Love it. I have a first gen Raptor that I’ve been building for overlanding. If you’d like to see it in action it’s my Arkansas to Arizona video. Hoping to put about $3k-$4k more into it now that I know what to work on from our 2 week-long trip

Great video. I’m thinking of buying a Raptor and doing an overland build for hunting, hiking, camping, etc. My main question is does the size of the vehicle limit you when off road? I have a Bronco reserved but I am thinking of going up to the full size truck from my Ranger. Also, what’s the rattle your talking about? Thanks!

Great video it’s good to hear Raptors are good trucks I’m currently looking at 2017 with 175k miles. It’s spotless no scratches it it seems no one ever set on passenger side seat or rear Buttons are in perfect condition. You mention you are currently at 100k how are you still covered by ford on your cam phasers. I’m assuming they extended warranty? But how long and what year. I watched your video when you had 180k miles do you still have truck or at what point did you part away. Thanks

Thanks for the comment! I got rid of the truck at 180k… the only major issue was the phasers, which was done under warranty and were not an issue again. The guy who bought it from me said he replaced a turbo at about 210k but he drives it differently than I did. All in all not bad for the things it did. I have a Gen 3 now and still love the EcoBoosts.

J.t.R. JP sorry for my delayed reply! It’s a Snugtop XTR 2 with the sportsman’s package that adds the structure required for my RTT. It does fit perfectly... I have had other caps on other trucks and this one is very nice. No creaks or cracks or issues. With a tailgate seal kit, it keeps most dust out of the bed.

Nice set up. What do you use to stop the back suspension squatting down? Air belows?

Paul Newman thanks! I had Deaver make the rear springs. They didn’t really have a product listed that added the weight capacity needed, so I called them and they were happy to make something custom for me. On the front I added the RPG adjustable collars because I had a bit of sag there too. It rides about stock height now I think. I didn’t want to mess with suspension geometry too much.

Paul Newman I thought about a bump stop extension but decided against it. I need the articulation and they limit your suspension travel. I wish they had a solution that you could remove when not using.

Chris Wright I think the only solution from my research is good quality air belows with special bracket for f150 or a custom one that bolts to chassis of raptor without any drilling. Simply Inflate when you have load and deflate when no load. You could use either a valve to pump it at a fuel station or a self onboard on compressor. I will modify my super cab raptor soon as I want to pull horse trailers but have a nice level on truck and no squats on back. Let me know if you know of any better products I’m open all ears. Hey Juan. Thanks for the inquiry. I just rolled 170k on the Raptor! I have a new one on order that should be delivered by the end of the year. I am planning to do an outro video on the Gen 2 before it leaves. Aside from cam phasers, I haven’t had ANY problems with the drive line. Ford did replace those under warranty, so I have no costs other than maintenance and mods on this truck since new. BEST. TRUCK. EVER.

Would you get a brand new 2021 lariat f150 5.0 or a used 2020 raptor with under 30,000 miles for the same price? The ecoboost really worries me with reliability and how well the previous owners have taken care of it

I am awaiting delivery of a ‘21 right now. My ‘18 has about 170k miles with no significant issues. I can’t say enough good stuff about the 3.5 engine. I didn’t modify the engine or tuning, and reliability has been outstanding. I think with the 21, you'd have the same motor, but newer tech. You can't go wrong with either truck though!
