Dave Brown Don't forget when the water bag is finished you can use it as a pillow when sleeping. Keep up your videos
Ronny, those ammo boxes with backup food is such a great idea! I will make up one of those soon - shove it in the rear of the drawers, set!!
Great tips, looking forward to part 2!
I've been searching for a channel like yours! Keep it up. I love it.
Nice. I use a lot of your suggestions for a different reason. I work away from home and am learning to cook in a microwave (in a motel room) and a 12 volt lunch box (in the truck) and have used a lot of what you presented!
Gotta love the goon bag water
Ronny, not sure if you cover it in part 2 but you can use snap lock bags for vacuum sealing your food whilst out camping. simply add food push as much air out as you can with your hands, snap up bag 99% and insert into a bucket of water with the small open part of bag above the water. water will push all the air out then close the last 1%. whola.
Check out the ooni pizza oven for camping very light and portable and perfect for searing meats too. For the dough, powdered eggs and canned tomato sauce and cured meats are pretty amazing for surviving in style.
If you have a mug pack it with tea bags, put your said mug into a Billie can with other stuff. Maximise all the space you got
One thing to keep in mind, the food expatriation dates don't mean the food is bad on that day, it's just the day that stores could no longer sell it. Most of that stuff would last years past the expiration date providing it's stored properly.

very true but I don't want to say that in case someone dies :D
Ronny, Excellent video as always and one that I've been waiting for you to post. While there is no replacement for "snap-lock" (zipper lock here in the States) bags, for portioning I use my vacuum sealer. I make my own bags from a roll so they are the exact size that I need and It gives me the most compact, waterproof, and longest lasting method of containing food. It also makes organizing for trips easier since I can buy in bulk and take out what I need by the number of servings. Also, I pack all of my liquids (ketchup, sauces, etc) in their own container lined with a garbage bag. This way, if something does spill, I can simply throw the liner away without having to wash my container or getting everything else nasty. Snap-lock bags are great for this also. Can't wait for Part 2!

thanks mate some of your tips are covered in the next video too. Snap lock bags are awesome!
Beard gets a 10/10. You should do a rig update video about the rear tray.
I never intend to go camping but watched anyways. You make great videos, good format and easy to follow. Simply a good watch

So hard to believe there's people who haven't been camping
hi Ronny, just spent two weeks in Coral Bay 4wding and boat fishing stayed in one of the caravan parks and tented it for the trip, some of your ideas I have taken onboard for future trips, cheers Rolly
Good Tips, thanks Ronny. I had it all right food/water wise (although 2 containers is a great point) in my setup up but it is all stuffed into the vehicle randomly. I need to get organised space-wise. Something I can do today on this rainy WA day. My camera gear takes up a huge amount of space so I am surprised I haven't done this sooner. Cheers. See you out there...
Deny Murphy the satisfaction of ruining your overlanding trip, in addition to more than one container of water, have a way to filter/purify water. Recovering contaminated water / making sure found water is safe can be the difference between a desperate situation and a annoyance.
Cheers Ronny! Great Tips as always mate, New Subscriber and i think iv pretty much watched it all defiantly got me keen to get out in the wilderness again
God I miss Australia !!
another good episode Ronny, the simple things make such a difference, thanks mate!
Excellent Ronnie, thanks for putting this together.
The old ammo case filled with backup tucker trick. I have one packed in my shed with pretty much the same stuff. Four things in mine you don't seem to have, tinned jam, sweetened condensed milk, rice cream and a 1kg bag of flour in a glad bag for emergency damper (if it's been a while, check for weevils before you go bush.) For one thing, the sweet stuff is loaded with sugar which is good for quick energy and for another, I don't know about you but if we're down to rations, billy tea and a hot damper with some jam is going to be a bloody good morale booster. Subbed btw. Always been into camping, just getting an interest in offroading now. I'm up in Cairns so I'm spoiled for options.
Ronny maybe this should wait till part 2 but if your going off on a trip for a few days and it's bumpy it's horrible to open your food box and find a cracked egg and egg over the entire box. Now before I go on a trip I crack the eggs into zip lock bags but them into a take away container and then freeze them. Then when out camping the night before I take a few out the freezer but them into the fridge to defrost overnight ready for the next day. They now can't be broken, they stack really easily as they are now a cube shaped and frozen they can last up-to a year.

Not sure if it would be expensive to ship for you, but US military MRE are a delicious option for long term food options.
Good video, great tips. I personally like to use multi fuels AKA (white gas), stoves and torches etc. Cheaper in cost than fuel canisters and easier on the environment. And in a pinch or your down and out, most gear can burn multi fuels like, petrol, grain alcohol, and diesel etc. Not the best for cooking eggs and bacon, but at least you can boil water, or warm yourself up...lol. MH
solid tips.
Love the beard Ronny. Keep these great clips coming.
Love your work mate!! Plenty of great advice, cheers!
I always keep a few days worth of dried food just in case great tips ..
Good common sense tips lad. Just stumbled across your work. I keep the same type of admin case and food storage, just make my own ratpacks from sales and factory outlets comes in at 15 bucks ish. Aldi's is a life saver. Good setup, looking forward to the next. Cheers Moose In Northern VIc.
This vid was great timing for me Ronny. I'm off to Ninghan station and Holland Track (separate trips) over the next 7 weeks. I assume you will cover cryovacing in the next vid? Also, can you cover off cooking equipment like your little single burner cooker? Finally, what's happening with the tray? Are you building a new canopy? Once again, thanks for such practical and relevant videos.
Can't forget the marshmallows mate, always great to have em over the campfire
Nice one Ronny, thanks mate.
Hi, you have a very interesting channel, I will continue checking it out. You have a new subscriber. 🙏Thankyou
Great video Ronny, great content lately, keep it up 🍉
This is bloody awesome
Good tips Ronny, at the moment we only have eskys so can only plan for as long as the ice will last, but the spag/beans and sausage tins are always a winner. PS. you have to put a disclaimer on all your new videos to say the canopy is sold! :P haha
Excellent!
I usually have backup food which doesn’t need cooking in case I have issues with the stove/fire
If you're traveling in areas with ample water, that's not chemically polluted, dry food is easier to carry. A decent filter and boiling will clean "biologically" dirty water and allow you to re-hydrate dried food as well as providing drinking water. In a "water rich" environment, one could easily carry 2-3 weeks of food in a 50caliber ammo can. Mixing freeze dried fruit with grains and dried meats(jerky) work really well. Add in some small packs of "add water" pancake and biscuit mixes, divided for personal consumption and your ahead of most people. A small catapult(slingshot) and some oil to fry...
I love your videos Ronny!
Greetings from Slovenia 🇸🇮🙂
Thanks for the tips, some I had, some I need to think about. Hurry up with Part 2! The missus & I are off to Gibb River Road after the Avon Descent. PS: love the beard.

hahaha no worries mate only 3 days to go from now...
I would recommend a Cat Stove/Alcohol Stove with fuel. Small and can boil water, and cook your meals.
good tips. I like your show it contains actual tips not actual adverts for everything i cant afford anyway. Can you do a vid on tips for camping with kids. I will be taking my 3 step kids away soon for the first time. I want them to have fun so they will go again and so the missus and I dont go round the twist while we are away. But never had to look after kids when camping before cheers mate
Ronny, it'd be sick if you could do a video on your tray setup. I'm in the process of building my hilux and I'm sort of unsure what I want! Love ya work, love ya tools!
Thanks Ronny good video 👍

Canned vegetables and the like can last for FAR longer than the printed date. They've recovered canned goods from hundred-year-old shipwrecks, including canned oysters, and the food was all still safe to eat. (The texture and appearance had deteriorated, of course, but nothing dangerous)
If that 0.7sec that he wasted that cask water gave you Anxiety... ...you might be an Aussie. 😄
A couple of trips ago I didn't forget butter but while we were discussing weather to stay an extra day or not turned around to see the dog polishing off the last of the block :( Butter now lives in a tub with a double clip on the lid . Bloody Kelpies !
Nice one Ronny, lovin the Chris Hemsworth beard :)
Great stuff, just wish I could live in a bigger country to actually use this advice BUT you need to give out those pro beard tips mate, coming along realll nice.
I don't know if you know that you can get freeze dried food from BCF or Anaconda and I do know a couple of army disposals where I live sell it as well
Another great video Ronny. Was wondering whether you have done a video before on the offset? If not could you please do a bit of an explanation vid, cheers

explanation video coming soon just got some final mods to do over the next 6-8 weeks. For offset information however see the website www.4-wheeling-in-western-australia.com/ click on the 79 series review tab
Wouldn't mind some tips about cryovac or DIY dehydrating rather than "pack food" being stated as a tip.
Ronny why's the back of you car different know. Where the box
I'm digging the beard man!
Just letting folks know.Canned goods in Australia no longer have a used by date! It is pressure cooked and will last forever. Look, smell, taste. It will tell you way more than expiry dates. Only 1 thing in Australia has to have an expiry date by law...Baby formula.
You guys should really be carrying water purifiers, why is that not more of a thing in Aussie overlanders? Just watched a 4WD 24-7 video where they talked about running out of water despite just crossing a river. I saw some surface water you passed at 3:00
Hi Ronny Thx for the great videos & informative content. Is it possible to do a "fault finding" or " trouble shooting" video "?. The reason for this is that I went out on a drive, rocky conditions with some sand, plenty of axel twists, my car now has a sound emulating from the suspension I think, but cannot simulate the effect when stationery,, Can you please do a video on how to "fault find"? Thanks again for the awesome videos

+werner greffrath that's a great idea but a very hard one to make as there are so many different things that will have some many different causes and signs. Will have a good think about however.
fruitcakes expired. lol great tips. great job!
Personally I'm a big fan of the white gas stoves over gas cartridge stoves because you can get dual fuel stoves. It's probably a bigger deal here in the US because most our vehicles are running unleaded gas instead of diesel so my backup jerry cans of gas double as backup jerry cans of stove gas. Although I rarely have the issues since a tank of white gas seems to last forever compared to the canisters. amzn.to/2aPcas1
Nice beard ronny, Lookin good
rations are $$ but especially from kit bag. i know its nice to support an aus company but I stopped buying from them when i released i could buy aus made products from the states cheaper including shipping. Work that one out. Aus rations are pretty hard to get but US Canadian and English are pretty easy on the net. Id stick to the Canadian and English. Also how did you attach that machete ect to the top of that case in back of truck??
The beard is looking pretty manly! Great video!
Casually opens door with machete on the lid.
The expiration date on Caned food is really not set in stone, we used to eat cans that expired in the 70s when I was in the military. This was about 10 yeats ago...
Ronnie! What kind of cooler is that? The green one
Off topic, how to the general grabbers hold up over certain terrains ?
I am surprised you didn't include liquid chlorine to disinfect water with.
sorry I didn't get back to you it's called dry baking I need to do a video on it. look it up on KZread
Your beard is magnanimous.
Pack the spare tyre with stuff
Why no dried food, the kind you just add hot water? That's about it for what I carry in my vehicle at all times + a gas boiler for warm water Best before 2020
hey Ronny new to your channel from USA dig your videos question what can't you cook on a backpacking stove?
@Ronny_Dahl

+Wanderer of the Desert you can cook most things but they are mainly for single serving people. No roasts, big cook ups, oven style meals, bread etc can't be cooked.

what kind of land cruiser does Ronny drive? I'm a jeep fan (not a hardcore one, I love both toyota and jeep, I just prefer jeep because I love their history with world War 2), but his toyota looks bad ass.
