I worked in Community Development and attended countless seminars devoted to violence against women. Whenever I mentioned the violence against men I was always shouted down, and usually by women. In many cases the women are the instigators. Men are too ashamed to admit that their female partners are abusive.

Will we ever hear a politician have the courage and decency to switch from the hideously sexist phrase "violence against women," and campaign instead against "violence against PEOPLE"...?
