OVERNIGHT in a SNOW CAVE (quinzee, igloo, snowdrift) during a SNOWSTORM. Winter camping -17 ASMR
#quinzee #igloo #overnight
Hi! In this video I want to tell you how you can escape from bad weather in a natural shelter made of snow - in a snowdrift. I won't hide it, we didn't spend the night on the first day of construction, but the next. So the circumstances have developed. But in such a shelter you can spend the night immediately on the day of construction. Our winter camping was a success! It appears outside -15 degrees Celsius, and inside in a snowdrift +3 degrees Celsius. Excellent overnight! You can sleep in an ordinary sleeping bag, without a fire. Naturally, what kind of outdoor recreation without wild cuisine? Of course I cooked meat on the fire. Everything is in the best traditions of bushcraft. I almost forgot, such a natural shelter is called a snowdrift, quinzee, igloo, snow fort or snow cave and you can perfectly hide in it from a blizzard or snowstorm? Not good at English)
Enjoy watching ASMR video and don't forget to write comments to the video! They really help my channel to develop, and I will try to come up with something else interesting! I'm not saying goodbye, but I'm saying see you soon!

Hi! I decided to create a second channel "Sounds of Nature by ALEX", on which I will upload videos with sounds of nature. I love nature very much, and I like all natural sounds: birds singing, water murmuring, rain noise, wind noise. These sounds calm me down. If you have trouble sleeping or you just want to enjoy the sounds of nature, then visit my new channel. Today we will listen to the sounds of a hand stream. Looking ahead, I will say that it is here that I would like to build a small hunting hut. A magnificent quiet place where the water murmurs and you can retire with nature. Enjoy watching! kzread.info/dash/bejne/q6irvJSrkbXSZKw.html
Cool! I've built and slept in dozens of Quinzees here in Canada. They are a lot of work to build, but are SO warm and comfortable! It doesn't matter if it's -40C outside with strong winds, it's always a cozy -1C inside the Quinzee. I usually use the snow I shovelled out of the Quinzee to make a 1.5m high 90° trench in front of the door to prevent wind from entering and we use our sled as a door.

This video is truly amazing!!! I love winter, snow and everything related to it and this is actually kind of a dream, building a house in the snow. I really respect and appreciate the work that goes into making videos like this. I also recently started making bushcraft videos, so I understand how difficult it is. Very cool and well done.

Wonderful video, Alex! It reminds me of when my siblings and I would make little igloos when we were younger. We wanted to spend a night in it, but our parents wouldn't allow it. 😆Although it looked too cold for me, you guys made it look cozy. And the food? I was really jealous 🤣Just kidding. Another nice video and tasty looking meal, too. The temperatures are similar to here in North Dakota and, yes, shelter from the wind is the biggest issue. I am originally from the US south (the Texas coast and then Tennessee) but I can actually cope with the northern cold far better, even though the actual temperature is far lower. I won't say I love it but it is "doable" lol... It doesn't stop my landscape and wildlife photography... 1C would feel rather nice in such a shelter! Thanks for sharing 👍

Ah yes, a classic SNOW SHELTER', the small lantern heats the shelter, believe it or not, The excelled breath of the occupants glazes the interior with ice , reducing the shelters chance of collapse, and is a major survival skill and knowledge to have. If a large and deep enough drift were available, you could hollow the drift itself into a similar shelter. Great demonstration, Alex. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your semi secret construction project. Are you adding a room or what? ;-)

The one time (lol) I built and slept in a quinzee, we built a ledge inside so the cold air would settle below the ledge where we slept.
Looking at that BIG piece of meat... wow, yummy! 😁 You should try and make Canadian Bannock! Just look here on YT, it is a very traditional food plus nowadays every bushcrafter has tried it I think. Your English language is by the way SUPER! Where did you learned it? And I honestly am So ingredible envious of the amount of snow.... I hope to see so many once in my life... But I can only hope.. And sleeping in a igloo/quinzee would be in that hope, wow it looks so cosy 😊 Lot's of hard work but it was worth it because you both made a lot of people happy to come along! Thank you 🤗😎👌

Show our Scout Troop this when we went Winter Camping at one of the Camps. Coffee freezes at -40 C (-40 F) and camp stoves are hard to light unless you have fire paste to preheat
@alex-wild
2 жыл бұрын
it is not necessary to build a fire for survival. The main thing is to make a shelter without wind, you can just bury yourself in the snow and it will be better than wasting time and effort on making a fire at -40. Damn, we have -30 in winter is the norm of life) we go to work, walk with the children)
@va7dgp
2 жыл бұрын
@@alex-wild I agree, As long as your night clothes are dry. sweaty clothes at night can make you feel cold. I used a survival candle in my tent. No propane heater. The fire paste was used to heat up that tube on the generator that changes the gas liquid to a gas vapour to be able to get that coffee that gets iced. Keep up the videos. Thank You

@alex-wild
2 жыл бұрын
If you go up and down the hills, then snowshoes are better. They do not slip and it is convenient to climb even on ice. Skis are good for flat surfaces on which you can accelerate well. If I was given a choice, I would take snowshoes.

I could have gotten three good friends killed when I wanted to go for a walk in Northern Finland. It was January 20th or so, there zero daylight everyday, the mercury was bottomed out-you watch the barometer. Videos like this are nice to watch, but really, there is not always a dry birch tree, your fire doesn’t always start with a few sparks, you can’t count on tree bark for tea or tinder or whatever that was. To start with, they are wearing tights and don’t even have ski poles. You would be dead if you were more than a couple hundred feet from your house and tried this kind of stuff.
@alex-wild
2 жыл бұрын
to begin with, almost no one uses palei on hunting skis, they are not high-speed and are designed for walking on a straight surface without elevations and slopes. Nevertheless, my brother had sticks, but most often one stick is used on such skis just to maintain balance. But! my video is not educational, but entertaining. Nevertheless, this is how I would survive in our harsh conditions and it is not necessary to make a fire. And to hide from a snow storm and save yourself from frostbite, you definitely need a snow cave! because it can be warmed with its own warmth
