I ran a campaign starting with U1 then straight to A1-A4. U1 was a perfect set up for slaving pirates.
I wish Goodman Games would OAR the Desert of Desolation series . . .
Mystery-themed modules: U1 The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh (1981), X3 Curse of Xanathon (1982), L2 The Assassin’s Knot (1983)
Please please tell me the A Series is going to get the OAR Treatment. My #1 for sure. And, agreed on A3 being weak. The map on A1 still inspires me to this day. Weak spots? Sure.

Played the isle of dread 3 times now sense you released a update love it to death.
Frost Giants, AKA Iceholes!
another excellent show!
The Temple is a rough one, in the same way that a really long and intense road trip can be rough. I've run it, all the way except for the Nodes (group destroyed all the Temple forces and figured that they did not really need to do that any more, rather than just sealing the place and whatnot). It took us months, many dozens of sessions (we played multiple times a week and it still took all summer!), doing almost nothing else than reaving the forces of Elemental Evil. It's basically a campaign in itself. It can be really cool, since it becomes a whole environment that will move and breathe as you keep doing it, but it has a lot of issues, and I would not begrudge anyone for realizing that it's too much to bother with.

Totally agree, got the POD a few months ago. One of the 1st adventures I always use with new characters (this and U1 Sinister Secret)
I love Temple of Elemental Evil, but it definitely has its flaws. The back half of the module suffered because of Gygax not finishing it, IMO.
It's always struck me as odd that, for a game called Dungeons and Dragons, there are very few opportunities to encounter dragons in modules outside of the Dragonlance "modules" (nothing but walkthroughs of the novels IMO, and not real adventures). Perhaps in a future episode you could discuss how to get more "& Dragons" into people's games. Also, PLEASE put the audio of these up on apple podcasts so I can listen to them on the go without annihilating my battery!

There's a reason why dungeons don't have an abundance of dragons in them.

@@ronniejdio9411 Sure, but not all modules are dungeons.

Dragons are notorious for being not very fun to deal with, not from a "my character is going to die" perspective but from it being a gigantic sack of hitpoints that can fly away at any moment. There are obviously ways to counter this but for most parties dragons aren't enjoyable to deal with.

Check out the Greyhawk River Campaign. There might be dragons!
I still love the Desert of Desolation series. I wish you would do that as an OAR.
Great products, BUT way too expensive to get here in Australia.
D&D in a church? You desecrating little devils :)

Why not a DCC animated series?
As great as 'Night Below' is, it seems out of place on this ranking. I would replace that entry with X4-X5-X10. My dm-ing of that series in 1989-90, tied with the greater Mystara setting and lore, was one of the best times I experienced in gaming. Think of X4 and X5 as "World War One" and X10 as "World War Two". I had read X4 during the summer of 1988 and could not wait to run it. I had to wait months, though, 😱 to acquire a copy of X5 because I could not locate it anywhere in my area and had to order from the Mail Order Hobby Shop. And X10....combining role play, Battlesystem tactically, and War Machine strategically, was a fusion of fun that compares only to the Bloodstone series. After this phase of the campaign, I then was a PLAYER in the Blackmoor modules, after which I was dm for the 'Wrath of the Immortals' capstone path, after which the campaign sadly ended due to everybody venturing onto different life paths....but what a ride!!

Blizzard Pass could also be included in this series
The biggest NO DUH in the history of the universe when Critical Role raises millions for their animated series in just a few days... WOTC, owner of the IP has no clue...
The village of Homlet is good. The Temple stinks. This would not make my top 10.
