Even though I have about 5 other videos that need to get worked on first, the removal I did on the 18th was just so cool I had to post it right away. Unfortunately, Good Time Charlie was fishing and Wreck it Ralph had a family commitment for Saturday and neither were able to go, so I was left flying solo on this one, but they both agreed I could handle it....may bee. As it turned out, they were correct, I got the job done, and had a great time doing it as well. I hope you enjoy watching. God's peace to all.
Mr. Ed

The problem is Devil runs the world. He is lier and murderer. This is the reason why Hitler got the power, but Christ was executed as "blasphemer" and "rioter" by denunciation of clergy. That's why we've got the Gospel about the God's kingdom. Jehovah would put everything in order. The dead will be resurected and we'll meet our beloved ones again! :-)

I am having what I think will be my most productive year, all of my established colonies and my splits are full of bees and brood and honey, Im even having to put supers on splits I made six weeks ago, everything has gone mad. Last year I increased my wild flower borders all the way around my garden and doubled their width to 3 feet, I also have cherry and plum trees that were covered in blossom and the lavender beds are about to flower also in June through to October and so my ladies have all the resourses to keep them extremely busy. I thought the success was down to the wild flowers but my bee club members are also reporting crazy success also.

Something sure is working in their favor this year. Shortly after our tornado hit here in Sulphur, I noticed bees on my memorial rose plant (planted so my Dad could see it from his bed before he passed away) for the first time. I've never seen bees in my yard before. I wonder, is it possible that the tornado could have blown them here, or is it more likely a swarm just set up shop somewhere nearby? Anyway, this was a beautiful hive, and a very nice queen. God bless you both!

Jeff my great uncle Georgie from Macon county Tennessee would allow his bees to draw out thick comb with no base in the frames. He made 2 or 3 inch frames for honey in comb, as he loved honey in the comb. I remember going to his house and on the table was a big chunk of capped honey comb as thick as you are cutting in this video. He even sold raw honey in the natural comb in big 1 gallon cans. That honey was the best. Have you ever thought of doing that at the Abby?

I love doing removals from these old homes as well. Very often the comb construction is like the one in this video due to the space available to the bees to "get large quick." Back in the day when I made my living in a mill shop, I used to make all the components in these houses, floor coverings, wall coverings, windows, doors, casings, stair components, railings, and moldings as well, and each time I visit one of these structures it brings me right back to those days. And I have to agree, the cut out was awesome. God's peace Tim. Mr. Ed

There is so much more to beekeeping than simply having bees in the yard, and for me, that's the reason I make the videos to show that and to show how much fun it is doing all the things necessary. Thank you for your kind words and for taking the time to follow along with all of our adventures. And don't forget, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Pamela. Mr. Ed

I'm planning on a removal tomorrow. I can only hope they're as well behaved as these girls. The home owner said he got popped 7 times mowing today but not by the house so that bares investigation. Ground based colony or yellow jackets....I don't know. The kicker, I'll be doing the removal from the attic. It's supposed to get to 90 tomorrow. I won't be using smoke and I'm almost afraid to vacuum. I'm going to try J.P. The Bee Man style of shaking them into the setup as I go and frame. Also I started on KZread shorts with whatever I could film in 60 seconds..... Tomorrow I think I'll try shoot for a long form video. I don't have good video equipment but when did that ever stop anyone..... Thanks for being an inspiration and showing how it's done by example. Watching people like you on KZread has made network TV almost unwatchable. I'll do my best.

Hey Jeff, could you clarify what the advantage of turning the brood comb you cut out upside down in your cooler before you reframe it is? Normally if I am removing a hive I have just been setting the comb in a cooler the way it came out of the hive before I transfer it over to a frame after the removal. Am I missing something important?

Jeff, when you cut into the comb full o honey and it leaks can you stop the dripping by dripping hot wax onto the cut ? Because if youdo shouldn't the hot wax cool of instantly and if you can couldn't you take a fat comb and lay it down flat on a surface an filet it in half and hot wax it too to conserve the comb?

  • @JeffHorchoff

Hi Guys! I liked the video too, good job. One thing I would talk about: Why don't you thank the God of Jesus but Jesus? Do you know that he used to worship the Almighty God and didn't invite others to worship him? Jesus couldn't help himself when was in difficulty and didn't even know you exist, how could he help you to thank him?! I hope you really think that you are doing idolatry, you are worshiping a man instead of his and your Creator! I hope you realise that he was only His messenger like others before and after him and not His child or Himself (even your are not clear who Jesus is). Exalted is Allah from the lies that make His creatures. Just do research in YT and see how many people and priests return to Islam and become Muslim like Noe, Abraham, Jesus, Moses and Mohammed (Peace be with them all).

That was an amazing hive. I wanted to show up with a huge jar to put those smaller chunks of honeycomb into. Yum! Would have been interesting to find the queen marked, but oh well.

It would have been interesting had the queen been marked, but since I have never found one yet in all these years, I really did not expect to see it on that day either. God's peace Craig. Mr. Ed
