I lived in Massachusetts in the early 90's when it was announced that The Outlaws would be playing a local club. It was in February and the day of the show there was a huge blizzard. I knew the show would be cancelled but I drove out there about 8 pm, just to check. I walked in and the bartender said the band was already there and the show was going to go on. When they came on stage around 10 pm, I kid you not, there were about 25 people in the place. They came on and played an entire show, just like they were playing to 25,000 instead of 25. They ended the show with this song and after that they set down their instruments they came out to chat with the crowd. I got to meet Huey and chat with him and the other members of the band . It is a memory I will never forget...

Videos like this need to be preserved. So later generation's can see that bands actually played instruments and singers could actually sing without electronic help.

Agreed. I was born in '92 so my love for classic rock was indoctrinated by my dad and some bands/songs slipped through the cracks. The first time I heard this was about two years ago (at 27 years old) and my first thought was: "This is basically Free Bird but even better." Southern rock, heavy guitar emphasis with very extended guitar solos, way longer than most classic rock songs, etc. Blew me away. I listened to it on repeat for days if not weeks after discovering it and it's become a song that will always be in regular rotation.

Hughie's letting everybody join in and take turns, even their sax player, but you can see when he plays he still had that fire in his hands. This was shortly before he passed. RIP Hughie, you are missed tremendously!

He was still alive back in 2007 when this show was done (he died shortly after this date). @@barrywainwright3391 Watch the video and read the heading. This is from 2007 when Hughie was still alive. That's Hughie wearing the black hat (he's dressed like he usually was when he played with Lynyrd Skynyrd). Billy Jones was long gone by the time Hughie put the Outlaws back together so obviously he's not there. Hughie died not too long after this show was recorded, so the guys touring nowadays as the Outlaws (under the direction of Henry Paul) are not really the Outlaws. Hughie has to be there for it to really be the Outlaws.

Three guitars- no waiting! Of all the remarkable musicians born of the southern rock explosion of the early 70's-I think Hughie was the greatest of the great. What an amazing talent. Saw Outlaws 6 or 7 times over the years, thankfully caught a FREE show at Mohegan Sun in CT with this line up- only weeks before Hughies tragic and untimely passing, Back in the day,('78) you could see the Outlaws, Molly Hatchet, AND .38 Special at an outdoor show for 8 bucks. I wish today's music was still like this. Sometimes when I'm driving around in my car with the windows down and I'm blasting this this song through the stereo's MP3 player I either get approving nods or confused looks. I pity those that give confused looks because they don't know anything about this type of music.

Back on Christmas Day '20 while just kicking back until Christmas dinner. What better way than to dig on the Florida Guitar Army? As I watch these guys for the umpteenth time here....it's so obvious that they are truly "into it" and are not faking their groovin'.....like too many older bands. These guys were all having a friggin' ball contributing to this monster jam.

I saw The Outlaws during the Ghost Riders Tour. It was towards the end of the series when Monte Yoho joined for a few shows. David Dix on drums TOO with Freddie Salem, Billy Jones and Hughie Thomasson on guitars. Nicky Cua I THINK played Bass. They played ALL the hits and the show lasted ALL night long. What musicianship!

Saw these guys at Clearwater Beach, Fla around 1973 or 1974. Saw them again TWICE on Rock Legends Cruise in the last few years. Had a beer (or maybe something more meaningful) with bass man Randy. Very cool dude. This band is an example of rock history and longevity. May they rock on forever. Their music was a big part of my post- Vietnam war combat recovery.

I would have to say, a most noble thing about Hughie Thomasson was, even though HE was The Outlaws (since he owned the name), he had no problem sharing the limelight. I've been in too many bands where someone else wanted to hog the spotlight when they knew they couldn't handle it.

Brings back fond memories of the passion for southern rock that was inspired by The ABB and LS. Saw these guys at the Mid Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie, NY back in the eighties. Hughie started the show by saying Welcome to the five guitar army and then said army proceeded to absolutely destroy everything in it's path. Good times were had by all.

On June 20, 1981 The Outlaws, Molly Hatchet, 38 Special, Marshall Tucker, and The Allman Brothers Band rocked Philadelphia's JFK Stadium in what was billed as The Roundup. Was 100 degrees in the shade. I was about to turn 19 years old and it was without a doubt one of the best days of my life. Looking back, I really had no idea of the greatness that I was witnessing. God bless these incredible musicians for what they brought to the table and for sounding as fresh and incredible today as they did then. And God bless whoever drove me home from that show!
