WHY IS THIS MUSICAL NOT MORE POPULAR?! I got to see it last month, it was absolutely freaking AMAZING, and to top it all off, I went to stagedoor and met the cast, I even got to give Ariana DeBose a picture I drew of her, and I got brought backstage by Lucia Giannetta! It was the best night of my life! (haha I cried a lot afterwards)

Maria Karina I wonder why to I saw I about a week ago and it was amazing. I saw the tour and meet the cast and they where amazing and so nice

This musical is so underrated it’s crazy. I was fortunate enough to see it during one of the shows Chazz Palminteri (the original Sonny from the movie) took over for Sonny. It was amazing.

Not just the original Sonny, but he's also the original playwright and star of the one man show the movie's based on, the film's screenplay writer, AND this musical's librettist! Fun story about the film: Chazz wrote A Bronx Tale as a fictionalized account of his own life(wherein he himself witnessed a murder at age 9, became acquainted with a certain mob boss who inspired Sonny, dated an African American girl, and whose real name is in fact Calogero like the main character, and so on), and later on attempted and was approached to get his one man show(directed by Jerry Zacks: kzread.info/dash/bejne/qKt43MeDd9jKlrg.html) made into a movie. For a while, however, it never got anywhere with any of the big Hollywood studios who wanted to work with Chazz and cast a big name actor in the role of Sonny, when Chazz wanted to play the role himself. So he stuck to his guns, wanting to play the mob boss he cared about, and turn every offer down, until he met and had lunch with Robert De Niro(who saw Chazz in A Bronx Tale when it played in L.A.), who ultimately convinced Chazz to work on the film with him, promising that Chazz will get to play Sonny! And thus, the movie you see is in Chazz's own words and personal story AND his breakout role as an actor in film, along with being De Niro's first film as a director while co staring as Lorenzo(who's also based on Chazz's own father). And this musical, while seeming to be a straight adaptation of the film, is actually a mashup of the film AND the original one man show as it's being co directed by both Robert De Niro and Jerry Zacks!

The choreography is a bit stiff but holy shit this piece of music just might reach Broadway immortality

This is a great show that is a pleasure to be at, I have been going to Broadway Musicals for 45 years, this is a good one

What I love about it is their casting. Bobby Conte looks like one of us ginzos, and Ariana Debose is a dime piece all the way. Absolutely gorgeous.

I had to do a presentation for my Spanish class about something related to Latino America. So my friend and I went to see it last night in Longacre Theatre at 7 Pm. It was so amazing. I would like to go to see it again. They did a great job. My Spanish professor was very interested to hear the story. She said she would go to see it. Everyone in the class liked the song when I played it this morning. Everything was well done👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏.

Well, Colagero and his family are Italian. So I talked about the life of a young Italian boy who grew up in a neighborhood in the Bronx with many Americans. He met Sonny, a gang leader who became his protector because Colagero didn't mention that he saw him killing a man when the police questioned him. As a result, all the people in the neighborhood took care of him. As a teenager, he contiued to hang out with Sonny although his father had forbidden him to do so. He dropped out of college and became friends with many other young boys. He met and fell in love with Jane Williams, an African-American girl.

The girl was dark brown as the background singers. Shadism exist folks. We just cant go full dark for a woman. But its okay for black men to be.

There's been darker girls who have played her on stage....this is broadway...many girls will get to play her, dark or not.

Bad writing. It's like disney meets the mafia. They should have gotten someone other than Alan Menken.
