great vid!! thanks. I have an LG gas oven. The stove and top burners all work fine. The Broiler (with new igniter now and glows HOT) comes on but has a weak gas flow/small flames, they flicker on and off. and I have adjusted the air/fuel mixer to be about in the middle. I have continuity on both sides of my dual safety valve, very low ohms. any ideas??? THANKS !

That does sound like a safety valve problem. I would make sure my connections to the igniter are strong. If that doesn’t help, I would replace the safety valve 😊Scott’s Tip Jar - Click Here: venmo.com/code?user_id=2758682643267585005

thank you for your video. I have a nxr that uses a robert shaw igniter and a y 30128 valve. I have replaced the igniter and checked the valve like you showed and still get no ignition. This range has a gas broiler as well and it works fine. I did test the igniter and I get a reading on my meter. what else can be wrong?

Hi Scott.. I did replace the ignitor on my Samsung gas range bake bottom.. the broil works fine.. I tested the temp probe.. its good .. control panel stays on 150 with the little green light flashing.. unpluged for several minutes.. nothing.. I will do the eraser trick on the ribbon and check the dual safety valve.. any thoughts?? Thanks for the wonderful videos!!

Could be the bake relay on the control board is stuck and the control board may need to be replaced.

I connected my multimeter to my oven but it didn’t beep or show a picture of a handsome man

I have a GE XL44 with an ignitor or glow plug that shows continuity with an ohm meter but the volt meter shows no voltage getting to the ignitor. Could a defective safety valve cause that? if not, what could?

The safety valve I need to replace is a Y-30128-35 for a frigidair but it is on average 50 dollars more expensive than the GE Y-30128-77 which seems to look exactly the same (except for a small mounting bracket) and has all the exact same Voltage, Amps, PSI, etc. Can I just use the cheaper one? Thank you in advance!

@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel Yes I did 10 months ago. I fear I have to replace it again. Will try to jump the ignitor with a wire and 300 ohm resistor to see if that opens gas valve.

Hmm I have been having some issues with my samsung gas stove seems to be the ignitor I removed it and manually energize it and it glow hot but it could be that it is bad I did test the gas valve it was good will have to change the ignitor and see if it will ignite thanks good video

@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel hey good evening I changed the ignitor but it did not light it took more that 15 minutes but did not light please note I did not get the original ignitor it was a replacement the gas valve is good I tested it and if you put the stove on broil it lights in 30 seconds

Ok I have an old magic chef that’s not getting gas. The electric igniter is working, just no gas. The gas safety valve has continuity, and I have 3.9vac to it, which from what I read is within the realm of normal. Should I just throw a valve at it and see what happens as a next step?

A bad igniter will glow but wont let gas in. A new igniter will glow brighter and let the gas flow👍

You could be right, although I just replaced the that thing 5-6 months ago. I don’t get any gas that even try’s to come out.

It’s rare that the gas valves fail but common that the igniters do.

How does the gas valve kick on? Is there a temp sensor on the igniter or the heat from it opens the valve like a thermostat?

Ok I stuck a safety valve in, didn’t fix my issue. I did some more troubleshooting and I have found the relay that clicks to turn the igniters on, only stays on for about 5 seconds before it clicks off. If I keep turning the oven back on quickly, it will light because the igniters haven’t had time to cool off and they will glow red hot. Tested this with both the bake and broil igniters. Sounds like I do have an electrical problem. Any idea what triggers and controls that relay timer?
