I.... well as much as I liked Papyrus's characterisation here, and so did many others, I did think once or twice that he should react somewhat differently, have different dialogue etc. but then again it's all up to interpretration, I'll still be looking forward to the full release.

0:20 I like the implication how he literally bolted here from Snowdin, dolphin dived into the window and broke it, which is more fitting to his personality considering how he also did it in Undyne's house. The fact that he had less hp just like when Undyne jumps to save monster kid is amazing.

The expressions when he dodges convey sentiments like “….Really?” and “Oh please…” And he’s bouncing around. There’s so much energy in both the animation and music. Love it!

Love the little detail of Papyrus having a little less HP from breaking the glass of the window. Sort of acts as a parallel to how in neutral, if you don’t save Monster Kid, Undyne jumps to save them, and in her normal battle she has less HP. Also love fantastic work on all this! Hyped to see the final product, especially since it’ll be playable!

Fun fact: When undyne jumps to save monster kid and then you battle her, Toby wanted undyne to have cracked armor as well as slightly lowered HP. He forgot about the cracked armor and only added the other.

Disbelief doenst hold back. Papyrus didn’t really try much in his fight considering how little he moved. He’s not undyne or asgore level yet but he is definitely more capable. Disbelief shows this. Only unrealistic thing is the blasters

Okay I have no word to describe how much I'm impressed. You guys manage to make Papyrus fight intense and it still feels like "yeah this is definitely Papyrus's attack". The Goofy movements of Papyrus and his bone, The cunning strategy behind some attack and unpredictability of this one goof ball can be seen. His way of speaking is perfectly incredible, Even the last sentence is accurate (Papyrus doesn't hate pun, he just "act" that he doesn't like the fact that Sans barely put an effort into his joke)

Oh yeah, true. A widespread fandom fanon canon is that Papyrus hates puns. But, literally *when you first meet him* in Normal, he legitimately tells a pun at the end of the cutscene. Just like with Sans' job, he just wants his bro to put atleast some effort into it.

Disbelief papyrus is not the real papyrus because papyrus is aware of what you have done when you meet him in the fog and believes that there's goodness in you.

For those confused on the level of obliviousness Papyrus shows, it'll all make sense in a later segment of the fight. Papyrus has witnessed you murder but wants to assume the best for you, coming to the conclusion that it was a one-off and that you haven't done anything else that is dastardly. Edit: About the facial expressions bugging, thats on After Effects and how it handles pre-comps. I fixed it but then it broke in the render

I apologize for being late to this masterpiece, but oh my gosh, this is one of, if not the best interpretations of who Papyrus is. Papyrus is my favorite character and so many fangames have done him wrong so i'm genuinely happy this brings justice to his character. Amazing work to all of the team! (me, wheres my credits)

The fact that he uses some remastered versions of both existing sprites and unused sprites is shockingly flawless. I cannot give this any rating under 10/10

Everything here is absolutely amazing, Papyrus' BELIEF is doing Papyrus justice for all of the mischaracterisation that the fandom put him through and I love to see it.

Didn't Sans deal with Flowey several times?

What I'm really amazed by is how Papyrus acts and attacks in this version. He still has the same funny and kind persona, but he still considers the misdeeds of the human. Therefore, he's got lots of stronger attacks up his sleeves. He even learned dodging somehow. Maybe he learned from Undyne or Sans ahead of time, before they were possibly killed. And Papyrus will stop at nothing to make sure he captures you. He doesn't want to kill you. Nonetheless, he must damage you enough to the point where you're considered helpless and weak. And compared to the first time you fight him (canon game), it's a lot easier to be damaged. Papyrus really has been training a lot for this, hasn't he?

Disbelief holds a special place in my heart and was one of my first aus, Papyrus-belief takes what disbelief had and actually makes in full character with papyrus's goofier traits. I love the googly he is shown with through most of the battle and his animations feel very alive, doing his poses and jumping over attacks and that green spaghetti looks good. If im being FRANK I can't wait to see the rest.

4:27 the way undyines music starts playing, it repredents his passion of joing the royal guard

Good job on this! The moment I saw his blaster I busted into uncontrollable laughter due to how much it fits Papyrus! Also that sprite work definitely demands praise with how fluid it is.

I've said it multiple times by now but god this whole team is blowing it out of the park. Love all the work that was put into this, its so animated too, super charming stuff!

I live how proud of himself frank looks after he shot that first blast in general the level of expression, different way of evasion and all are amazing and amazingly animated

Ok, this animation went hard, and it's an old one too! Considering it's all been remade in the game up til the end (and possibly further) this still holds up amazingly! Papyrus is the goat too, cause he ran to the Judgement Hall all the way from Snowdin, and still has energy to fight! All the dodging was great, the animations, the music and the Introduction for Frank was amazing! Great job on this, even if it was scrapped!

I absolutely LOVE the animations, the dialog is really _humerus,_ Papyrus's personality here is top notch, it is not excessively hard (at least this part of the fight) and I don't know what else to say. I love this, keep it up!

The amount of antics Papyrus does in his moments of dialogue in this animation just makes the fight feel a lot more lively.

I hope you realize this is like, criminally good. This is genuine perfection wrapped up into a 7 minute animation. I absolutely cannot WAIT to see the full game .

There is so much to comment on. First: it’s really sad that Papyrus is talking about how everyone will love him for capturing you, when you’ve already killed everyone that could be happy about it Second: finally I get to see exactly my head cannon of Papyrus if he could dodge. sans gets tiered, but Papyrus, he’ll jump 10 feet in the air to dodge one attack, then immediately start talks without breaking a sweat. Third: it’s just so good.

Brother really went from ''man, his ass can NOT aim'' to ''OH GOD OH FUCK'' in just a couple dodges

I can't describe how much I love this version of Papyrus Fanon kinda ended up warpping him into an over confident moron who'll sob over anything that doesnt go his way, while still being good natured This battle really shows what The Great Papyrus can do. He's confident but he has the strength to actually back it up, he's still silly but he's not stupid. He's a bit naive but he knows that he won't get though to you without putting up a decent fight. And he's smart enough to know he probably can't take one of your attacks. It's just great to see. I love it

In all seriousness, DAMN THIS WAS IMPRESSIVE. Even if it's a bit outdated, I had no idea this was going to be this good. The attacks get progressively more challenging, but creative at the same time, and it feels almost like a harder pacifist papyrus fight. You did a phenomenal job, and I hope the final result is more the same like this but better!

Looks super cool so far, love the little gags in this fight like the skateboard one at 6:46, looking forward for more, good luck to u and the team on this

Ok, i never comment on videos like these but this is OUTSTANDING! Papyrus’ expressions, sprites, the music and the animation at the end!!! Its all amazing!! And i liked how papyrus’ personality was the same like it is in undertale instead of it being something fanon af. The blaster at the end was perfectly made like it isnt too edgy and how the bone evolved into the blaster. I wish i knew how to describe this because it is the GREATEST papyrus battle i have ever seen!

this is truly so fun! It's a great extension of Papyrus's character. The spaghetti "attack" was a good touch too. Fantastic work so far!

Papyrus who actually dodges attacks (barely so), actually gives you a real battle while not even using his true potential, actually uses his jumping skills in the battle is a fucking legendary concept.

The sprites are absolutely perfect. They scream quality and fit Papyrus's character perfectly. And I LOVE how his Gaster Blaster looks like him instead of just being like Sans'! It looks friendly and goofy, absolutely perfect.

That clever reveal of Papyrus' blaster though, had me in the first half not gonna lie. Everything about this is just so *Papyrus!*

I love how canon this seems. Papyrus seems to know how much damage you'll do, so he dodges. Maybe that's his ability, like how Sans can see your LV, he can see your Damage.

Pretty sure sans just kinda “checks” the human as i believe monsters can: fight (use magic atacks) act (talk check dodge etc) and spare too so i dont think sans just has the ability to see the LV and its just a check

I love this!! Definitely my new favorite interpretation of a geno Papyrus fight, it nails Papyrus's personality and the attacks are fitting, this really does feel like how he would act if fought in the judgement hall. And the animation is sooo well done too!

The relief I felt when you complimented his spaghetti was palpable. (I also love the cute little jump you did at the skateboard tricks.) I adore this concept - it’s easily my new favorite Papyrus boss fight - and I’m excited to see where this goes from here!!

This is by far the greatest fight of papyrus ive seen by far. You perfectly captured his essence in game and put him within a fight. 10/10

I love how Papyrus even now is barely focusing on the battle, and more focusing on becoming the captain of the RG, which shows his personality perfectly.

I love the Sprites, there so expressive! To him wiping his tear, to his freeking dodging! Not to mention the fight itself, It's all so fair. No bullcrap what so ever. Amazing, outstanding work!

I love Disbelief, I really do, but I also love how this is a direct response to what Disbelief tried to do in showing a unique in-character Papyrus geno battle, and taking it a step further while also not taking itself quite as seriously. Beautiful work!

Me when the creator makes a perfectly beautiful take on papyrus, his character, and how we see him just to go "nah this isn't accurate to undertale, we gotta change it even though most of the people here liked this take" and scrap it like it's a bunch of bull crap. way to go

hey you could write and code and sprite and animate an original papyrus fight if you wanted. to help alleviate your anger about this not going the way you personally would've liked it to. i would be so happy to see your take on it!

This... This is what i wanted from the fandom all along, like... I dont like the fact that people focus so much on the genocide route, wich is the by all means the worst one, story and gameplay wise. Altough sometimes... Things like this spark that real undertale feeling, like of course is goofy and overtop... is Papyrus, the great (soon to be) royal guard. Everything is so nicely done and with such an attention to detail that it seems like a remake of undertale sprites, but without the overly edge designs (wich 8 out 10 times are totally unecessary in my opinio) So overwall, great video and project, i hope you get the recognition that you deserve. Also wanted this to have a happy canonical ending but... I know its not... Bs... I mean determination alwats prevails.

this feels very accurate to how a fight with papyrus would've been. the last line as well i love because people think papyrus hates pun when he really just hates sans slacking off and the times he uses it. also im pretty sure papyrus tells more puns than sans in undertale.
