About Over The Garden Wall:
On an adventure, brothers Wirt and Greg get lost in the Unknown, a strange forest adrift in time. A wise old woodsman and bluebird Beatrice help them find their way. Along the way, Wirt's thoughts envelope him, while the wonder of the surroundings preoccupy Greg. The miniseries -- based on creator Patrick McHale's cartoon short "Tome of the Unknown" -- features animation that evokes a nostalgic storybook feeling, inspired by folk art and classic illustrations. The voices include Elijah Wood and Christopher Lloyd with Samuel Ramey, Chris Isaak and John Cleese among guests.
About WaterTower Music:
WaterTower Music, the in-house label for the WarnerMedia companies, releases recorded music as rich and diverse as the companies themselves. It has been the soundtrack home to many of the world’s most iconic films, television shows and games since 2001. Featured releases include the soundtracks for Aquaman, The Hobbit, Game of Thrones, Crazy Rich Asians, King Arthur, Justice League, and Westworld.

Over the Garden Wall is a genius retelling of Dante's Inferno. Being able to allude to the different circles from Dante's Inferno without out right stating them and making them family friendly is an enormous task that the creators successfully did beautifully.

This series would make such a cool dark ride at a theme park! It has visually interesting characters, great music, fun lightheartedness mixed with genuinely scary parts, and a storyline that is simple to follow yet vague enough to always feel mysterious. And to me, old school styled dark rides where you’re in a squeaky little cart going scene to scene evokes a sense of nostalgia and Americana, which totally suits the settings and aesthetics of the show. *Sigh* maybe some day...

Otgw is a perfect example of how to mix music and story telling. I really dont like musicals because i think characters all the sudden bursting into song and dance is cheesy and most times akward and forced but when media knows how to incorporate music without these elements you create a masterpeice. The backround music, characters singing in a matter where its believable (greg singing goofy little songs as a child would, the people of Pottsville singing at their annual celebration) it just feels so natural. I think over the garden wall and adventure time are truly the only shows to have achieved this

It's utterly and wonderfully bittersweet. Honestly the only word that suits it, that works for me, is that it makes me wistful. There are few animated productions (TV or film) that have swept me up and stirred me like OTGW did. It tapped into my love for fright, mystery, music, old fairy tales, comedy, Halloween time, and more.

Here's an explanation of the show in words: On an adventure, brothers Wirt and Greg get lost in the Unknown, a strange forest adrift in time; as they attempt to find a way out of the Unknown, they cross paths with a mysterious old woodsman and a bluebird named Beatrice. Footnotes: - The Unknown is purgatory/the afterlife - They're drowning in a river - The mystique, adventure and *creepiness are probably from the fairytale influences

Barring of course Horror movies themselves such as _Halloween_ and _Friday the 13th,_ This show captured the flavor and spirit of Halloween and the Autumn season in a way that only a few other productions have. _The Great Pumpkin,_ _Coraline,_ _ParaNorman,_ _The Halloween Tree,_ and _Casper_ are the ones that come to mind.

before my grandparents moved to the city, they lived on a farm in the middle of nowhere. during the fall, they would decorate their farm head to toe. they'd use vintage halloween decorations, scarecrows they made themselves or had been made for them, hay bales, pumpkins, you name it. this was also when their friend's corn field was at its peak. i remember driving out to that field just to look at the corn (and play in it, if i was very careful), then going to their house and eating soup on the front step with those decorations everywhere. this music, and over the garden wall by extension, makes me relive that. i love this show.
