Thank you Rob for a VERY informative video. I really appreciated you thoughts about those that have came before us and what they would think about their designs and ideas being enjoyed by us today. Spoken with feeling and with an eye & ear for those folks in the past. Please keep up with the good work.

You summed it up really well talking about bridging the gap of time burning these lanterns.

Yep, nice lanterns!! Love my Hamms.. I'd put my Defiance in that category for solid performance. That search is in amazing shape!

Hi Rob, I have several of the C.T. Ham #20's and Dietz #30's. I want to find a Dietz #60 and had never physically seen one . This past summer I was at the World Mining Museum in Butte, MT. They had about 2 dozen #60's and I thought they were going to throw me out for drooling on their displays. Dang! Those rascals are big! I know someday, I will Have one.

Hey rob, as I also love using lanterns. Both for power outages, as well as for personal enjoyment when outside around a bon fire or in the garage. However I wish to take my lanterns places such as camping, but I have yet to figure out a good way to transport them without the globe breaking. In the wagon days, my guess is they just hung it from an arm on the wagon and let it swing freely with all the bumps. But with modern cars, there’s no where to put it really. Are you aware of any transport boxes ever made for oil lanterns? Something similar to those plastic boxes that Coleman pressurized lanterns often come with? That would also come in handy when storing them away.

There's a shop I stop by every now and then that has something that looks a lot like this but it's all brass. It's been in the back for "repairs" for good part of a year. The chimney cap is loose and he's been trying to booger solder it with no luck. I believe the pull tab is the earlier style if I remember right. It has a few booger solder repairs here and there. I havent made an offer because I have no idea what it is or if anything is missing but I'm wondering if maybe I should take it off his hands. The brass doesnt really look old to me though, it's not really oxidized and it seems thinner than I would expect. Any idea what it may be? Yeah shoulda snapped a pic.
