I wouldn't call Ainz a villain, more like an individual acting upon their own interests just like the rest of us, although to be fair moral standards from his previous world did plummet due to the decline of humanity in his future and in a medieval setting where moral standards were equally low I'd say he's one of the more kinder people in existence although its not helping that his undead affinity is suppressing his emotions like remorse nonetheless a more benevolent ruler especially for someone who strives for racial equality even if it means wiping out a kingdom or two, in other words Ainz is more like an anti-hero like Lelouch from Code geass they both do terrible things for the sake of the greater good or at least they do evil but with great intentions, its likely along the lines in the future Ainz will become a fullblown villain but considering his more superficial goal of returning to his old world I don't think its gonna happen anytime soon

The artwork for the ending is from the novel. The illustrator is so-bin, his works are OUTSTANDING

Overlord is one of the few isekai (teleported/transferred/summoned/resurrected into a fantasy world) anime where the the MC is a villain, this anime doesnt focus only on him tho, its like MHA where it focuses on multiple characters instead of on the MC. Its pretty solid anime. IMO, season 3 was the best season.😮‍💨

He IS the Overlord. Lmao. It's an anime without a real bad guy. The overlord can be argued as the bad guy, but there are worse people in a way. It's pretty brutal. I think the anime seems even more brutal than the light novels because you don't get to see his thoughts as much.

The story is mostly about the world being conquered by a bunch of demons and monsters lead by a Lich King. He doesn't have any competition, that's why the majority of the story is basically being told from the human's and demi human's point of view. You're learning about the people being conquered and watching those who oppose the Lich King be destroyed. While others join the Lich King's side. The whole point of the story is about the world being taken over by the Demon Lord instead of the usual story about how the Heroes rise up to defeat the Demon Lord.

Overlord is a really great show with a ton of interesting characters definitely a recommend!

The MC is called Momonga (thats his player name) he's a player in Yggdrasil Online, a VRMMO that used to be the most popular MMO. But a decade later, the market became saturated with other games and the Game's population dwindeled with time. So the game is scheduled to have its servers turned off permanantly. A few moments before the servers are taken off, he is connected in his Max lvl Skeleton Arch-Lich Avatar, going around in his and his guildmates, Guild Base a giant multileveled complex they build, sicne the game had a Heavy focus on Guild Vs Guild PVEvPVP content with Guild raids etc. Their Guild only accepted Monstruous races Avatars, there was no Human race players. He is reminescing about the good Old days and the weeks/months they all passed playing the game to become one of the Top PvP raid guild of the game, and how dejected he is that all of his guildmates, just...moved on with their lives, barely coming online in the last years of the game. He is still connected when the Servers are turned off, and thinks that he need to go to sleep anyways cause he gotta get up early for work... Until he notices that the timer is still going past Midnight( the time scheduled for the servers shut off), he also realises that he feels differents somehow and that he cannot open any menus or vocal commands anymore. He then discover that himself, as His game character and the whole of the Guild and all its possessions, where transported into an Alternate fantasy world, and all the Guild's NPC's are now sentient(the other "Non-human characters" you see with him in the OP's) He sets out to find if he's the only other player who was transported here, and he also notices that since his Mind is being melded into his Skeleton avatar, he cares less and less about "Human" things..., and decides to conquer the world as to spread the name of the Guild and possibly find other players.

Overlord is An amazing isekai anime, it’s personally my favorite one, it definitely sets itself apart from other ordinary isekai animes, it’s a more dark fantasy and it’s world building is amazing. I’ve personally read the Light Novels and yeah while the anime is great it could’ve been adapted much better, with the LN’s I’d say it’s a 9/10 for me but the anime itself is a 8/10

Overlord and Sword art online are like the Father and Mother of the Isekai genre. Dont get me wrong i know they were not the first isekai`s but they were the first to be super successfull and helped bring the genre to mainstream anime where it is right now
