Graham - great to see some videos from somebody who actually knows what they're talking about when it comes to the Rover V8 engine! What would be absolutely brilliant would be to see a vid on how to replace the valve guides. Done this plenty of times on other engines, but nobody seems to cover this on the RV8. Even if it has to be done at a machine shop, I'd prefer to know what's involved to be able to assess whether the guys I'm talking to know what they're doing...

Once the 1st machining datums are established the other machined features will be produced to those datums. Therefore irrespective of core shift all the machined features will be correct to one another, within manufacturing tolerances.

Hello, allow my to say that I am very impressed by the explanation and tips!!!! Keep up the good work. Watching your videos as I am about to rebuild my 9:25 to 1 ratio 3.5 engine. This engine I have bought came with a BW35 auto box already fitted, with Stromberg carbs ,so I don't know the exact where about, plan to fit on my cobra kit car build.... Anyway I would like your opinion on few points if you can. I have a pair of 4.6 heads. What is your option of using these instead the originally fitted. If yes what gasket should be used tin or composite?I am also using Edelbrock intake and edelbrock 1404 carb, electronic distributor. thoughts on viper hurricane camshaft....any information much appreciated!!! TIA

the bw35 box is pretty weak, be gentle with it.! just fitting 4.6 heads on there own wont gain you much, but it should bump the compression up if you use tin head gaskets. cant comment on the hurricane cam, ive never used one.

@@PenguinMotors Thanks for the fast responce!!!I would like your opinion please on an oil pump upgrading kit?(vendor?) Does it worth doing/needed on this early engine? please keep in mind, Cyprus suffers from 45 Celsius every now and then ...TIA

@@killikillis i dont like the upgrade kits with with spacer to fit longer gears, only ones i see leak. if your crank and cam bearings are good, there nothing wrong with the early narrow gears if they are in good condition or you buy new ones. you ac still get them as genuine land rover.

Yea the Brits took a great engine and modified it until they turned it into total rubbish!
