often feel sympathy for mobsters after watching a movie.

After I read " Pablo escobar my father " from Juan Pablo Escobar, his son I cannot say he enjoyed his life more than what it shows on Netflix. According to his son and his widow, he lived with an anguish deep inside since he had to be clandestine, and even Back then his son report that sometimes he was thinking a lot and even ignoring what people around him says. Ofc he enjoyed his life, but not that much, more at the end of the 70's and the earlier 80's but that's all
