I must say that Ethel is the cutest tortoise I have ever seen. And, unless you speeded up the video, she can move pretty quickly. No, not Porsche quick, but impressive for someone carrying their travel trailer on their back 😂

Can't they live for like 200 years? There's another channel where a girl has the same kind of tortoise that she inherited from her grandmother. Who ever accepted responsibility for the pet got to keep the house, because it was renovated so much to accommodate him, it was basically his house at that point 😂

You guys are a quirky riot - in the best possible way! If you’re up for it, perhaps you could consider adding a “hare” (ie. rabbit) to your family. I think that would be absolutely perfect. BTW, I never realised that tortoises could be so darn social - & affectionate even, soliciting butt-scratches & all, lol. So cute. Congratulations on your human baby too. 😆👪🐢🐇👍

With Tortoise's long lifespan, Ethel would probably outlive the entire family.

Where are you from? I know you didn’t mean it this way, But in New Zealand If you say someone or something is a “piece of work” - it is really nasty and mean basically.😢 for example my ex-wife was terrible. I was pleased when we divorced :what a piece of work she was.!

I had a turtle for about 15 years and eventually gave her to the Houston Kids museum where Ms Turtle now lives in luxury. They are wonderful animals.

Years ago I was almost tempted to buy one. After all, they look sooo cute as babies. But then I did research on it ( as I did for any new pet. And I highly recommend this to everyone considering adopting or buying any species of pet) and realized not only would it require special care but it would grow considerably larger than the tiny mite it was and I would have no guarantee it would be cared for after my death. So sadly I decided against buying one. But a few years after that a local animal care center hired me as a volunteer for their herpatology department. I got to care for, feed and play with snakes, lizards, frogs, salamanders. turtles, AND tortoises! I even found out about a local reptile adoption group. I am currently looking into adopting a bearded lizard. And yes I'm doing research on them.😊

She's a cute little tortoise!! I hope that you have several decades of happiness with her.
