    For most cars you can get silicone intercooler piping, which isn't as rigid as hard metal pipes. It still allows for natural engine movement while alleviating the sucking/compressing under load issue that OEM rubber hoses suffer from.

    If you have a closer look in the video the pipes mounted on the body are rubber mounted via little rubber bushes. This will absorb any movement. The intercooler is also mounted on rubber mounts. Having the silicone joiners either end of the hard pipes also helps absorb any vibrations. The system is already very well setup to absorb movement/vibrations so there wont be any issues. In the sections were I load the vehicle up it is for demonstration purposes and the engine reacts differently when you are driving on the road.

    Hi Nick, love your videos. I have a 2016 Dmax (no dpf) with 90k on the clock. Have noticed a drop in power recently. Did 25k around Aus last year towing a trailer. Car is meticulously serviced well above logbook standards. It doesn't have a catch can, basically because i didn't have much knowledge when i bought it compared to what i have now. I feel as though its too late now to install one. Do you think this upgrade could help me restore power? I did your air sensor clean but didnt notice a difference (the sensor was filthy with cape york dust!). I haven't removed the intercooler pipes to inspect them yet. Was hoping you could give me some ideas. I'd bring it to your shop but i live on GC ! Thanks mate.

    Did you try cleaning the map sensor as well ? The one in the intercooler pipe. It may have a bit of carbon build up in the intake if it hasnt had a catch can fitted. Fitting one now wont fix the issue of the blocked intake but it will prevent any more issues in the future. You Would need to check the intake for carbon build up and get it cleaned. You can try a few cans of threebond diesel intake cleaner to try and free up any carbon buildup as a starting point. Upgrading the intercooler pipes will give slightly better response.

    LowRangeNick hi Nick. I have just put an Idrive on my Mux. Makes a big difference. When you say the new pipe has help. In what situations does this help. I still find sometimes the very first touch of the accelerator there is a slip hesitation pulling across in front of traffic. Would this be help by the pipe. Thanks Neil

    Hey mate. I found another set with the boost connection on the cold side pipe from the manifold back to the intercooler, whereas your one is on the hot side going into the turbo. I plan on getting this set but would the boost be reading incorrectly? Does it matter?

    @@LowRangeNick thanks for the quick reply! Okay that's good to know. I recently just replaced the cold side with silicone hoses and joined a 2.5 inch 45 degree pipe with the boost connection. Works like a charm. I'm seriously considering investing in this kit though. Would you say the response time from the accelerator pedal is a bit better?

    @@LowRangeNick thanks for your input mate. Really appreciate it. I went ahead and purchased them straight from ATI. Did you find the clamps that came with them a little bit weak? Looks like the hard pipes transfer a lot movement to the body and intercooler might cause damage some where else?

  • @LowRangeNick

    @LowRangeNick

    3 жыл бұрын

    If you have a closer look in the video the pipes mounted on the body are rubber mounted via little rubber bushes. This will absorb any movement. The intercooler is also mounted on rubber mounts. Having the silicone joiners either end of the hard pipes also helps absorb any vibrations. The system is already very well setup to absorb movement/vibrations so there wont be any issues. In the sections were I load the vehicle up it is for demonstration purposes and the engine reacts differently when you are driving on the road.

    Check all the hose clamps are tight and the little boost T bung is tight and sealed. Some people have had issues with the hose clamps coming loose. Did you disconnect anything else while doing the fitment? Have to read the code and see what it is.
