First time I stripped an engine, I got to the point where I wondered if I’d ever get all the bits back in the right places. Scary but an amazing point to be at. And this is the first time I’ve seen an engine where the linings come out with the pistons, presumably because it’s not a cast iron block. (Showing my age again) so even at 70, not too old to learn. Thanks Gregg, fun and informative again. Your apprentice seems to have grown much older and stranger though?

It's been a while since I've seen inside a C1J, so very interesting video there, thanks for that. For hoses, have a look at Roose Motorsport - decent price and excellent quality. They're a British company too.

Your old and strange apprentice suggests completing the engine, so all components are in and not getting lost…. Make sure it starts and therefore oil is on all components…. Use fogging oil and mask up intakes and exhausts…. Buy a dehumidifier and insulation for your garage doors…. This should keep any moisture away from the engine and you won’t lose anything :-)

Thank you ALAN! I think you are right about the components… plus it means we are more likely to remember how to put it back together 🤣

Don't put silicon hoses on your cooling system unless you are building a race/track day car, they leak coolant over time and your constantly filling up. Standard rubber hoses are the way to go for a street car. Silicon are however the proper ones for all turbo plumbing.

I did send another comment but seems like its dissapeared :( I had a spare engine stored in my garage and ended up selling it as i knew it would deteriorate over time even though i plugged up all the ports to reduce condensation. As you are lucky enough to have yours in bits i would coat everything in preservative oil & vac bag as much as possible. restore & rebuild when your ready to pop it back in the car. only my opinion so google 'engine long term storage' and plenty of help out there
