Outdoor Wood Boiler: First fire of the year!

First Fire of Season for my g100s outdoor wood boiler from ‪@Heatmasterss‬
Tips and tricks for those who don't run their boiler full time through the heating season. I use gylcol in the boiler and it goes cold while I am not there.
There are some things to keep in mind:
- How to light the fire again quickly
- Water level
- Water circulation (all year long)
- Rain and snow cap
Some of the video is washed out due to a bad setting on the GoPro and how bright the sun was on the snow. I will correct settings for next video.

I have a traditional "Hardy" heater. When I used seasoned wood I hardly have any smoke..... Mostly a heat signature coming out the stack. It has no baffles in it and the flue pipe comes right out the top. There is a flame deflector plate at the flue entry point. It is not nearly as efficient as yours but it works well. I can burn 30" logs as big around as I can lift and handle as long as they fit through the 16x16 door. I usually don't use that big though. Like you, I enjoy the entire process. Keep it up and stay warm as I know that you will.

Yeah, it’s not for everyone but I need things to keep me moving or I get lots of body pain. This activity keeps me warm more than once. Making the firewood, then burning it!

Yes we have those magnet hooks from Harbor Frieght. They are great in my shipping container so I don't have to drill holes in the metal walls. They are very strong too and hold alot of weight.

Actually I don’t mind the work at all. I’ll do a video of what it’s like to keep it going over a week. I also prefer to do my wood prep for the next season during the winter. I like the outdoor activities. I will work outside all day long at -20C as long as there isn’t too much wind. Not for everyone, but winter is what you make of it!

Given that this is Canada, prices won’t be overly useful, but I will do another walk around to show what it took and some costs. Thx!
