We moved to southern Missouri. Very close to the freedoms of yesteryear. Shocking change from Illinois. We called the county to find out what permits we would need to build a house. The lady asked if we were building in a subdivision or had an HOA. We said no, we have 80 acres. She said, well that would be none. Love it.

PA use to be like that. Until the state adopted the UCC. Now you have to buy the rules to see what they are. The only good thing is when the UCC is amended the state has to decide what to accept unlike NYS. The big thing was sprinklers in homes and PA quashed that idea. Before it was if your local municipality had building codes and of the 40 municipalities in Susquehanna County only three had codes and about 10 had some requirements. Now one even required green roofs along with green painted shutters, well until someone decided a white roof along with yellow shutters on the purple house. Then the higher courts agreed with the home owners.

Mike, I can sympathize with your plantar fasciitis as I have SUFFERED immensely from it too. The “Good Feet Store” was an expensive rip off, in my experience. It did NOTHING for me, except empty my wallet! One year I had it so bad that I could hardly walk. I was on a duck hunting trip, and spent a PAINFUL day trudging through the mud in my chest waders. I honestly felt like dying. The next morning the PAIN WAS GONE! I MEAN GONE!!!! The day spent walking through the mud had caused my to STRETCH the ligaments and wear down the “spur” causing the pain! Stretching exercises is the key to alleviate the pain.

I also wear very flat slip on shoes which I have been told are bad but for me they work. Keep using your inserts but try the ice as well.

PF is no joke. First need to stretch more. Back of legs, ham strings, achilles tendons, etc. then see a chiropractor. Something is NOT aligned right. Then ask or search taping your feet for PF… Next… your statement about freedom. Watched long enough to know you won’t vote for the current administration. However you say you want freedom to do what you want and to be free…. That is what this administration is about. But nope you won’t see this point of view. The side you will vote on says they want freedom, don’t tread on me, pew pews etc…however the group your support wants to take all that away with over turning roe v wade, put women back to having NO rights etc…. Yea vote for freedom but careful who you support in November….. could be your last vote you make.

Hey Mike, I was in Lowe’s at 6am when they opened, I had to get a few sacks of mulch in the garden center, it was still dark and as I was loading the mulch onto the cart, this HUGE RAT went running across the top of the shelving. The next thing I know, this MASSIVE OWL swoops down out of the darkness from the back of the garden center, grabs the rat, and flew back to where is was perched in the back of the garden center. It was SO COOL and SO SILENT, gotta tell ya, I was thankful for that owl that morning!!

I too had PF for many many years, tried all kinds of inserts, specially shoes etc. I later on hurt my knee removing a mower deck from Kubota tractor. From favoring the bad knee for a year my good knee started hurting too. This all about 8-10 years ago. 2 bad knees, PF in right foot. Went to numerous doctors, nothing worked or worked for very long. In 25 minutes at the Good Feet store I spent $1,500 on their series of three plastic inserts and began wearing them and followed their plan. I went in because of the knee pain but the PF was hurting too. They said “our system will fix it all”. It Did. It’s been 2 years and knee pain is gone , PF pain is gone. Started getting better in about 2 weeks and kept on getting better. Sorry Melissa but you and anyone who has not had PF pain just don’t have the perspective to be critical of someone that has the condition. Thanks for producing such quality content, I am sure it’s difficult to get all the quality shots you have in your videos.

Sounds like a heel spur. I have experience with the same foot problem. I went to a podiatrist and spent over $800 on orthotic shoe inserts. After 2 years it made my feet hurt even more. Next step was to have surgery. A friend suggested I go to a reflexologist. The reflexologist ground the heel spur off with a hot stone (took less than 20 minutes) and I haven't had any trouble in over 15 years. And it cost me about $35. It's worth a try.

Hi Mike and family. It's part of being free to say: we are no longer making a big 4th of July party, from here on out we are taking things slow. About dog licenses, like most of the restrictions, is about "those people" who don't take care of their pets and about accountability if something bad happens. Down here in MX, we have nothing of the sorts, but we also have packs of dogs that turned wild because they were abandoned and had cases of those packs attacking little kids and adults.

I get what you are saying Mike. Back in 2000-2008 I owned a cabin in Accident Maryland, the State of Maryland implemented what we called a flush tax to anyone who owned a septic system. The money was to be used to help clean up the Chesapeake Bay. Even though my property was located on the other side of the Eastern Continental Divide and there was no way anything from my septic would make it to the bay, I had to pay it. Still scratching my head on that one.

Hi Mike! Was a long haul trucker for 30 years. Had similar issues related to you, but far more severe symptoms than what you are mentioning. Was preparing to get the traditional surgery for this issue. I had a regular route several decades ago from New England to Pittsburgh every Sunday night for a few years. While in Pittsburgh I would listen to a local chiropractor, Dr. James Winer, who had a clinic in Pittsburgh. On one of the programs he talked about his treatment for plantar fasciitis. I called his office and set up an appointment for the following week. After about 1/2 dozen treatments I was cured. Over the decades later, occasionally I felt a the beginnings of the plantar fasciitis returning. I started up the stretching exercises he had given me and the pain went away. The treatment started with a rigorous stretching of the Achilles tendon with a hard rounded plastic tool with small ball at end of it. A little painful😳😂. They mixed in some deep muscle massage of the calf all the way up to gluteus maximus. After 1 hour of this I would meet with Dr. Winer for the chiropractic adjustment. Then he would give me 3 exercises to do every day until the next appointment. The first was to stand facing a wall and lean forward with palms against wall with only the toes of one foot touching the wall about 2 inches. The idea was to stretch the muscles/tendons from the tip of the toes to the heel. The second stretch was the traditional runners’ hamstring stretch. That stretched the muscles between the glutes and where the hamstring inserts into the bottom of the heel. There may have been a couple of other exercises like touching toes while standing, but it was 20 years ago and that’s what I remember. Dr Winer explained that long haul truckers spend 10 hours a day(currently 11 hours a day) in the sitting position. This leads to a shortening of the hamstring. When we go to sleep on our back the legs are in the extended position. The pain in plantar fasciitis results with the shortened hamstring tendon tries to pull out of where it inserts into the bottom of the heel. 😢Am medically retired from trucking last year and have not been through Pittsburgh for a while. Checked and found that the Winer Wellness Center is still quite busy, but the founder, Dr Winer, died in 2017, some saying from mysterious circumstances. Who knows. I do know he and his staff were experts in treating environmental allergies, such as peanut allergies, etc. Even 20 years ago they were quite busy and on the expensive side, but as far as the plantar fasciitis treatment, as long as you did your exercises you never had to go back. Dr. Winer also mentioned that if you did regular stretching exercises you need for regular chiropractic treatment would be greatly reduced. He would say that stiff muscles would cause the skeleton to be pulled out of alignment, necessitating weekly chiropractic adjustments, which he felt was ridiculous and unnecessarily expensive! Best of luck to you and your family. My appreciation for everything you are doing compelled me to contact you. If you have any questions feel free to email me. 😎

I had PF a few times, the most help was some simple exercises found on KZread. I built my house in 1975 and only had an electrical inspection in order to get connected. I did ALL the work except laying block and stretching the carpet. Something has to give!

Mike/ Melissa, keep doing what you are doing. I am a79 year old Pennsylvanian transplanted to Florida, former hunter and user of Schroeder fireplace. My neighbor and me would hunt in the morning and cut trees down in the afternoon about 25 miles from home. Haul the wood home split it by hand and get ready for the cold days. We did this after getting electric bills over the roof. I truly enjoy and envy what you two are doing. I miss the mountains and the four seasons. Again, thanks for your videos. Bob

A few years ago, before my mini-schnauser passed on, there was a large hoot owl that would set on the fence in my back yard. I swore it was sizing up my dog for an easy meal. The owl has since moved on and I haven't heard it in the neighborhood for quite a while now. Since the barred owls weren't introduced out west and just naturally migrated out there I think they should leave them alone and let nature run it's course. That may seem harsh to some, but man doesn't have a very good track record when it comes to interfering with nature.

I was plagued with plantar fasciitis for a number of years. I had numerous visits to podiatrists, including cortisone injections, followed by intense physical therapy sessions to no avail. Concluding that surgery might be upcoming, my PT sessions were curtailed, keeping my eligibility for a number of them in case they were needed for surgical follow-up. As a last resort my doctor decided to fit me with custom orthotics, not covered by insurance. Wearing them felt like I had a golf ball under my arch. However, after a number of weeks my pain just disappeared. I do daily stretching exercises for the foot area and have been pain free ever since. Good luck with your therapy at the Good Feet store, Mike!

One of the reasons we moved from a subdivision that had an HOA was because I found that I had a huge dead pine tree in my back yard. I called a tree service to get a bid on taking it down. The tree service man asked me if I had gotten my permit to have it taken down. I told him no, that I didn't know I needed a permit to remove a dead tree. He informed me that if I had it removed without a permit the HOA would sue me. I went to the HOA office and filled out paperwork to have the tree removed. About two to three weeks later I went out in my back yard and saw a red ribbon tide around the dead tree and then about two to three days later I found my approval permit taped to my front door. We now own ten acres with about 15 trees and if for some unknown reason I wake up one morning I decide I don't want anymore trees (that will never happen) I can crank up the chainsaw and cut them all down and I don't need a permit. This was a real long way of saying I agree with you 100%. Keep up the good work.

A very enjoyable video today. I enjoyed the banter between Mike and Melissa. My wife has the same empathy for me when I'm hurting.... suck it up comes to mind. I agree about the excessive government interference in our lives, and taxes....I just bought a used Mule, and a used car, and paid over 1200$ in state sales tax! And what for??? Anyway, on a lighter note, the car I got was from an estate sale , a Ford Escape, 2013...very, very clean. It had the original window sticker, and on it said it was sold to the Ford dealer in Zelienople! I just smiled, and felt a connection to you all! Thanks for all you do, My wife and I both talk about your videos most every day. Enjoy your day!

Boy oh boy you hit a soft spot where are the exact same age and we lived the exact same life in for about a month and a half my right foot is killing me on the heel I thought about getting some crutches to get around in the mornings and when I sit still running a piece equipment trying to get going again it's kind of rough folks that don't know do not know how much pain one goes through it's unbearable I wasn't sure what was going on but he explained it well back in 2016 I started getting rheumatoid arthritis in my toes and my feet that's where it started it took a while for it to calm down I thought something was flaring back up in my heels a tad bit on the left foot extremely tender on the right foot we don't wear our shoes and doors until about a month and a half ago there's no way I can go barefooted. The tax thing don't even get me started landowners in the United States really don't own nothing you never really get anything paid for a long-term rental situation with a lot of hidden costs and a lot of liabilities AKA taxes. Fruita pandemic I offloaded some high-end properties for an obscene amount of money I thought my wildest days they would never sell for that don't misunderstand me they are super nice properties and they were well worth the money on a couple of properties they sold for Millions more than they were actually appraised for in 2019 they where home's in a couple of States people are moving to trying to get out of the covid lockdown one would assume they really like the properties so they wanted it of course they were in bidding wars with several other people I am just glad to be out of that situation those that know know at some point in time when you don't have the disposable income cuz you're not working no more don't take too big of a bite off the Apple there's a lot of ownership cost that are associated with the property do your research and run your numbers. Be safe..

I suffered with plantar fasciitis for a long time and the relief finally came from using a brace/boot that is worn only when sleeping. I felt relief after just one night after suffering for years. It took a month or so to for it to go away entirely. I found out about the boot after my wife got PF and went to an orthopedic Dr and he prescribed the boot, it cost $400 after insurance paid part of it. I found the identical boot on Amazon for $38, ordered one my size and started using it, worked and completely cured it. It has been 10 years now and still am pain free, but I have never again worn cheap shoes and always have good support for the arches.

Hello Morgans. Your channel is such a welcome escape from the state of our world right now. Wanted to weigh in on the plantar faciitis. I’ve been a fitness instructor for almost 30 years. Had it bad a number of years ago in both feet. Did all the things, footbeds, freezing water bottles, dragging a towel toward you with the toes, etc. It lasted until I started teaching yoga. My recommendation is doing ‘downward facing dog’ and then bicycling your heels. Do this after you’ve been active for a bit (warmed up). Mine completely disappeared.

Since I have moved to Florida in 1993 they have probably went to Permits there, I don't know.
