Great video. Love Dave Moss. He's the real deal. He race tunned my R1's suspension at Buttonwillow many years ago. The difference was nothing less than AMAZING! Night and day difference. My entrance and exit of high speed turns was like being on a monorail. I became almost fearless entering very high speed turns. Love your channel as well.

The tire wear on my 20 s1000 has the sandy beach on the street so tire compound stress line is not a factor like before and the swing arm is not stressed as before ! This device stabilizes the suspension confidence in the corners run hard on the street!! Thank you for the tire wear analyzation Dave you da man!!

All you motorcyclists in SoCal are so incredibly fortunate to have access to Dave Moss. I was extremely fortunate to get a remote tuning session with Dave last fall. He "dissected" my tire wear and shared a huge amount of information on how to read my tires. The remote tuning sessions are a "lifesaver" for people like me over here in N.H. that are unable to travel. I am enjoying and learning from your content, also just subscribed. Thanks and keep yourself safe! 😃👍❤🏍 Randy

Much respect to Dave Moss, and thank you so much for your help. Bill, its nice having solid help, and plain simple terms. Im almost healed up from my may 9th wreck, I will be back out in Sept. Neck break sux... fractured C1 and C2 and a few other places on the body as well. This is the longest off track time I have had since 2015, going nuts! Based on how these tests were affecting the tyre, it looks like this would actually increase tyre wear. When it's set right as it's increasing the tyre contact with the surface.....it occurs to me that's why they say it decreases high sides by 90%, because the tyre is being 'pushed/held' in place to the surface. Will be very interesting to see Daves test on his RSV4.

Hey Bill, saw you at Buttonwillow on 10/11 with the Ducati crew (I came to say hi at the start of the day with the V2). I ended up riding all day (yes in the sandstorm). Had a killer day, no wobbles, and the tire was pretty much even wear across the board, the "sandy beach" all around. Pirelli Rosso Corsa IIs 180/60/17, 28psi cold in the rear, 250lbs with gear on, TTX in the rear professionally dialed in. My Oversuspension is all the way on the - side, so max preload. I tested both extremes on the every day riding scenarios, but not at the track. We are back at Buttonwillow for Thanksgiving weekend so I will try both extremes again, on the track - for the track. For what is worth, not sure if it was mentioned in the video and if I missed it, but there is a total of about 5 full turns lock-to-lock, this might help the viewers understanding "how much" each turn "is", and what percentage it "adds" or "removes" from the preload - min vs max. Besides that, great stuff as usual, I too have to say I would notice a difference while riding. I tested the setup as I mentioned on my every day rides, same day, same road, I would go up and down adjusting it and noticed the max preload works best for me, for my bike on the given road. Lastly, here is the instruction link for anyone needing some more context: cdn.website-editor.net/0fc1aca713a7420ca4a2fc7d12d9d0f7/files/uploaded/Manuale%2520risuonatori%2520STRADALE%2520eng.pdf

I'm interested in Dave Moss doing the video set up for my 22 s1000r but when I tried to have the suspension guy at the PIR set it up, he tried said there wasn't anything he could do except for stiffen it up with the 2 rider setting. My question is; will Moss be able to do anything else than the suspension guy at PIR?

Thanks for the reply Bill. Look at it this way - you are not a robot so you never ride any two laps identically otherwise you would be in MotoGP :) That being the case, if tyre wear is consistent for some track days and suddenly changes, what else changed? Weather, tyre age and %age used, too many riders on the track at one time, nothing but yellow and red flags all day? Step back several paces and look at a bigger picture and see what factors might have created the tyre wear change.

These have been around for a good few years now and other than a couple of moto2 teams they aren’t widely used….. this has always lead me to believe they are a gimmick. I can see the theory, Ducati have a device in the bike that does the similar thing and Renault used it in the front suspension when alonso dominated (and it was banned). So it leads me to wonder if it’s something that benefits road bikes more with their softer flexier chassis and tyres. I’m in the UK and our tracks are narrow, none of the BSB teams use them either, again backing this up.

Cars also don't tend to use the edge of their tires the same way. I'd assume some sort of monocompound bike tire would like a lot of oversuspension and not worry about the joint.
