In this video, Dr. Berg talks about ovarian cysts. It is a fluid-filled sac and could refer to pain on either side of the S-I joints (low back pain).
Estrogen dominance is what causes these ovarian cysts and the remedy for this is iodine. Iodine is needed to help balance estrogen and promote progesterone (which helps balance estrogen as well). The ovary stores more iodine than any other organ of the body except the thyroid.
Causes of Iodine Deficiency
1. Iodine is a trace mineral - Farmers, most of the time, don’t put these trace minerals back into the soils. The plant is only fortified by what’s in the soil.
2. Fluorine / chlorine / bromine
Iodine Benefits
• Helps lower estrogen
• Enhances progesterone
• Decreases the risk of certain types of diseases (breast and ovary)
• Reduces hot flashes
• Reduces PMS and cramping
Recommendation: High-quality organic sea kelp (iodine and trace mineral source)
*If you have a hyperthyroid condition, don’t take iodine or sea kelp.

Thank you Dr. Berg!! I used to get breakouts only once in a while up until my early 20s. Then that's when the struggle started. It wasn't ever severe BUT I started to get mild to slightly cystic acne. I chalked it up to stress and other things. Now 6 or 7 years later I find out I have a 4 cm ovarian cyst. I found out because of symptoms I was having and got it checked out. A coworker of mine sent me this video. I started taking your sea kelp supplement. It's been about 2 months now and my symptoms have drastically improved AND my acne is basically gone. I guess I had a hormonal imbalance all along. I wish I knew sooner.

Dr. Berg, your KZread channel has been very helpful for me when regular doctors could not help. I didn’t get my period for 3-4 months with big ovarian cysts and pains. 2 doctors couldn’t figure out the cause (multiple blood tests and scans) , my OBGYN said I needed surgery to have them removed, thank god I found your videos on this subject, I started having iodine and you have literally saved me 8 grand (surgery cost) and helped me know the cause of the cysts. I don’t get ovarian cysts anymore because of your KZread channel. I think your vids are helping more people than you know, thank you!!! Everything I've written in the comments is from my personal experience, but I do hope it has helped others! Edit 21st January 2023: The first brand of iodine I used to paint under my feet was Gold Cross Iodine Tincture, 2.5% iodine, 2.5% potassium iodine. It has alcohol in it so I changed to a different brand in 2018 and still use that one today. That one is called Lugol's Solution from a site called gaps diet Australia. It is 5% iodine, 10% potassium iodine. They work the same for me, just that the Lugols Solution one has no alcohol in it which I personally prefer.

I paint it on my feet with a paintbrush before bed, almost every night (sometimes I won't use it for a week or so). I'll have to find the exact one I use. How long for cysts: I painted it under my feet every night (and morning since my body absorbed it quickly) and I got my period after 1 week of doing that. (That was the first time I had my period in 3-4 months). The cysts eventually disappeared. I think it took less then a month for them to completely disappear. I haven't had ovarian cyst problems since starting the iodine under my feet routine (It has been years) I hope that helps.

I recommend she join the Facebook group 'Nancy's Nook'. It's the best source of up to date info on endo, and a very supportive community of fellow endo ladies. Cut to the chase - best treatment is excision surgery with an approved, experience surgeon. They have a list of surgeons recommended by women and vetted by the group invigilators. I found my surgeon via the list. Exercise helps, if she has the energy and it can be tolerated. I take kelp too! I also cut out alcohol, caffeine, sugar and limit dairy/wheat. It all contributes. But I realise some women can do everything 'right' with diet and it doesn't make a difference. Every woman is different. Good luck!

endometriosis can be managed with n-acetylcysteine 3x600mg per day for 3 days, stop taking for 4 days, then begin taking it again and repeat the cycle. a more expensive option is daily systemic enzymes which come at different price points, and under different brands, ie. Fertilica Choice Enzymes / Fibrenza / Endovan. Probably your daughter would do well to check out hormone disruptors in her diet as well. Dr.Sara Gottfried is a gynecologist with quite a few youtube videos and a book called "the hormone reset diet", written in 2015 and available at most libraries, and it's a relatively easy 21 day elimination diet that helps get out of whack hormones balanced. iodine, keto, and intermittent fasting are not the answer to every problem faced by mankind, as seems to be the case where dr.berg is concerned. :/ Oh, R Baker has a point, as wheat is concerned, there are studies to show that cutting out gluten improves endometriosis. Surgery is fine if she's up to it I guess, but might as well learn about other options before a potentially unsuccessful surgery.

Now I know what caused my ovarian cyst at only 21 years of age...! It was the size of a honeydew melon. I really had no idea that our bodies didn’t make iodine and how much I needed it as a female. I’m now 27 and drinking seaweed broth 2-3x a week. I feel more in control of my health than ever. I'm currently on birth control per my doctor, but I prefer the more "natural" route so will definitely be eating more sea kelp after this!

I have had ovarian chocolate cyst 15 years and spent $20k tried and researched almost everything... Indeed NO high sugar fruits and food, soy, flaxseed, avoid conventional meat and diary etc... I still didn't go do surgery because several of my doctor friends told me that after surgery it's quite easy to grow back if not cure the root problem of the body, which is estrogen dominance and stomach spleen function not strong... besides the surgery would accelerate ovarian aging when we get old as it took away partial ovarian tissues, but if it's big size, then maybe surgery is a good way, mine was 6.7cm left and 3.4cm right, now finally shrinked half and doctor said right side 1.4cm one probably would disaapear in couple months... I am waiting to see the result.

Interesting. Many years ago I developed cherry angiomas and within 18 months ovarian cysts (no back pain though, but enough abdo pain to put me in ER before dx). I believe there is also a link with bromine exposure and lack of iodine to cherry angiomas. Some years later I was dx with hypothyroidism. On Levothyroxine and have been told to avoid iodine by my doc and pharmacist.

Yes, I had a cyst the size of a grapefruit. It burst and fluid came out the hole near cyst. This fluid was like motor oil, not puss. It hurt, but using chlorella really helped the pain. Then the cyst was about the size of an orange and now it has shrunk due to taking iodine. But don't take a lot of iodine or get stomach issues.

The biggest increase that has been seen in thyroid goiters and low iodine has been since so many people started using pink salt and so many doctors have put people on low salt diets! Iodine is so important for the functionality of almost everything in your body. Definitely use salt with added iodine, you can get sea salt with added iodine if that’s what you use or regular salt. Also, have your iodine level checked when you get blood work.

She just ignored me and told me it's normal symptoms because of my age. Im 42 yrs old. It's so frustrating when Doctors don't listen to my concerns. I don't know what else to do with these symptoms. The year was 2005. I started to experience discomfort on my lower left side once a month. Went to a female gyno who told me it was just mittelschmerz and sent me on my way. By 2007 every month became a painful battle during ovulation. My family doctor felt a malleable lump on my ovary. Long story short, the walnut sized "chocolate" cyst, and ovary were removed. I was left with endometriosis as a consolation prize. All was good, for a year. Slowly my periods were becoming increasingly heavier and more painful. My gyno prescribed 800mlg of Ibuprofen...which did nothing to alleviate the pain. I asked my family doc for help, he prescribed me Vicodin. That helped, WONDERFULLY so😋. That stuff was awesome!! But man, I would bleed through super absorbent tampons and pads (worn at the same time) and end up staining my clothing anyway. Drugs were not a solution. After several tests it turned out I had Adenomyosis. This time I got a hysterectomy, but since I was only 44 years old at the time I had the doc leave my right ovary in. Fast forward 14 years and I'm still dealing with monthly discomfort on my lower left side. Endometriosis never goes away.

It turns out I had an ovarian torsion caused by a 7 mm cyst that caused the ovary to twist three times until my ovary and Fallopian tube became necrotic. I didn’t even know I had the cyst, but if I had heard this info about iodine, I would have been taking it! Sad to think I might have not lost an ovary had I been doing something so simple.

Ended up doing 3 more surgeries between age 15-20 for more cysts and endometriosis in the 90's. Was told to stay on the bc pills. Now Im in my 40's getting an MRI tomorrow to check for endo before scheduling a laparoscopy. Already see fibroid tumors and adenomyosis on uterus muscle wall with vaginal ultrasound. Last 4 years.

Hey doctor berg! I’ve been binge watching some of your videos, and I appreciate you providing helpful content for us. Today I went to get a pelvis, trans abdominal and transvaginal ultrasound (first time) My results came quick. I have some bilateral sub centimeters ovarian follicles and I was kinda freaked out about it hahaha so I begin to do so much research about it, and it’s only cyst, but I could potentially have PCOS. I was leaning on that thought for awhile without being diagnosed at that time because a few weeks back I did some blood work, and everything was normal except my testosterone level. It was a bit high (46g) before I was experiencing a lot of acne, neck hairs, a lot of missed periods. I am definitely going to start eating more healthier, doing intermittent fasting, because I have belly that I am trying to get rid of. My health been up and down. Diabetes do runs in my family, high blood pressure. I want to be able to make that lifestyle change. I try so many diets, vegan diet, vegetarian diet, I definitely want to try keto. But thanks again for providing awesome content! I’m very hopeful and determined on improving my health thanks to you ❤️

Hi Dr Berg. Back in the Spring I listened to this video and started taking a sea kelp supplement from Iceland. I thought, what do I have to lose. So now it's November and I can honestly say that the left hip joint pain symptoms I had been suffering for some time, which you describe here as deflected pain, have completely gone. I have been pain free since about June, except for a while when I had a gap of not having the kelp, and slight pangs started to return. . I am incredibly grateful, but it does seem weird as I am in my early 70s, I can't imagine that kelp would help with increasing estrogen for me. I'll keep taking the kelp because I feel great.

Just thought I’d tell everyone my symptoms , I had cyst for 20 years , lower back, pelvic pain and what I thought was IBS , hip, bum and leg pain, bad foot/heel pain, bloating. Couldn’t exercise much and everyday chores seemed alot harder especially when I was ovulating. Had no idea is was the cyst causing these symptoms. Couple of years ago I was rushed to hospital and was told it had burst so took antibiotics. Well a year ago I had a scan and it had grown to 6-7cm and was told I’d have to have an operation to remove the ovary and both tubes. All went well and my pain disappeared 😊

This is what I think my issue is. Have had these cysts for few years now and although they aren't growing I feel they're the real culprit behind my leg lower back and hip pain. Basically the same symptoms you had.

Well I had mine for years but they weren’t that big (1-2cm) so forgot about it when I was about 28. Age 36 and onwards I was getting all the issues so finally went to doctor and he sent me for a scan. The small cyst I had years ago was now 6-7cm (age 39) so I had to have keyhole surgery, they removed one ovary and tubes as didn’t want anymore children anyway. Thank god the cyst wasn’t cancer as looked very suspicious on the scan. If a cyst is 6cm or more they have to remove it. My gynaecologist said the pain etc comes from the cyst twisting and touches the nerves as it’s such a tiny space around that area 😊

@@swild3634 that makes sense because my small cysts feel the same way and always feels like they're aggravating my nerves.

@@swild3634 That is interesting, I am glad things went well for you. I have an 8 cm cyst and my doc says they recommend removal at 9 cm. Hopefully mine isn’t cancer.
