Almost all boats are different in some way.

I spent my childhood in one of the cottages by the canal and then there wasn’t hardly a boat to be seen. It’s changed so much since then and not really for the better.

60yrs ago I lived at no4 of those cottages. Then the canal water was crystal clear and very few boats. There were several lived in barges just past the drawbridge and as kids we used to swim in the nearby river Cherwell. My parents are buried in Shipton on Cherwell churchyard under a spreading chestnut tree.

Thanks Rachel, not too bad at the moment but coal looks like it will be very scarce this year. Currently scavenging firewood - mini vlog coming soon.

3:16 I quite like the look of that unusual blue boat, it also passed you at the electric lift bridge, is that a widebeam, it looks quite seaworthy?

No not a widebeam, but it is an unuaual one.

Did the boat that passed through the lift bridge acknowledge you? It seemed from the footage he just waited for you to open it and then cruised through without even saying thank you! I think it looked like a Norfolk Broads cruiser style boat.

It's not easy. I'll do a vlog on that someday. In my case, out of desperation, I started a KZread channel with the hope that it will eventually provide a "portable" source of income.....
