I simply don’t understand people. If you cannot take care of your pet anymore, bring it to a shelter. At least that way it has a slight chance of finding another forever home. Don’t let it fend for itself! Cruel bastards.

@UsernamesForDummies and @David Caffi Abandoning an animal is wrong but your way of doing things ends often in the animal being euthanized only after 7-14 days. That is better? Try as you may, but you just can't get around the fact that for many it is too hard for them to give a pet to a shelter knowing the odds are it will die in a short time.

Unfortunately a lot of US animal shelters are KILL shelters, which means if the shelter runs out of funds, space or staff, animals get euthanized. It is not like animal shelters in North Europe where animals are safe and sound and looked after for an infinite space of time till they get adopted. A better way to re-home your animal is looking for a organization like Hope For Paws, reaching out to those kind of rescues means they will find a foster home and then a furever home eventually.

@Wanda Roderick Mam,. Somehow I believe you majorly missed the context of this situation. Did you not comprehend the messages , or did you impose your own interpretation. What I know is that these people spent time and effort to help get a puppy out of a very unpleasant and unhealthy predicament in extreme heat. Baring laws to be followed and being dumped in the heat on cement ( or especially tarmack- extremely hot to feet or body ), owner not known . GET THE PUP SAFE, is the first step PERIOD. I fear you mam are the one who is not seeing clearly. Just my opinion , and we all have one .

@Wanda Roderick Surely you're not that stupid. The dog was abandoned, thrown away. Do you think the owner was going to leave his name and number? If the owner had cared, he would have taken the dog to a shelter and surrendered it.
How desperate could a person be to abandon a loving pet like that? Surely they could just as easily have taken her to a rescue shelter and handed her over. Thank goodness for the kind guys who kept an eye on her, this could have been a much sadder story. Jo-Ann and Loreta, as always handled this rescue gently and efficiently, go girls! Thanks so much for all that you do, especially in these difficult times. xx
What a sweet baby - every dog deserves a loving home, thank you for your continued rescues!
There are cruel and sick people capable to abandon a dog. But there are also people like Eldad and his women, capable to wander the streets rescuing them, spending their time and their money, in order to give them a better life. Thanks to people like them, the world is still a decent place to live. Thanks again for your work, Hope for Paws people. All the best.
It’s heartbreaking that people would abandon a trusting pet like this.

If you have to, or just want to, give your pet up, then at least take them to a no-kill shelter. If you're going to drive them somewhere, do that, not just abandon them. Your embarrassment at giving up your pet will be less than spending the rest of your life remembering how you treated them.

Yes. My first thought seeing the pet toothpaste is that someone might have run out of money to feed and care for this pet. More rescue organizations need to be available to take abandoned pets in instead of more shelters because shelters have such a bad reputation, though some are good, but many people are so frightened to surrender pets there.

Shania is in her new home and has made herself very comfortable. She is happy -- she is safe, comfortable, and has everything she needs. Especially hugs and kisses.
I can't imagine anything other than a real dramatic story. I mean... the tube of dog toothpaste seems completely full, and they even threw in a dog stroller. A.DOG.STROLLER. Clearly, this dog was loved! I am devastated to know that something extremely serious probably happen for her story to turn like this: the death of his masters and a heir who did not wanted her, a violent divorce, or I don't know... Shania indeed HAS a backstory. The owner could have died and whoever was dealing with the estate may have not wanted an older dog to take responsibility for. Not everyone has the sense or morals to take her to a shelter. Sandra Brown to be fair, where I used to live the shelter we had to go to charged you money to surrender your pet. Which is stupid because if someone can’t afford their pet what makes you think they can afford to pay you a fee to take it? You could lie and say it was a stray but you’d have to know to lie beforehand, and they certainly didn’t make it obvious. I only noticed there was a surrender fee because it was on the same form as the one you fill out to turn in a rescue.

Hannah King I am sure there are places like that, which I agree is stupid but there are a lot of places where I live in Alabama that manages to care and find unwanted animals forever homes, relying on fundraisers and donations. Maybe you and others can have fundraisers to wipe out fees for those organizations that charge to adopt animals.
@TheRivrPrncess

@@sandrabrown2132 Abandoning an animal is never right, but in some places the only place to take an animal is a shelter and some owners can't bear the thought of their pet being put down. I know that in the county where I live, the shelter talks about having adoption events, but they act totally different when a person surrenders their pet, saying they don't know if the pet will be adopted or not and after 7 days might be euthanized. That isn't something anyone wants to hear. Not all who abandon pets do so because they are no longer wanted. Some run out of money to care for the pet and really have no other place to take them and the resources to help fund their food and care are often not adequate. What will stop a lot of animal dumping is having more rescue organizations available to take a pet to.

5 years ago, we rescued a chihuahua mix who was abandoned days before giving birth to a litter of puppies. Shania and her look similar and it breaks my heart to think they were just thrown aside. I hope Shania finds an pawsome furever home!
She's loving the sofa. It's probably something she's missed and that's why she's excited by the sofa. May GOD give her a forever loving home.
Joanne is a very assertive and determined rescuer! Bravo! Loretta is very brave, gentle and loving, and Eldad is a very committed and skilful rescuer! Salute!
I'm not ashamed to say I burst into tears when she picked her up xxxx
She's so beautiful!!! I cried the moment they picked her up and she was like "Oh, we're going home now? Okay. Sounds good." 🥺😭💜💜💜🐶
I will never, ever understand why people do this. Ty Hope for Paws for all you do
That’s so sad to abandon such a tiny dog! I’m sure she will find a quick forever home!
I like all your comments. Greetings from Finland.
As she was drying herself it was like she was saying “YES!!!!! I’m FINALLY CLEAN AND SAFE!!!!!” Love what you guys do. I will be donating again soon. ❤️

was thinking the same
Why are some people so horrible, if you don’t want them or can’t take care of them anymore don’t dump them, just take them to a shelter, so sad
That sigh of relief in the car says it all. She's so beautiful. Looks like she was well fed, before, being dumped. Why would anybody do this. They could have relinquished her to a shelter. 😥
Thank you for helping her. I have a soft spot in my heart for Chihuahuas.
