😁About VideoShowMeHow
-----------------------------------------------
⏩ Where did this start?
I really enjoy tinkering with different projects - they usually require a whole bunch of research and learning along the way. It's satisfying on doing a thing and standing back and going 'Yeah! Totally did that!'. I had a bunch of mates asking 'how did you know how to do that?' and 'I couldn't never do that myself so I thought; I need to start something where I can help others that might be thinking the same thing :)
⏩ What will you find here?
The purpose is simply to make these videos as top quality and helpful as I can. They will always be free, there's ZERO agenda and the only motive is to try and upload what I would want to watch to help with that particular project. I'm also keen to keep building this little community and will try to answer all questions when asked - fire away :)
⏩ What's with the gloves?
Not after any KZread fame here which is why I'm not in the vids - they're not about me they're about the how-to! I used the gloves for the first couple of projects I filmed which just happened to be messy ones and it kinda just became a thing. Plus adds a little more personality I guess :)
New videos are being uploaded regularly so if there's something you'd like to see, have Questions and/or Comments drop me a line.
Cheers guys.

    Hey Adam I just ordered my outback armour, thanks for recommending it, I get it next year and will be following your excellent video on how to install. Thanks for putting these excellent and informative videos online, keep up the great work.. I try to do everything myself the one thing I didn’t do was my bull bar and winch insulation with driving lights, well they accidentally cut wires to my gearbox and the brand new Dmax was off the road for 3 weeks until fixed so bloody annoying. Cheers Wayne

    Just picked up my DMAX X-Terrain after having Outback Armour Lift Kit fitted. I bailed out on doing it myself, given jacks, stands and wheel alignment costs, got Goodspanner at Brookvale to fit. I also went with the Digressive Valve shocks rather than adjustable. Super happy and it looks sensational and cant wait to try it out towing. Thanks for the recommendation.

    I put the same suspension on my LSU four weeks ago and it's transformed the car (300 kg rear springs) Just came back from a 2,000 km camping holiday and the inside edges of the front tyres (Maxxis RAZR ATs) are being chewed off. New upper control arms going on asap. Btw, I gave the suspension a decent workout down some tough tracks and it's just amazing!

    I’ve had the same issue with my tires after the lift. I can’t seem to get an answer from anyone as to why it’s happening. Some shops have suggested it’s the front springs, but no one can give me an educated explanation. I also asked about the upper control arm, but it was dismissed. I’d really like to know why you are leaning towards this replacement. Cheers.

    @@VideoShowMeHow great point re the specs, and yes they are the new ones as far as I can tell. To make things even more confusing the alignment is good when the truck is on the hoist without myself or a passenger. Once I get in the alignment is thrown out up to 10mm. So. In the 30K I’ve done on the BFGs all 4 are scrap. Of course it’s a finger pointing exercise with no one wanting to hold themselves accountable as they are afraid of the 2K$ replacement cost. I don’t want any type of compensation. I just want a solution. I have to get tires fitted tomorrow then hope and pray they last. The current tires are showing canvas 😭

    @@mattbacher3573 Update to my previous post.. I've had the alignment re-done at a different front end place and now the issue has been resolved. The previous alignment had the toe in at -9 for both wheels but that has now been changed to close to 0. After 1,000 km there is zero scrubbing and the steering feels just the same. Incidentally, the fuel economy has improved by around 2L per 100 km 🤔

    Another super video. I now get the 'gloves'. I've spent a fortune in the past upgrading my suspension and changing shocks. It looks easy and the tools aren't too bad. I just can't justify the exorbitant prices we're charged. The toothpicks, matchsticks😀,.. that they are.. I get the red shocks. Anything else would spoil the theme. Interested to learn about the improvements from the original shocks and how they differ from the competition..? A grand series all round. Greetings from 🇿🇦🙌🏽

(pro's and cons) - And have you 'tuned' them with the F/R dampening speed adjustments and/or preload adjustment on the coils? - Was 35mm enough (for asthesics and chassis clearance? Would you consider a followup VSMH clip covering these off? Hope so 👍 Cheers.

    cheers bud. Your trip sounds excellent! With this lift I didn't need the UCA, was just able to get enough adjustment without. CV angles are fine too in my book, they really aren't that extreme with a 2" lift. If your overall lift is greater than about that 40-50mm mark and/or your regularly hit the hardcore stuff offroad, then I'd recommend a diff drop to give those CVs a helping hand.

    I just added up the total net added weight. Just work out what's been added net weight wise to the front (eg bar, winch, lights etc) then do the same for the rear. Minus anything you've taken off. Just remember for the rear in particular don't calc for occasional load (eg camping or occasional towing load) if most of the time your tub will be empty. This will result in a harsh ride for most of the time driving. This seems to be a bit common unfortunately (and the same people then tend to bag out the manufacturer for having crap suspension when it's usually just wrong spring rates etc). If you're looking at the outback kit, links in the vid description 👍

  • @Anthony-Parsons

    @Anthony-Parsons

    2 жыл бұрын

    Blackhawk do a UCA that suits lift between 30 - 70mm to correct castor alignment. Diff drop is essential to reduce CV angle change from lift. Munji drops 25mm and realigns that adjustment. PSR one drops about 30mm which is the same one used on previous models. Outback armour limit lift to about 30mm, so you may be just ok for castor, but alignment will confirm whether the adjustment is there or not. 2” lift requires UCA change. If driving off-road you need to diff drop.

  • @VideoShowMeHow

    @VideoShowMeHow

    2 жыл бұрын

    UCA will give you more alignment flexibility diff drop with get those cv angles a bit healthier. My alignment came in spec post lift without UCA (however maxed) and cvs aren't too bad really. Outback Armor have just dropped their new UCA and I understand a drop is around the corner so you never know maybe how to video coming to a VideoShowMeHow KZread channel near you soon! 😁

    How are you going with the squeak from the adjustable shocks? Mine are very noisy at low damping settings and gradually become quieter at firmer settings. On the firmest I don't notice when I'm driving but at medium to low the rubbery hydraulic noise can be intrusive. I contacted Outback Armour and was told that the noise was normal for the adjustables. They also sent me a vid of a technician in their lab with a shock in a testing machine. The tech adjusted the shock as it was being pumped up and down and the noise went from quiet to loud. I have the exact same suspension as yours Adam it transformed the car except for the noisy shocks. Disappointing!

  • @VideoShowMeHow

    Hmm I don't have any squeaks per say, there is the cycling noise when they're working, I notice this at low speed stuff, eg beach cuttings etc, but par for the course with this type of shock, if anything gives me confidence they're doing their thing :)
