Mikey, and P-Rod would sell skate stoppers if there was “a gap in the market that would prove to be lucrative “. I can see them pitching their new skate stopper brand to corporations, “ It takes a skater to know how to stop a skater.”

This is gonna be a nice day at work." Then he proposed us to produce and distribute his skatestoppers with the argument you just gave...fkn sad. Dude had nice treys tjo

bro he's like 40, his Tampa wins are over. Reynolds still skates the Hollywood 16 the set not the rail. I swear ever since p rod did the Nike commercial with ice cube, he's changed. look at Rowley or tom penny, they still look , skate AND goof off the same way they were 25 years ago, literally. Chris Cole still the same as back in the day. well. mostly the same lol. even tho sheckler is hated by many, his skating and determination is still the same. joslin is another absolute machine, but I'm afraid his feet, ankles n knees are going to slow him down soon, which sucks terribly. watch out for any new blood Nyjah puts on his board team this yr cuz u know he won't put on anyone lame. I wanna see Riley Hawk to team up with another metalhead and do his own board company. being Tony Hawks son I'm sure will help him get his company off the ground. just hope they don't flopblike Thank You did w Daewon and Torey. they shoulda went harder on graphics n marketing and let Torey do a bunch of designs, can't help it

@eatassonthefirstdate Sheckler and p-rod were the first sell out cultural kooks. Who wanted to be seen as cool by the jocks and rappers that would bully them. Then nyjah solidified it as the norm. Koston being the proto-culture kook. All these dudes would trade everything they did in skating to be a bench warmer for the lakers or a 1 hit Soundcloud rapper. Dear Joa, thank you for putting into words what we've all been thinking for a long time. People like P Rod have only themselves to blame as to why their gear isn't selling the way it used to. I started skating in 1997 not because I thought it would be a good "business investment" but because my 12 year old ass watched Jamie Thomas grind huge rails and thought it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen. Before Tony Hawk's 900 and subsequent video game series, the idea of "skateboarding as a business model" didn't even cross anyone's mind. These people have lost the plot completely. If anything, this makes me respect people like Mark Gonzales and Ed Templeton even more. They were able to combine their artistic talents on and off the skateboard and create something that resonated with people. They do what they do because they love it, and the fact that it affords them a nice lifestyle is just a bonus. Mainstream skateboarding culture in 2024 is seriously lacking in sincerity. P-Rod is saying the quiet part out loud, "15 racks to sit on my ass and make an ad for the McRib" He should put that on a $60 pair of sweat pants and sell it.

I was just talking about the Gary V “grindset” hustle culture and how it becomes people’s whole personality. It seems to me that a lot of these aging skaters don’t know what their identity is post skateboarding and they adopt the “hustle bro” persona. It’s hella lame and it manifests in the products.
