P-51 Insanely Out of Control & Crashed

Some RC planes fly better than others. This is not the case. Near impossible to fly!
Nicesky P-51 "Janie" Great looking, poor flight characteristics.

Not bad...new prop fix wing. Perfect ! Ususlly 1/3 wing chord from leading edge of wing will put you close to proper CG...and fly on low rates!

CG is 2 inches back from where the wing meets the fuselage. I believe I found info from reviews on banggood. I use a 500 mah battery and push it forward until the fuselage covers the battery. I get 3 or 4 minutes of flight time depending on aggression. Plane flies great and does not need a gyro. NiceSky planes tend to be a bit fragile but for the right price is cost effective. Bought my mustang for 35 dollars and my hawker for 30. I wouldn't waste my time if they cost a lot more than that. Be patient for the price to come down. Banggood prices always goes up and down. Also I use strips of clear packing tape on leading edges and such for rough landings and minor crashes. Hope this helps.

wow... it needed the CG set right and the throws and expo set right and maybe a better pilot, not a gyro... but maybe it had other issues in air frame that were not visible in this... i have built and flown over 50 planes and yes i have had crashes... mainly all crashes were do to not having planes throws and cg set right... and lack of skills and flying on a gusty day..anyone that learns with gyro's on these planes lacks a lot of know how when it comes to plane setups... thanks for sharing

Hope is not a plan! Sorry. :-( Looks like the CG was seriously wrong and the control throws were way too extreme too. Bad mojo!

Just out of curiosity don’t straight wing aircraft stall from the wing root out? I hear a lot of RC pilots say “tip stall” but thought that generally happens with swept wing AC.

They don't call it bang good for nothing :) Now everyone knows not to have too much throws and do some due diligence on getting that CG right. It looked like it needed more battery up front or at least some lead up there. Would of had to fly it inverted to be sure but it looked like it wanted to spin which is just a little too tail heavy. I have wing that spun in on my maiden uncontrollably with the battery all the way forward as far as it would go. I did balance it and it was exactly at the back end of the very small CG range. After making the repairs, I added a nice chunk of lead sinker weight to the very front of the nose and put a heavier battery in to bring the CG to the front of the range. It flew beautiful after making that adjustment.

It is fun watching the video of how crazy that plane was to fly. Have fun and happy landings.

I always do the math on the CG range and never trust what is provided in the instructions. This applies to all Asian ARFs.

I've had plenty of electrics this size, balsa, foam, none with gyro and all flew well...as long as the CG was correct. You can't just move the pack all the way forward and assume it will be right. You have to check. If they don't give you a location a good starting point is 25% of the MAC....and always err on the side of nose heavy. Nose heavy planes may not fly well but tail heavy planes won't fly at all. And while gyros are nice you shouldn't have to depend on one to make the plane fly. It should fly well without it and then when you use it, it enhances the flight characteristics.

Correct.. i also have built and flown many planes... many i had to go with a bigger or smaller battery and or add weight to nose etc... cg is critical... as well as radio throws and expo and flying experience..this guy seems very new to the hobby...
