Overcoming a RELIGIOUS Spirit ☝️

Ойын-сауық

How do we overcome a religious spirit? A spirit or posture of living where we hold ourselves and others to ridiculous standards that people can never live up to? As Christians, we’re clearly instructed to avoid the spirit of religiosity, yet it creeps into the Church. How do we go forward?

I believe we have to come to a place of acceptance that God accepts we are not perfect and can not reach the top of that mountain, accepting the truth that He came down because we could never go up without Him! Blessings Debsxxx

Jesus died for us because we are not perfect. We do not need to be perfect to know or be close to our Heavenly Father 🤍

Wow Jesus was telling the Pharisees and suddeces this truth...but the hardness of there heart and love for the commandments of the traditions rather than that of God..caused many if then to be lost while the savior was in earth and while he left it..wow 👏

The Bible phrases it like this take the plank out of your eye before you try to take the speck out of somebody else's

Right but this is such a misunderstood verse in my opinion. He is not saying don't call out your brothers. He is saying don't call out your brothers for a minor issue when you have your own MAJOR issues. You know what he means by a PLANK in your eye?

Ouch Mick. Sadly, positive thinking will not get anyone anywhere they want to be. It’s helpful to be positive but without a source of life and light, humans are pale reflections of their own hubris.

That kind of thought is not what an overcomer should have. To what standard should we walk after? Man's standard? Our goal should be to walk after His commandment. Romans 8:1 reads: Romans 8:1 KJV - (1) [There is] therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, BUT AFTER THE SPIRIT.

It's easy to quote the wisdom of others rather than seek a path yourself. For it is on this path that we truly grow through reason and freethought .Its the journey not the destination ,and not for subsequent reward.

@@iveseen1 1 Corinthians 2:4-5 KJV - (4) And my speech and my preaching [was] not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: (5) That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:19-21 KJV - (19) For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. (20) Where [is] the wise? where [is] the scribe? where [is] the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? (21) For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
