COZY DUGOUT: I made a wood BRICK STOVE in one day, delicious FISH SOUP

#dugout #winter #stove
Winter, frost, and now it's very warm in my dugout. After all, I made a wood-burning stove out of bricks in one day. The preparation took me 5 days. For exactly 5 days I delivered bricks, sand and a mixture for masonry mortar here. Perhaps my experience will be useful to you! Enjoy your viewing.

Hi! I've been struggling with my metal stove for a long time. It warms up the room very well, but cools down very quickly. So I decided to make a brick rustic oven. For 5 days I carried bricks, sand and other building materials for my new furnace. It was very hard, but I was able to do it. Now it's very pleasant to sleep at night. After all, the oven cools down for a long time... Please Support Cozy TREE HOUSE | Building in the wild forest from Start to Finish! | 3 months in 35 minutes!

nothing like a mass heater for a stove ... on a slightly different vein ... why not deepen about 20 feet of the stream in spring or summer for next winter so you have a section you can chip ice from without hitting bottom and get more or less clean water of course another option is make an ice melter with filter for sediment on the back corner of the stove ... then you place ice chunks in a funnel at the top and as they melt they pass a filter to remove stuff and fill a large (say mini beer keg type size) of container to hold your water needs ...

Beautiful example of the difference between something like a microwave oven vs a stone pizza oven. The microwave heats quickly but cools just as fast, while the stone oven takes longer to heat, but stays hot for a long time. Heating a living area with a brick oven might take longer to get up to temp, but you'll save a lot of fuel and effort once it's hot. Your little dugout is a wonder, you put so much work into it and it has become an amazing little place to call home.

Similar to forced hot air vs. forced hot water heat. Forced hot air will heat a space quickly, but the space will cool quickly if the heating system fails. I live in a VERY cold area (Northern New England) and have had my boiler fail, but I have forced hot water with cast iron radiators and in the dead of winter, my house will stay warm enough to sleep comfortably for up to 3 days. (Thermal efficiency for the win!)

you could do both, have the bricks on the sides for thermal storage, but the metal would heat much quicker and to a higher temp, plus you can damp it severely to burn longer.

You're right Ruth, that fish soup only "sounds" delicious, because it actually looks like a slightly heated broth with raw carrot, half-boiled potatoes and fish unpeeled by scales, with no taste, or at best a terrible taste.

Great job Alex. I've watched several folks build a similar "stove/furnace". You did EVERTHING right. You will find that, over time, the "plastering" around the metal parts will crack and shrink (normal). an easy way to fix this is to mix up, from your mortar, what potters call "slip", a very watery mix. Pour this into the cracks. It may take several times to fill the cracks well. Using this method save you from having to re-plaster the stove. I've watched you and others build dug out shelters. None rise to your level, two come close, very close. Still your the best. ;-)

Hi Alex! So, now you have got a stone oven in this cabin too - just like in the other one. The only difference: It's all the other side- way round and the oven is not directly under the window. Let's see how this turms out, but I think it will run out fine. I like the simple, but precise way of your work and the result is always something that will hold for a long time, so that it will be there permenantly. Nice!
