Predators don't behave like prey. Other predators can quickly recognize a fellow predator by the two eyes on the face and the way they move. And yes, familiarity with/ socializing dogs to mink through training and constant exposure greatly helps.

More of an issue with sight hounds chasing prey. Never heard of a dog being injured otherwise unless it caught a prey animal with fangs. Some nicks and scratches on thin-skinned sight hounds, but never an injury. I've never in the decades I was hunting brush, buildings, and around farm equipment had any dog (besides a sight hound) get even a nick from their environment.

The way I see it, there are rats that are wild & rats that are bread and raised in captivity to be beloved pets. The wild rats bring deadly disease for animals and human alike, I guarantee this man has his shots, the dogs too. Its dirty work but someone's gotta do the dirty work, this man's work seems satisfying in the sense that he has awesome dogs, minks etc. Its a cool versatile career and he and the dogs get exercise and fresh air (mostly) lol there are worse jobs. Nature is nature, animals eat animals, everything is a part of the circle of life whether we like it or not, these dogs/mink etc are following their instincts we cannot fault them for it they're working animals. I find all of this very interesting, the dogs and mink are what I love to watch lol.

I remain in awe that you not only tamed mink, but trained them to be such effective hunting companions that work in total concert with dogs.

2 things that still amaze me every time I watch your videos: 1.) How the dogs work hand-in-hand with the minks, and not mistaking them for rats. 2.) How there's almost no bloodshed. It's like they only crush the rat's spine until they're dead and move on to the next target. Bravo

This channel needs a warning label, it's more addictive than crack. Joe, you should write a book on how to train both mink and dogs.

I’m still amazed at watching the mink but yet the control you Have over them . This is the way to remove rats without poisoning other creatures. To bad that your bad of minks and dogs aren’t in every state.

Love your videos Joseph, I work at a local fish hatchery that has a mink problem. They recently live trapped the mink that was stealing the fish and I learned that he was euthanized. This breaks my heart but after hours and hours of research in Ontario I cannot find any rescues, shelters or any info about relocating minks. Do you have any advice so in the future I can maybe save a Mink or two?

Has he gotten back to you?? That's a really good question and if he hasn't and you haven't done so repost this over multiple videos and other channels. Pretty awesome you want to help out. Maybe you can become the mink rescue there.
